I went to Avebury on a school trip back in the 80s. I can remember it was chucking it down and my 13yr old self being most unimpressed with a bunch of stones in a muddy field or two. Now that age has mellowed me somewhat I can finally appreciate the wonder that they are. So thanks Dave, not just for this walk but also for the amusing trip down memory lane!
I've been suffering bouts of anxiety these past few weeks. Your walks are allowing me some peace and a great deal of pleasure. My husband and I were in Avebury during our honeymoon in England 33 years ago so this was a bit of a walk down memory lane as well. Best wishes Dave and thank you.
For someone whose wanderlust is the English countryside, I thoroughly enjoy your walks as you amble about the quaint, historic places I hope to explore some day. Thanks so much. P.S. The bells were a nice touch 🤗.
Thank you so much for a fantastic walk!! I was just in England last week and I had hoped to make it to Avebury, but it was after dark when we arrived and missed all the beautiful scenery. Your walk made me feel like we were there, thank you so much!!❤
What a great walk with so many interesting spots! I learned so much from it! I love trees in general, so the Tolkien trees were super neat to see! Thanks so much Dave for another wonderful walk!❤
Dave, just found your channel. Started watching ramblac who walks around Japan and got into the quiet walks around other countries thing. So happy to have you making this kind of content in England. I've been a fan of England since my school days, always felt it had a sort of beauty that isn't glamorous like Dubai or Miami but is rustic and homely in a way that feels very human. I'm loving walking around the nation with you!
thank you for another Spring walk. Avebury is HUGE! when I visited it 50 years ago I must have only seen half as we finished up at the museum in the village. Interesting tree with intertwined roots... and ribbons.
Just found your channel, Dave, a lovely walk. Thank you. I visited Avebury a few years ago, very atmospheric it was, and it rained that day too 🙂 . Bell ringers coould do with more practice, lol. I expect that's what they were doing the day you were filming. 🙂
Avebury is a very pretty village with lots of lovely houses, some with thatched roofs!!. A village in bloom too. Thank you for the shade making a friendly wave!!. It was friendly... And then this gigantic circle of standing stones that made me think of "Outlander" immediately. I loved these novels and these legendary heroes. These magnificent trees, decorated, challenged me too. If they and the stones could talk, they would have exciting things to tell us!!. It's a wonderful walk!!. Thanks Dave. 😀😀😀😀😀
I love your videos! After coming home from a long day at work, I love to set a video of yours on to de-stress as I go about my evening. Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing me some much needed respite in the middle of a busy life. And combining history and serenity... I couldn't ask for more. Keep up the good work!
I have been looking at the Neolithic Stone Circle with Google Maps and it is really awesome to be able to have a walkthrough with your video at the same time.
I used to live in Calne just down the road. My husband drove through Avebury twice a day on his way to work. I worked in what was Stones Restaurant for a few years in the 80s. We walked our dogs here at the weekend. It was a lovely trip down memory lane. It wasn’t so busy then. It will always have a place in my heart

I assumed (perhaps wrongly?) that he was asking about that particular day that I was filming, which was indeed a cold day. Although right now is also a bit of a jumper day. shouldn't rain though I hope :)

Ah the OG rambalac! He was the first, and is arguably the founder of the entire no talking genre! It was his videos that inspired me to buy a camera!
