    Have you ever re-used old bicycle tyres? What did you make!? Let us know down below 👇

      I've used part of a tyre as a chainstay protector (sun faded cube aim pro with my daughter's artwork featured on gmbn tech top mods) but the main use has been to cut about 30cm of tyre, screwed it to a bit of wood used as little container / shelf for random bits and bobs in the shed.

    A few more great tips in the same spirit:
    - Use old tyres as grips
    - Use old tyres as shoes
    - Use old tyres as helmets
    - Use old inner tubes as condoms

    cut your inner tube so you have a straight tube then cut once down the length so you now have a long flat . Can halve its width again as well if you wish for smaller sections .Wrap around frame with a bit of stretch coiling it 'up' the frame and then bit of electricians tape top and bottom , or a thin section of inner tube like a rubber band looped round and tied off., Can do this on any part of the frame and will save you getting your paint work scratched.

    I've been using old tyres as chain stay protectors and frame protectors for 30 years before it was even a thing. The seat one I've done but it is unsightly though. But frame. Forks or handlebar. Just go crazy on the bike as extra protein of you lock your bike up with heavy chains and old tyre is excellent for that. Even makeshift grips or a extension to your mudguards. Be inventive.

  • @beaubolieu
    @beaubolieu ปีที่แล้ว

    Me as a mtb user but used mostly on road and diy some parts to repair or something, the only one useful here was the downtube protection with tires. Ive used the innertubes as rim tapes, or covering something that could potentially be damaged or scratched like the stanchions... Nah im good ill never put a tire theead on my saddles,
    As a steel bike user i put the tire under my downtube, to protect the cables. Yes the cables are exposed under the downtube of steel frames thats common. I choose protection on my bike's parts than looks, lol.

    Use them to protect items you put your bike on or against. Wrap them over the lip of a railing or edge to help protect both the bike and the ledge. Or against a wall where the handlebars or wheels touch and rub.
    You could even put them on the floor and scrub your shoes on them to help get the mud and dirt off.
