That just reminded me. I thought that their editor said there were no spoilers. But if they are only in Eines Lobby then they presumably havent actually met Garp yet.
Mackenyu Arata , the actor who plays Zoro, is known in Japan for his action scenes and the skill he has with martial arts and swords, the directors he has worked with have always talked about how he does all his stunts.
These actors are awesome. A lot of them did their own stunts save the very dangerous ones. For me the mkst impressive are Mackenyu (Zoro) and Taz Skylar (Sanji). I know Mackenyu has experience with katanas and swords because he did the live action Rurouni Kenshin movies which if youve seen them, you know how wild those fights are
I thought that I would hate this, but I actually love it. My love for One Piece makes this so much more enjoyable, couldn’t stop smiling watching and Iñaki actually plays a great Luffy which is VERY hard to do!
One little easter egg I loved in the first episode is the song that’s playing in the background when Shanks is stitching Luffy’s scar. Navi & Marketa, you’re not there yet in the manga (you’re 2 arcs away), but this song brings sadness to those who know.
I’m a huge One piece anime and manga fan and I’ve been bingeing this show and I gotta say so far it’s been really good, it’s very different but faithful at the same time, they just rearrange things to fit this medium and it works very well.
The actor they casted for Luffy is perfect for the role and the way they shoot his scenes is incredible. Production doesn't have to do much CGI with him because the actor has crazy long arms and they use practical camera effects very well to make the character look lanky. This series might be a rarity where the live action adaptation from anime is pretty decent.
I always think it's rather impressive how a film camera always makes people look significantly taller since I do believe Iñaki Godoy isn't actually tall only like 1,68 m
Watching One Piece make me understand why they did Cowboy Bebop the way they did. The silliness that doesn’t work for bebop works perfectly with Luffy’s manicness and One Piece’s style.
Yeah it's definitely gonna be that moral of the story. The one piece is indeed a treasure but the moral of the story is the friends made on this grand adventure. Oda also said kaido wouldn't lose in such a simple matter with a punch being the final blow yet...yeah
either way, the ending and the journey itself will be better than the Jarndyce and Jaundyce lawsuit in the Dickens novel 'Bleak House' - we're not stuck in a courtroom all for it and actually everyone is taking a risk in once piece, plus this story can't end the way that lawsuit ended.
8 episodes in and I seriously love this story so far. I don't even care if it doesn't completely mirror the anime. It can be it's own thing and I'd still love it.
One Piece is like the most cartoony manga/anime going on right now and they pretty much nailed the live action adaptation. There's no excuse for future projects
The 77th Marine base is actually a legit marine base in one piece. I think that's awesome that they actually referenced that and didn't make up some imaginary one like 207th.
24:22 "what are the odds of that?" i really laughed hard, because it sounded so genuine and so Luffy... and Nami's reaction was gold. Also, Nami fell on "the rubber man" so it's totally ok to survive xD
In the Japanese language, "l" and "r" are the same letter so when it's written using English letters, it can be written either way. That's why Zoro was written Zolo. This has led to some interesting moments, like when a Japanese dignitary congratulated a US President for winning the "erection". Fortunately, the President's staff had done their homework and the President was aware that the Japanese man was trying to say "election", so he responded appropriately to what the man was trying to say.
As a collaboration between Oda and Netflix some of the Japanese sensibility has been drained or deluded, but Oda worked to make sure his Japanese fans would not be disappointed. Also, to be expected adapting it from the anime and manga requires changes. With all of these projects a wider target audience is considered as well as pleasing hardcore fans. It is a challenge to balance multiple factors in order to create a series that can stand on its own as well as capture the spirit of the original and be a faithful adaption rather than a transformation of the original into something else. Oda and Netflix have made a true adaption. This is what happens when you actually intimately work with the creator and involve actual fans of the original, both the writers and the cast.
35:00 the "transponder snail" takes the face of whoever's on the other side, That's how you know who's calling(hence, the mustache and distinct facial features)
Best Netflix anime live action I've seen for sure. Apart from a few minuscule details in comparison it is a great watch for sure, and does the One Piece anime justice.
I really enjoyed the show…it was so good…yes it’s a little different than the anime(characters wise) but it’s supposed to be real people…and i say it’s accurate in a lot of the characters…I can’t wait for season 2 🔥🔥🧡🧡
@@siphosethumbaba7559Oh god I actually haven't thought about that... I was so happy the reception was so great, but for whatever reason, Netflix has a track record of cancelling what does well and only continuing shows that are hated 😢

IMPORTANT! before you watch episode 5 make sure you finish enies lobby first, becuase there are some spoiler from the manga, i dont want to spoil you guys but there are very important scene from the ending of enies lobby arc will be on this show
While I was never fully into the One Piece fandom, the anime was basically a part of my life for a VERY long time. What I love about this series from what I saw so far is that they keep to the spirit of the manga/anime but condensed A LOT which really helps with the pacing. I'm excited to see how far they'll go.
Everybody else, seeing Suraj's shirt: "The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything!" Me, seein SUraj's shirt: " *JIN-SOO SHI!!!* "
Suraj in the beginning of the video was kinda funny especially when he was waving and smiling after Marketa mentioned he's a newbie. He looks awkward but excited at the same time to watch the show.
For the answer about why viz translation uses Zolo. It’s because in Japanese R and L sound the same. Also I think they didn’t want to get copy right for naming a swordsmen zoro lol.
This was great! So glad to see this reaction, because the "One Piece" anime has been my favourite series since it began over a thousand episodes ago. As Navi and Marketta will tell you, the pilot condenses a good three or four anime episodes. It shuffles a few things around, and simplifies the story somewhat by introducing Nami earlier and making Koby's departure a little less dramatic. Also, the story of Luffy's past hasn't been told in full yet, whereas it was covered entirely in the first episode of both the comic and the show. But I love how they're going about it here, because it's so faithful to the heart of the characters. I think one reason for the discrepancy in the spelling of Zoro's name is to avoid confusion/copyright issues with the Californian pulp hero El Zorro. That's just a guess on my part, though.
I read a lot of comments these months, how best I go with low expectations so as not to be disappointed, or about the curse of live action, I only found out about the rumor 5 years ago, I couldn't stop supporting the project, I even made a channel from TH-cam for news about live action, I always had confidence and high expectations because I knew that those involved were fans, the cast was perfect, budget, How it should be for a series, and now I can say that it was worth every damn second of waiting and longing , ahh I couldn't stop getting excited with each scene of Luffy, I yelled, jumped, punched with a rubber-rubber pistol simply thanks for making my dream come true and I really hope it goes very well, Netflix confirms a second season and more people can. feel what makes this story unique ❤☠️
After all the failed Live Action Adaptation, I watched this one and thought: Was this really so hard to do? Seriously this show was great. I was optimistic, but cautious as well. I was hoping it'd at the very least be good. But this was amazing. I found myself laughing, crying and overall having a great time watching this show. I'm already hungry for season 2.
Man this brings me back. Back when I was only watching Naruto, it was around the chunnin exam on Cartoon network. My friend who had internet at his house told me about 2 great animes One Piece and Bleach. I watched these Big three for so long before watching and reading more animes and mangas. I stopped watching One Piece and just kept reading but this adaptation at least from the 1st episode looks AMAZING. Can't believe Naruto is also coming back. This is my childhood right there.
I have watched a lot of One Piece Live action reactions from long time fans, to new fans who have caught up and non-fans who know nothing or almost nothing about One Piece, but this is my first time watching a reaction from fans who have only reached Enies Lobby but hasn't finished it yet because now, you will not experience the same amount of shock we experienced in one of the last few episodes of the Enies Lobby Arc. That was a fun reveal.
I hope Season 2 comes out. I can't wait to see how they do Chopper. Sonic looked fantastic, after the backlash, so I think there is a chance they come out looking pretty great!
I went into this pretty new, only seen like 30 or so episodes years ago, thinking it'd be neat to see but my expectations were pretty low... I came out of this wanting more! I absolutely loved the live action adaptation, it had that fun/silly/yet emotionally impactful feeling that was just really fun to watch with my friends. The casting feels good, the set pieces, the outfits, the camera work, and the writing and changes all felt pretty good. Even if the CGI wasn't like the BEST EVER, I think they did it well enough and thematically fit the powers to the point where you just don't care, it's just fun to watch
"Im excited that you guys are excited." that was my sister during the whole execution scene bc I didn't expect it right away and I was already blown away by the good casting and attention to detail.
34:40 In the Japanese language, the L sound is not used, and there is no character in their alphabet to write that sound. So R and L often get mixed up in translation to English. Generally speaking, it's safe to assume R over L, since R is a sound that actually exists in their language, and is likely the sound that they meant, unless they're trying to anglicize a name, or make something cross language (like in Death Note). Many translators like to assume intent, and change Rs to Ls due to those assumptions. That's why Zoro's name, in some early translations, came to us as Zolo.
All you guys should react, its very friendly to people not familiar with One Piece and would maybe bring them into the manga / anime. Either way it'd be enjoyable. I also think this is the perfect show for your big crew (no pun intended) reactions
ok, just a heads up for the girls, Garp's introduction actionally happen after Enies Lobby in post Enies Lobby arc. But they are going to spoil it in this LA
Maaan. idc if it’s the Live Action or not. Anytime we get One Piece content on The Normies it’s a great time! Welcome new namaka Suraj! You got the 2 perfect people to watch the series with! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Look forward to the Adventure!
I finished all 8 episodes already and man, this series is so good. I generally can enjoy live action anime, but will fully adapt they tend to be terrible adaptations. The only ones I've seen that really capture the originals are the Rurouni Kenshin movies (of which Zoro's actor Mackenyu plays the final villain and is a BEAST), and Kakegurui. But this is incredible. Sure they have to change some things and condense others, but it all works to serve the story. It's perfect and I need S2 NOW.
The actor who plays Zoro is the son of a legendary Japanese Martial Artist and actor Sonny Chiba. You may know him as Hattori Hanso in Kill Bill. His father and him have a big following in Japan.
In Japanese "L" and "R" sound the same, so translators have to make a choice till they have more information. Thats why the Zolo vs Zoro or the Loguetown vs Roguetown. It's been a very fun day seeing the One Piece explosion all over youtube.
The luffy actor is from one of my favorite Netflix shows so I knew he was going to be good in this I don't anything about one piece so I'm just watching it because he's in it
My favorite part of the first episode was right at the beginning, thinking "Damn, whose job is it to pain pink hearts on *every single cannonball*?" Then immediately thinking "Oh, right. Koby. It's probably Koby's job."
in the world of One Piece, pirates hold much honor on a higher bounty on their heads, it makes them more famous. As the story progress, you guys will meet people with devil fruit powers, some are unique, some are crazy, and very powerful.
the reason it's Zolo in the early manga is because the estate of Johnston McCulley (who wrote the original Zorro pulp stories) is notoriously litigious when it comes to their IP, so anyone with a name that even sounds like 'Zorro' and wields a sword will potentially get sued into oblivion.
Fun fact: During a question answer session where Oda was asked by his fans, what country would each of the Strawhats belong to if they exist in the real world, Luffy would be Brazilian. So in turn, they found themselves a Brazilian actor to play him. That’s how you know how much love and attention was put into this series
I really wanna see a full cast reaction for the One Piece anime. I haven’t finished the live action, but so far it’s good. I know you’ll enjoy the anime just as much

Think they’re reserving that for the anime eventually
If they were all to react, they wouldn’t go in blind to the anime, tho the live action changes stuff
I disagree, although I liked the live action I do thing the anime is better so I'd rather they watch the anime than the live action.

Ehh, I prefer the 3-5 size groups tbh.
The actor for Zoro, Mackenyu, did previous work on the Kenshin live action films.
His father, Sonny Chiba, was a legendary actor in his day as well.
He’s KILLING it as Zoro. So damn cool
and as with all actors who have played badass anime swordsmen, Mackenyu is a former Kamen Rider :P
Shout-out the actor for luffy❤

I dont think they know about Garp - he has his proper introduction in post ennies lobby. There are about to get spoiled😂
Somebody tell ‘em to read faster
That suprise!
ok, just a heads up for the girls, Garp's introduction actionally happen after Enies Lobby in post Enies Lobby arc. But they are going to spoil it in this LA
I clicked the notification so fast that the video doesn't even have the 1080p option yet lmao.
Maaan. idc if it’s the Live Action or not. Anytime we get One Piece content on The Normies it’s a great time! Welcome new namaka Suraj! You got the 2 perfect people to watch the series with! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Look forward to the Adventure!
Zoro, Chopper, and Suraj react to one piece live action. Zoro is living his casting. Chopper is happy to see the crew and Suraj is happy to be here
Zoro, Chopper and young Black Beard, you mean.
@@tibsky1396 😂 nooo we cant drag him down to teach level........buut the beard...if he had a headscarf.....
This is my first time seeing One Piece.
Enjoyed watching it and recognized why the franchise is loved by many.
It wouldn’t be a spoiler but it is shown later that the bounty of Gold Roger exceeds 5.5 billion berries at the time of his execution.
I love that Surj needs to be almost every reaction on this channel whether he knows anything about the show or not.
The luffy actor is from one of my favorite Netflix shows so I knew he was going to be good in this I don't anything about one piece so I'm just watching it because he's in it
Mr. 7 was canon, but only mentioned in an SBS. He tried to recruit Zoro before he met Luffy. Both the manga and the anime didn't show it though.
My favorite part of the first episode was right at the beginning, thinking "Damn, whose job is it to pain pink hearts on *every single cannonball*?"
Then immediately thinking "Oh, right. Koby. It's probably Koby's job."
When Marketa was trying to recognize who the voice at the beginning was, I was 1000% sure it was Gerard Butler talking. It sounds exactly like Stoic.
in the world of One Piece, pirates hold much honor on a higher bounty on their heads, it makes them more famous. As the story progress, you guys will meet people with devil fruit powers, some are unique, some are crazy, and very powerful.
It was filmed in South Africa we super proud!
the reason it's Zolo in the early manga is because the estate of Johnston McCulley (who wrote the original Zorro pulp stories) is notoriously litigious when it comes to their IP, so anyone with a name that even sounds like 'Zorro' and wields a sword will potentially get sued into oblivion.
The guy looks like the crazy undercover cop in Brooklyn 99, i love it ❤
ohhhh you do manga read-alongs?? WHAT! I need to get in on that.
I know you’ll enjoy the anime just as much
Huge success from the show, glad you guys reacted to it❤😩
It's a shame we didn't get the 4kids intro that went "Yo ho ho he took a bit of gum gum" 🎶
