Great to see Simon Brenner a lot in these video's. An underestimated genius who brought so much layers in the songs, and determined the sound of Talk Talk in those years so much
I'm in shock 64 is way too young to die. Today something drew me to try and find out how Mark Hollis was able to live. I wanted to find out how he made a living. Instead I found out he died. I am 69 been listening for 35 years . Watching him live now all I can think o is 'he's dead' What a fascinating person. A musical genius.
@@Annabulf That's nice to know other people appreciate Mark Hollis. I was a huge Genesis and Peter Gabriel fan. Seen Genesis 5 times and Peter twice. I will still listen to Suppers Ready and Battle of Epping Forest and Side 4 of The Lamb but I always end up listening to Talk Talk more.
oh man, what a treasure! that 1st album they did was so brillaint. it had such a big airy sound, yet so textured. i wondered how they pulled that sound off live w/ just the 4 of them. quite well, i can see! thanx for the post, Pat!

Love their first album, becouse it´s quite powerful. Mark´s vokals are louder and he´s performing full of passion. Although it´s much more simple and too synthy, compared to their later albums, they had already a great quality. Besides, the lyrics were already brilliant…. Anyway, Mark Hollis remains incomparable! love, love, love…..
I disagree about the synth sound, the synth is an incredible powerhouse of an instrument with an unlimited vast range of sounds, noises and an infinity of variable pitches, I find it haunting and full of melodic surprises. I love that electronic drum sound too the super deep almost hypnotic beat sound, the drummer is also like a machine, beautiful.
I've been reading the recent biography of Hollis & *amazed* that UK music critics thought he had *no* *voice* -- they will soon be long dead, people will be listening to his voice for the next hundred years.
Absolutely, indeed, my my saw him aged 17 after their 3rd album, most expressive intense émotional voice that cannot be imitated, a music box in itself
hi Talk Talk band, special people are like songs we hear, we like and we never forget God chose the best musical notes to compose Mark Hollis, Lee Harris, Paul Webb. Hug 🙏🇧🇷
Yes it is. I like it when performers dress like that live. I will still listen their music. If it were me I would wear a suit - Check out The Hives see what you think check out several videos.

Yes, I agree. And this band might have not existed without him. A great keyboardist and pianist for sure!
Timeless and Priceless ....
TALK TALK belongs to one of the greatest bands ever.
All musicians who play in TalkTalk band are excellent, talented, blessed by God. Longing. Hug
They are in a class of their own
What a intense, fierce boy Mark Hollis was! Amazing, such a beautiful live performance of 'The Party's Over', thank you so much for posting this!

@@leonardvaivada9046 Oh yes, almost the same for me, Genesis are the best to me (unfortunately I saw Peter only once, Steve 5 and never Genesis).
I am a Genesis fan, too but I am devastated about Mark's death. He was a beautiful genius. God bless him.
@@leonardvaivada9046 Funny, I'm a huge Genesis and Peter Gabriel fan too! Many people here seem to be. Love it!
A superior music legacy Mark and Talk Talk wrote.
They still sound great 34 years later...this is one band that I wish would re-form just once...for their fans!
So sad that as of February 25, 2019 this became impossible. 😢
Rest in peace, Mark.

I read Mark saying that the synth was only because they could not afford a lead guitarist at this point. lol
