Great and helpful tutorial, thanks Team Kemper! I have three feedback comments based on my experience doing the upgrade to LV II & III today (October 3, 2024): 1) If using a brand new USB key, it has to be formatted first on Mac to FAT 35 or the files from the Player will not transfer to it; 2) The upgrade for both LV II & III now happens in one step (and not two as explained in the video); 3) Consider making a separate (shorter) video with a transcript that only has the (quite many) steps needed to do the upgrade process, from about minute 13:20 to minute 22:20 in the video. This way a separate tutorial video can be quickly found and the entire video upgrade explanation lasts only 9 minutes so is more efficient.
There should have been upgrade tutorials prepared and completed a week before the upgrade firmware was released. The upgrade firmware should have been a release not a beta. There should have first been a FREE update released for the current Player owners BEFORE the paid uograde. The free uograde should have just included ONE feature that Level 2 includes, maybe just morphing, or add one extra FX block, or add the Global EQ. Then Player owners would have been celebrating and when the paid upgrades was announced there wouldn't have been a viral explosion of negativity and complaints on social media and TH-cam. Bad marketing, not well thought out, badly executed, not taking into account guitarists psychology.
You can check out anytime you like but you can never leave. I have friends, full time pro guitarists who have bought and sold 4 or 5 Kempers, and a few months later buy another one because they realise they just can't get some of their Kemper tones on any other digital box.
@@guitartoneSA I have an Axe FX 3 and a Milkman the amp 100, happier with those than I ever was with the Kemper, better tone and versatility, FREE UPDATES, an editor that doesn’t look like excel with knobs that allows me to wire things in ways Kemper can’t , like running two amps in parallel!, a drive block that doesn’t have 3 versions of a Klon and honestly man I’ve been comparing them for more than a year and I had already made up my mind, Fractal is just better that’s why most ppl in the industry chooses them, so maybe your friends just need to try better alternatives
Nice that you also don't like these upgrades with additional(surprise) fees that's hidden under a hardware unit. Even as a Kemper lover. This should teach something to companies. Cheers!
@@mylogify Don't get me wrong. Paying for an update is ok, when you know that when buying a unit. In this video here they talk about that the amount of the update is ok, but imho it isn't, because no one told the customers that something like this is upcomming. Prox. 300€ on top is a no go in this way.
@kempman9811 I agree, I can be disappointed too if I had a Player. Bitwig Daw had the same paid features as add-ons, and entire community was against it, and talked about it, then luckily, they discontinued the add-on business type. There was similar situation with Current VST synth, like they wanted you to pay for a plugin synth forever, that you can't even own, but pay monthly to use it. People didn't like it, and they included then rent to own, or just buy directly. Cheers Kempman! Looking forward to new vids.!! :)

I can find a full feature toaster for less than a thousand all day long, probably a rack too, why would I spend over a thousand for a smaller product with less functionality (player + upgrades = more than the average used Kemper)
The latest version of the player OS is in public beta still. If we want to upgrade to lvl2 or lvl3, we need to use public beta? Is it too risky to use public beta on stage? When will be the stable release date?
Hotone just come out Hotone ampero ii with amp profile function. M-vave Tank-G have load amp profile function with just about $70. Tonex just announce FREE update and their software is awesome, you can have exact same sound inside DAW and inside pedal. Nano cortex can make and load profile. Headrush prime also does that and have autotune for vocal... Bro, Kemper is not the only choice anymore.
Hey guys, just did the update and upgrade as mentioned earlier today. I did not have to upgrade twice as you mentioned. I purchased LVL 2&3 and it immediately went to LVL with only one upgrade procedure. Greetz
This Kemper Player & these 2 level upgrade being charged ridiculous money, are DUMB & total NONSENSE! This is being greedy & taking their customers being so stupid! With the total of 1000 Euros, u can get a similar quality & feature sets from other company at that price & even a lot more from other company which cost a lot less!! Glad that me & all of my guitarist friends staying away from Kemper... Kemper thinks that all guitarist are stupid.
"Offer to upgrade" he calls it. The Player was capable of these things from the beginning. It is not an upgrade, it is paying extra for something you already bought. This is a disgusting business model. I will not be buying another Kemper product.
So if you buy a laptop with Windows S Mode, its a disgusting business model too? Because the laptop was capable of Windows Professional already before and Microsoft had the features already, but they make you pay extra for it? Same thing. And I disagree that you bought that features already in the Player. It was clearly stated what comes the Player with in LVL I.
@BerndOrttenburger If people knew, some upgrades was going to cost something, even something expensive, they would refuse to buy Player at the first place. Like many people. My opinion.
I considered buying Kemper player, but after these paid upgrades to a hardware unit, no longer interested in, paid add-on type of business model. It looked nice, and felt classy, but no longer. I wish they included these as a free upgrade, and this is only beginning. There'd be obviously Level 4 Level 5, it's becoming a subscription model. So staying with my Tube amp. for now, and Tonex, and other plugins.
I find it interesting that for those of us who bought Level III, there is no instruction on the Kemper website to install Level II and then install Level III. In fact the email with the code and the website makes no mention of doing that. how would that be done with only one code? This video is the first I’ve heard to do this. Of course, my player is garbage now as I can’t use any of the effects or see any of the expanded tiles in the app. I hope this gets sorted out quickly or else I’m moving on and away from Kemper. Kemper dropped the ball on this for loyal users who paid for the upgrade.
I do not understand all this complicated rigamarole! I was able to update Rig Manager (latest version 3.7.11) and also update the Profiler Player itself with no problem whatsoever through USB. I then purchased the LEVEL III Upgrade and installed that as well again through USB with no problem whatsoever! I DID NOT USE NOR NEED THE THUMBDRIVE WHILE HOLDING DOWN TWO BUTTONS TRICK AT ALL! This was much simpler and much easier than this video suggests. It works perfectly and now I have everything, four slots before the stack, four slots after the stack, morphing etc, you name it!
@@guitartoneSA Yes, I just Copied the Key Code from the email and the Rig Manager does the rest. Go up PROFILER, drop down and click "INSTALL FEATURE UPGRADE. It was ridiculously easy. Do not follow the directions on this video. I did NOT havt update to Level II like the say here.
As someone considering a Player after years of using a Head, I’m very interested in seeing videos about how to setup switches to get the most out of a Level 3, 8-slots, upgrade! Hoping you post that soon! Thanks.

Really, outdated? Go watch Leo Gibson do a shootout between a Kemper Liquid Profile and a QC Cortex Capture of the same amp and then using the Gain & EQ controls on both units. The Liquid Profile is 18% more accurate compared to the real amp.
Reading all these stupid comments makes my brain hurt and I can literally feel how I am getting dumber by the minute reading this. How can someone with a logical and rational mind seeing the matter with the upgrades as being greedy? Think about this for a second. The Level 3 gives you almost the functionality of a Kemper Stage but at smaller form factor and still almost 500€ cheaper than a Stage. They offer a Stage in pedalboard form. Now If they did not offer the upgrade options, they would have to charge more for the unit itself to cover the cost which would be not fair for all the users that dont need the added functionality. I am quite happy about the upgrade system as I dont need them so I can save money.
I spent about 2 hours trying to update…. Nothing….. It’s my first experience with KEMPER… and it’s super disappointing… I have a fractal fx3 and it’s so easy to upgrade … without sticks… and tricks… disappointing
