I miss this core of players they were with out a doubt the most exciting Philadelphia sports team to watch in my life so far and I am 40. They were never out of a game they grinded out every at bat just a pleasure to watch. Only thing I regret is that they didn't win multiple titles they should have they were so talented it's a shame.
I agree. I'm 29 and grew a 4-for-4 fan. But out of any team in any sport, this group of guys never felt like they were never out of a game. The '08 and '09 teams especially felt like they were almost untouchable. If it weren't Utley, JRoll, or Howard, you just KNEW someone else was gonna step up and make an impact. Had the same feeling with the 2017-18 Eagles. Guess that's why two of those teams won championships -- takes a full roster, top to bottom, to make it all the way.
I was at the game 1 in 2011 where Howard hit the big homer. By far the loudest i've ever heard citizens bank. If we beat the cardinals in the first round that year, no doubt we were winning the whole thing

Too bad the Phillies couldn't win another World Series in that run but hopefully the Phillies can win another title and repeat as World Champions someday. What else would be cool is if they break the division streak record set by the Braves from 1991-2005 although the 1994 season was excluded because of a strike.
@@mikerusso703You're out if your mind if you think this current team can't win. In 5 season they made 2 WS appearances, a win and a loss, an NLCS loss, and an NLDS loss. Since 2019, they have a WS loss and an NLCS loss, and have only just locked up their core players. This current group of players could be viscious.
We forget how special that '08 team was. I don't care who the AL threw at us that year. They could have put the '27 Yankees out there and it would have been a 5 game series. They mashed the crap out of the ball and got dynamite pitching. Speaking of which, what's left out was Myers' at bat before Victorino's grand slam vs Milwaukee. He had like a 10 pitch at bat and worked a walk which HAD to affect Sabbathia. After that first win it was all academic. Sadly the pitching didn't hold up the next year because that's why we lost to the Yankees. Even Hamels wasn't that great.
If you pause at 1:53 you see John middleton in the background
The Carlos Ruiz HR in game 3 of the 08 World Series, my dad caught the ball

The 2009 NLCS has always been bittersweet for me. Wolfy pitching against us always make me sad.
Wow - You sometimes forget just how F’n good these lineups were.
great vid

POV: your here after Jean Segura's opening day walk off
I was going to do 2007 as well but mlb doesn't let anyone watch videos from 13 years ago in their old format

Victorino quietly staring down Wade after tying the game.
The Phillies just demolished the Dodgers
7:24 Other than the last out of the '08 World Series, I don't think I've ever heard a crowd erupt as loud as that at a Phillies game.

The team 2007-2011 had talent, yes,but also had tremendous heart...
The Philly teams today do show some talent but zero heart, except for Harper..

John Miller + Joe Morgan > Joe Buck + Tim McCarver

Damn it’s been a decade since the Phillies last made the playoffs. 😞
Depressing that Ben Francisco has the last Phillies playoff home run...
The Phillies croud is more live then any crowd I ever seen on the postseason y'all love the fuck out of some postseason phillies baseball
Couldn’t throw in the 2007 homeruns?
