Hi, if I align the camshaft marks, my crankshaft reads 4 degrees before the OT mark. Supposedly I have to put my injection pump at 24 degrees, but if I am already 4 degrees off, would I now add 4 to the 24 degrees and set my crank at 28 degrees, zero my injection pump and install it? Thanks
Wish I could help, but I sold this car in 2018 and haven't been into an OM615, OM616, or OM617 engine since. Even when I made this video, I was new to inspecting timing on these cars. Unfortunately, I just don't have the ability to answer that.
+Michael Sackstein I thought I'd mentioned that... Yes, got it and installed it last Tuesday. Spent the week on little items. Waiting on parts now for the final round of under-the-hood repairs.
Oh nice. I don't recall whether or not you mentioned it since it was late at night when I watched it. Glad you got that situation resolved. On a side note, I ran into a similar situation on the pilot I formerly drove which is now my brothers daily driver. Basically I went to replace the cabin filter on the car since it had a foul smell through the HVAC system, and it's sort of a pain in the ass because the glove box has to come out so when I went to reinstall it these 2 nuts that hold the glove box in place both stripped out on me which left it dangling by the lock for a couple weeks until I could get the right parts to fix it. Took me sometime to locate them I had to go to a couple dealers but thankfully I got them and all is well.
