Love the video. You hit all the right notes! It's hard to find modern games that really stand out, I would have to say I'm grateful for the indie gaming creators who have been pumping out work that carries the magic of older games to the new age.
Damn great video. Subbed. Def not just nostalgia. I’ve played so many title recently through emulation that I’ve never touched prior and I still get that same satisfaction.
1st. If you paid attention to the names of all the sages, you can see they have a title that matches their element's theme. Windcaller priestess, General of the gravel stone, Lord of the summer haze, Master of the curtain mist, Jester of the prime moon, Bishop of white night and Diva of the twilight. The Diva's isn't an element, but it still follows the trend, she controls balance and harmony... Opposing forces, such as that represented by the concept of twilight. The Diva part I'm assuming was granted to her for her beauty, stated in the game. She's not at all some evil witch ruler whatever. She's another sage.
I wish you would have talked about the multiplayer aspect of the game. I always felt like story mode was a glorified tutorial and multiplayer was where it really shined. But as much as I love lostmagic (it's my favorite NDS game), the story was pretty lackluster. That being said, great review! It's nice for LostMagic to get some recognition for once considering how badly it was marketed.
So... games were generally more innovative back then because it was gaming's first Renaissance. From around 83 to 2006, there was so much new happening in the industry. Much like how music went through the rock Renaissance between the 50s and 80s.
I loved this game personally the difficulty and complexity of the game is what made it i think. your bashing this game pretty hard it is really underated
Nostalgia does play a role - anyone arguing otherwise doesn't understand human psyche - but the game industry back then was far less developed and as consequence more innovative. You could tell when small teams have a passion for a project. That's not to say people weren't cloning ideas from eachother in the 90s, but games were willing to diverge or try new things far more readily.
The one game that brought me that magic back everytime I came back to it was actually animal crossing on the GameCube it’s replay ability is just unmatched and I think thats what new games are missing that infinity replay ability that many old games had, great video btw!!
So... about 5 minutes in I had to pause this and go to the comments. I couldn't stomach the video anymore, so if I say something that is addressed by this video, I'm sorry, I just couldn't stand it.
When it comes to recent games that prioritized art style over graphical fidelity, Prince of Persia the Lost Crown looks great with backgrounds that have great scale to them and have that painted look to them.
But none of this is the reason why I felt compelled to post. Why I wanted to post is that you judge the game inaccurately, and harshly- without even what seems as a semblance of understanding. Far as I gathered.
The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past DEFINITELY holds up. I recently played through it again after about 25 years (last full playthrough i did was in 1998). I got just as engrossed and invested as i was when i first played it as an 11 year old kid. Amazing experience.
This game's gameplay is hands down the most entertaining game I've ever had to come across. It's story isn't too creative but to be honest, I even enjoy that. I enjoy that I don't have to sink obscene amounts of brain cells into it like the Kingdom Hearts series, another game with amazing gameplay.
I hadn't played Silent Hill 2, Half-Life, Portal, Silent Hill 3, or F.E.A.R. until 2018 at the earliest. I love those games to death now. It's 100% not a nostalgia thing... they're just amazing games that have something that newer games just don't. Even those games' subsequent releases were just not as good, imo. Really interesting.
I loved this game. The story is basic but man was the spell casting fun. I don't remember having too many issues with the difficulty but I was 15 when it came out. Multiplayer was a blast btw.
Pokemon taught me to always look in the trash and visit people homes to learn about their snippit of life. Being locked out of Grandpa Gurungos house and not getting told that his granddaughter battles Cynthia but lost due to her Spoink sneezing getting it Kod by Garchomp. Borderlands taught me to look under stairs and actually explore the world fully for hidden content. Games lacking the smaller scope things have hit really hard in the immersion field. And compared to modern games the oldies were less hand holdey in terms of consequences. I played Splinter Cell for the first time and shot the lady I rescued in the head. I was shocked cause i legit forgot we used to have freedom in choice and got told I failed and then mission failed lol nowadays you'd just get an x appearing over the crosshair and inability to shoot.
hey again my friend!:) can I look forward to any Final Fantasy games? like from 1-10? haha, kingdom hearts? secret of mana? suikoden ii? chrono cross? I think u have done the last two I mentioned tho. great series, keep it up!
I think the line "It's just nostalgia." Is the most dismissive thing ever. I play older games I have never played before, zero nostalgia for them. Yet some of them are night and day better than a lot of modern releases. I also play a lot of modern releases that are better than a lot of older games. My experience comes down to why it was made. Was it made purely for profit? Because 99% chance it's gonna blow if it was. Was it made by a small team who loves games and had a really awesome idea for one? Because 99% chance it's gonna be an amazing game.
The other sages had been defeated, they couldn't be trusted with the wand of light if they lost the wand of the element they know how to use anyways -.-
I got to hear "Not sure if you like or hate the game" I understand this, because some people are more interested in story than gameplay. That being your only worthwhile reason, if it isn't, then I disagree with you.
some of it is nostalgia, but no one with a clear mind can honestly say "its just nostalgia" after comparing stealth in star wars outlaws to stealth in metal gear solid 2 and 3 or the splinter cell games. clearly some key ingredients to the sauce have been forgotten.
I love how you go into detail about each aspect of the game, from the graphics to
I always look forward to your game reviews, keep them coming!

I appreciate the fact that you don't sugarcoat your opinions, even if they're not
This is the best game review I've seen in a while, well done.
I love how detailed your reviews are, keep up the great work!

I love how passionate you are about gaming, it really shows in your reviews
I loved you review. Truly honest and fair. Lost magic is a very fun game but it's true that has special issues that make the gameplay less smooth.
This is one of the most informative reviews I've seen on this game, thank you for

I appreciate the time and effort you put into making these reviews, it really shows.

You have a real talent for game reviews, keep it up!
You really know your stuff when it comes to games, keep up the great work.
Очень интересный ролик!
I've been on the fence about buying this game, but your review helped me make up

This video reminds me of Internet Pitstop, which is one of my favorites. So, I would say I'm in good company with this channel.

Your review was so thorough, I feel like I already know how to play the game.

Your review was so good, I had to subscribe to your channel.
This was no doubt one of the hardest games of my childhood. I’m not sure why found this video now but I won’t complain at all.
To me it’s simple, Games then were Passions, but now there are products

The genre of dudes in front of green screens talking about video games will always be one of my favorites.
Man to me this is easily one of the best DS games i've ever played. I freaking love this game.
Unbelievable - more content than every single game put together on the PS4 and PS5 put together.

Ok so my fav DS game had multiplayer that I didn't know about. Gimmie my childhood back!
An other awsome review! Have you ever playd Silhouette Mirage for ps1?

You were playing this game when you were a KID?! It came out in 2006 !!!
You plannin' to do a Suikoden 3 review?

How to downloead? pls tell me!
This is so bad it's good lol
And where in the contract does it say I need crappy jokes for reviews D: oh man I better fix this before I get sued on my main channel D:!
