Seventh Woods just went to the wrong school. His skill would translate. UNC killed his confidence behind two other star PGS
Plus he got hurt a lot
Agreed 100%
I watched almost every North Carolina game and seventh never found a jumpshot and since he was 14 athletically hes been on the decline there was reason he could never play over berry colby white and this year behind Cole Anthony
Same thing happened to Nassir Little. As legendary a program UNC is, they have a track record of ruining NBA prospects
@@logankandel846 No player is "ruined" in 1 season. Nassir was vastly overrated and Seventh was an ok prospect by the time he went to college. The kid peaked early in high school. It's like his athleticism just vanished as he got older, had nothing to do with college.
Pretty crazy. He straight dropped off.
No he didnt he just went home to South Carolina nothing dropped off hes still a solid Hooper averaging solid numbers
philosofit just like Trevon Duval
He’s certainly not as hyped but I would say “dropped off” to be honest
@@R1DER_18 ehh he avg 5.4 PPG he definitely fell off.... Time to hang it up, buddy been in college for 10 years now 😂
@@lloydscott3586 your math is Shit mans been in school for half of that and he’s got more of a chance going pro then you do getting picked up on your local Rex league team so like I said before nothing happened
When you’re that talented so young it’s important to have people guiding you that have the vision to help you prepare for the next stage of growth beyond your current skill level.
Great analysis. I pray and hope the best for this guy!
Came here right after watching tre and them react to his mixtape lol
Same😂😂
Same
Same ahhahaha
Faxs
L
Word
Back when I was as in middle school they swore he was the next D Rose
Lol
lmao
Not the same. The only hs mixtapes I've seen and just knew this guy is gonna be good were John Walls and Derrick Rose.
He went to the wrong school, this kid could have been like ja Morant if he would have opted to go to a smaller school like Murray State, who would have allowed him to play his game and built around him.
Nothing "happened" he just went back home where he should've stayed in the first place
Interesting.
Upvoted for the Mitchell Robinson shout out lmao
Well, thanks.
just clicked on this vid and the picture of the gymnasium in the first couple of minutes it’s literally my old high schools gymnasium ayeee
I forgot about him! thanks for reminding me what a beast this guy was
That’s what we’re here for 😏
Can you do one about Marcus Lovett him and seventh inspired me when I was in highschool I'd appreciate it
Marcus Lovett was lit 🔥🔥
South Carolina he's gonna kill... In the league 100%
want to bet?
This didn’t age well
Seventh made the mistake of so many before him, choosing UNC... This is where great athletes go to become average. From Jordan, to May, McCants, Felton, Woods, and Felton. If you are a pro style athletic hooper, do not go to UNC, it's only one step away from the old Princeton style of basketball, if it weren't for the shot clock they would still be using the four corners, passing the ball until some defender fell asleep and allowed a cut. Seventh, doesn't need that.. UNC want your athleticism, but please don't display it. Woods' skills weren't suited for UNC, but they are extremely well suited for the NBA, he is no different than Morant, Westbrook, and that class of guys that went to schools that allowed them to be the stallions that they are, UNC's problem is that the coach believes the players should adapt to him and not the other way around, anyone who has Seventh as a player and then caged him up deserves to tank in the ACC. Similarly, when Raymond Felton, who's athleticism and scoring at Latta were the stuff of legends, only to go to UNC and fit in to a system that bridled him. I have every confidence that USC will take those bridles off of Seventh, and he will be the top point guard in the SEC hands down, and the NBA will not only come calling, he will join South Carolina's other two elite NBA rookies, Morant and Williamson.
That’s probably the dumbest comment I’ve ever read 🤦🏻♂️
How's that confidence now Ken? I'm rooting like hell for Seventh to turn things around, but it's like people never actually took realistic looks at his skillset beyond his early high school insane athleticism, which had deteriorated greatly by his senior year. Good news is he's getting his chance to "be the man" at Morgan State this year after once again being a backup at a much smaller program than UNC. Your exaggeration of how UNC would "bridle" players is hilarious btw, obviously there is some truth to Roy stubbornly forcing a fit to his system, and point guard especially had a tough learning curve under him, but to say guys like Felton (Cousy award winner, lottery pick), Lawson, (Cousy award winner, lottery pick) and even recently Coby White (lottery pick), had shackles placed on what they were able to show athletically is just being willfully ignorant.
@@jamesmac7071 What you failed to point out is that these guys either came in immediately as a starting PG or immediately became this due to the last PG graduating their freshman year. Coby White and Cole Anthony were able to grow and thrive quickly due to void in the position. Seventh was already at the end of the bench by that point. Bad timing of his injury was a huge factor. My whole family has been Carolina blue well before I was born, but even we can see that our guys don't get those same opportunities because of old school ideals. There's no way those guys going to Kentucky are consistently just better than our players. They just get to play and get better with real experience by getting on the court
@@theinktician There's a reason Coby came in and immediately started over Seventh, who was completely healthy and in his 3rd year at the time and still averaged 10 minutes a game that year, along with 19 at South Carolina (while not starting) and 18 at Morgan State (while not starting). At some point in his career you just need to accept he was who he was, injuries absolutely hampered his development but his play also never called for more time. If Roy had simply gone by those "old school rules" he would've given the keys to a Jr Seventh over freshman Coby, but level of play dictated things. Also yes Kentucky's talent is often times just better due to the way they recruit, and yes they get plenty of playing time when the guys before are gone after a year.
Kids really have
to pay attention to what school they go to. While it's tempting to go to perennial powerhouses, sometimes u may be better off at a really good mid major. You have to assess the type of offense you will be playing in, and how much PT ur gonna get. U can't showcase ur skills if ur not Playing. He shouldn't have stayed so long at North Carolina. He should have seen the writing on the wall, and transfer after his freshman year
100% mid major or even a strong D2
We weren't mislead, he was the best high school baller during that time for his age at 14 years, when he went to college we saw people just as talented as him and he didnt grow that much which I think was a factor in him not developing more as a player
alot of kids dont make it cus they CANNOT SHOOT...they can get to the basket vs a certain caliber of athlete; but once the size length athleticism increases they cant do a dang thing
This is a great video and channel. Subscribed!
Thank you sir 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Damn if I was seventh woods reading these comments, I’d cry lmao
So basically Roy Williams made him trash by limiting him 😑 should have wit to Duke
Eh I’d say it was more his play style he would have needed somewhere he could fit more seamlessly.
Coach K is notorious for completely recruiting over kids time and time again and destroying once promising prospects. There is a reason Duke has become transfer out U. There is no way Seventh would have had a prayer to get big minutes at Duke.
Seventh would have actually done well at Duke... They run a dribble drive offense that allows the PG to create off screens and if there is nothing you simply kick to an open Wing or dish to a Big Man off a down screen. He would have been able to use his greatest skill set, ATHLETICISM.
Roy didn't limit him .
Kentucky he would score hella crazy in transition
You earned a like 👌🏾
He plays PG but can't shoot or pass. Even now he transfer to south carolina, his stats still remain the same... avg 4.7 pts per game.
Sometimes in defends on the head coach it's either you adopt his system or not.
I watched all but maybe 3-4 games when he was at unc. He played faster than he would think. Im still pulling for 7th tho💯
Seventh and Zion both from South Carolina. Both made it seem like SC had a chance and both went to play in NC.
SC puts out so much talent in Basketball and Football. If most of the talent went to SC...
:'(
Zion is originally from NC.
@@Cardiakk It's all carolina
@The Inktician Just because they both have "Carolina" as a name doesn't mean anything. They're two different states. May as well include GA too then since they all recruit out of the same region.
This around the time Dennis Smith Jr was out too
I remenber seeing Dennis Smith jr killing this dude in 1v1 never heard of him since lol
Shit I remember ballislife dropped the promo pic for his first mixtape on fb lol.
Most is a underrated top 10 of all time mixtape.
🙏 pray bruh bounce back...helluv talented
He is... 👏🏻👏🏻
What’s the instrumental at the start
Let's be real. Not all players should go to college and when they do just hope that they make an impact within two years so they can go to the NBA because college kills a lot of players career.
No talk of his injuries?
Nothing really happened to him. He was overrated in high school because of the early years mixtapes. Then he clearly made the wrong choice going to a top program where he was going to compete for minutes against far superior PGs. Hope it works out for him next year
Yep that’s pretty much the story. And us too 💪🏼
My fav hs player.. hope u got draft nxt year
Saw him at augusta Christian
He messed up by going to UNC right out of high school .. they had a senior PG Joel Berry who almost never came out the game they didn’t need him he should have went to NC state w Dennis smith jr and went to the league .. at least seventh won a NCAA championship but he ain’t get no playing time so it don’t really count .. he could have went to a diff school and been a star .. unc had to many good players he was not needed he can play tho .. I think he thought he was going to start his freshman year cause if he knew he wasn’t getting playing time ion think he would have went
Def went to the wrong school. Had to unlearn his whole game in one summer.
Trae Jefferson Was In The Top 5 In The Nation In Scoring At TSU (Texas Southern University). Trae Got Into Trouble And Was Suspended From The Team. I'm Not Sure If He Returned.
He was terrible, he has a very low ft percentage and the team was terrible
I see people blaming North Carolina if you watched him play at North Carolina you would see that it wasn’t the schools fault he’s just not that good not to say he isn’t good enough for college basketball but he has the skill lvl of a back up plain and simple
I’m so mad he isn’t in the NBA😢😣😔
Not yet atleast
Courtical Hoops He isn’t going to the nba at all as bad as I wanna see him shine he isn’t going😔
幽灵天体 幽灵天体 you never know it could happen I wanna see him succeed but he might be an overseas dude
Tyrone Taylor He belongs In The NBA not overseas smh
幽灵天体 幽灵天体 I know that and you know that 😔 smh that might be the route he has to go tho if the opportunity doesn’t present itself which it should
Okay so I have a very strong opinion about this. I believe that the 1 year minimum for college rule completely screwed him. A team certainly would have taken him straight out of high school but instead he had to go to unc and conform to another mans idea of how basketball should be played...DISGUSTING
Lol he was ranked 40th in high achool
Plus even if he did somehow get to the NBA, there's no way he would've succeeded if he couldn't even he could prove his worth REGARDLESS of the college he went to. That's a huge reason, beside the other obvious things I could mention, they made the rule in the 1st place, b/c they all think they're ready to go straight to the NBA and giving them a chance to prove gives them more time to develop if needed and prevents NBA execs from really getting to see how they do against the next level of talent.
Good lord that's dumb.
dy120481 U talkin to me? Can u be more specific about what you agree with? I wouldn’t mind quickly debating it which is why it’s smart u only left a cryptic sentence 😊😉
@@travisoleszczuk7008 No, the original poster. I agree with you. Even if there weren't an age minimum put in place he'd still have to go through workouts, scrimmages, drills, etc... and teams would *IMMEDIATELY* see he wasn't ready, and now he'd also have lost his eligibility, so he'd go undrafted, *MAYBE* latch to a bench in the G-League and wouldn't get an education. It would be an awful situation for him, or anyone like him.
He’s at Morgan State now
College basketball coaches need to stop asking their players to adjust their games. It's the coach who's supposed to make most of the significant changes. It's what they're paid for. Asking the player to do give up the things that made him successful is similar to draining the powers from a superhero. Exceptional players are uniquely gifted and collegiate coaches have no business tinkering with a kid's future. Enhancement and gettting the most out of the recruits should be the priority. Adding elements is just as important. Players will have to face those possible choices when it's required as a professional, as men do. I'm sick of hearing stories where everything went downhill while attending the program that fought for and successfully recruited a player with claims of being a perfect fit.
He should have went to Georgetown!!!!!!!REAL TALK
Andre Curbello now🥵coby white🥵 meanwhile seventh woods is at morgan state
He’s going to go off at 4 for SC
It’s catch n shoot. Not everyone is gonna be able to do the James harden. These kids don’t start practing catch and shoot until it’s too late. I see a lot of pretty looking layup package workouts. Emoni Bates already doing catch n shoot. Dudes smart.
Dont give up on him. Wait till he got drafted
aquille carr still hooping.
Yal are outta yal minds he didn’t choose the wrong school he just never developed. He didn’t graduate a top tier player in his class. Why didn’t he work at his two most recent schools? Talent or wrong schools?
Morgan State
Ok so where is he now???????
As much as this makes analytical sense, it just doesn’t make basketball sense. I’m a huge UNC fan and if we are going to talk about fit and play style it’s the coaches job to recruit players that fit into their system not recruit players and try to change their game to make it fit.
Unfortunately we’ve all seen Roy Williams do this many times before. In part this is why Coach Williams has a hard time with recruiting the biggest names over Duke and Kentucky. Let’s not forget what he did with Dexter Strickland.
UNC is unfortunately becoming an all American grave yard because Roy is losing touch on so many levels from socially to advancements in the game
Its 15 million views 🤦🏾♂️
Literally only 3 months later it's 16 million views now too lol, not that big of a difference in the first place between 15 million and 16 million views, but whatever lol....
Some Guys games are made for the NBA not College. Some guys are built to be the Star Player with the ball in there hand. A lot like the PG’s of today’s NBA.
No one would have guessed Russell Westbrook would be going to the Hall of Fame and Sebastian Tellfair would be sleeping on his Mom’s couch.
It’s all about fit…… JR Smith was going to Carolina as well. But decided to go strait to the NBA strait from High School🤨
It worked out. But the school way of play could have taken away from his game. And may never even sniffed the NBA.
And if Seventh Dad’s name was Lavar he’d definitely be in the NBA😎
And then came Covid 19...so chance of shining got diminished.
Mitchell Robinson was UNFAIR in high school, his highlights aren't as catching.
He was a turnover machine
its always so painful listening to someone force in filler sentences to get 10 minutes. To save you all the torment, seventh woods got injured. ACL
From woods to sticks.
I went to school with seventh woods. We knew each other.
Ha! Small world.
How was he
Greatness he was amazing to watch. When he revealed which college he was going to go to nobody thought he was going to go to UNC. we all thought it was either Carolina or Clemson.
Don't count Goku out guys. 👑👑👑
EVERYBODY CANT MAKE THE NBA SO STOP IT!!! The kid is still in college for gods sake!!!!
Too much basketball 🏀, too early. His body broke down.
When you watch this video on april 19 2020
Video sucked! You never made a point. Just kept repeating yourself
Can’t wait till you make your apology video when he makes the league and win championships as the starting PG
Why's he gotta apologize? He's just analyzing what's happened.
You will never get that,he isn't G league material. Find him at the local rec center soon
