- The airport has invested Rs 390 crore to extend a taxi track that will take aircraft right to the head of the primary runway for take-off and also construct rapid exit taxiways for planes to quickly move off the runway after landing.
We will soon embark on a project to expand both the domestic and international wing of the integrated terminal to add more than 4,000 sq m or around 45,000 sq ft. This will augment the annual capacity of the integrated terminal from 26 million to 28 million,” said Kolkata airport director C Pattabhi.
Now these days many international destinations are open for Kolkata such as Dubai, Qatar, Doha, Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Min City, Hongkong, China, Phuket etc.
New Expansion will help more airlines to show interest.

not zero value. Cosmetic makeover matters. But bussiness class passengers are increasing from CCU and hangers needs to be provided for additional aircrafts. You need to make the airlines choose this airport. Otherwise there are many other airports they can go to.
No use of cosmetic makeover. Without industrial growth and top notch infrastructure these changes will have no value or utility.
Just look at the roads of Kolkata and it is evident as to the abysmal conditions prevailing.

These are not so call development. Go and see Delhi and Mumbai Airport. Really world class when compared to other international airport. Recently I came via Doha as Delhi. It was mind bogling to see both these airport especially Doha. Creators of these video should think we are no gaining we are loosing positions everyday in many areas, and everyone knows what needs to change

Not really developing but developing ! Because of lack of space and also the ATC tower which is being made was supposed to be the longest ATC tower in whole country even bigger than Delhi but it's being made shortest compared to whole of India because of lack of interest to make our airport more attractive and advanced which is also required for major airlines to operate! Airport cost, Parking Cost and all those stupid fees which they demand from airlines operating from CCU make it Unviable for any airline to even show interest in Kolkata.
