    In episode 25 of our monthly foxing series with 260RIPS (Mark Ripley), the action kicks off with some invaluable advice on how to shoot a .22LR at long range. Mark is an experienced long range shooter and his tips should help you stretch your own set-up out a that little bit further. After demonstrating on some targets, Mark puts the theory into practice and takes out a super long range pigeon with deadly accuracy.
    Later in the video, it's time to get the .243 Mauser out to deal with a fox that has been preying on some game birds. Scanning and shooting from the truck thanks to the awful weather, Mark gets lucky and continues on foot for a night of thermal foxing.

    I recently put a match barrel on my 22 and now kicking myself I didn't do this years ago. Don't accept that usual lousy 22lr accuracy, just pay up for something like this and you won't regret it - basically it feels like a real gun rather than a half way house.

    Mark, enjoyed your segment of this video and respect your skills. However, it would be great for the greater body of shooters to have witness marks on scopes and rings so that we could get our equipment set up more easily. Makers of scopes, rings and rifles should be able to make this possible?????? Thanks for sharing your experience.

    I hope this doesn’t sound like a stupid question, but here goes . Why is it when marks shooting at night and at distance you never use the windage app. But seem to get clean shots at 200 plus yards and the mic is clearly picking up wind.

    • @ShootingCountryTV
      @ShootingCountryTV  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Windage is a difficult thing to judge and a lot of the time rather than using the app I will go with experience of what I think it will be rather than the app simply because it’s constantly varying!
      Also the mic maybe picking up a wind blowing directly towards or away from me which will have little effect on the bullet 👍

Do I just change the details in the Profile examples, or is there another place to start? I have messaged Element NZ, but no response yet. Thanks Mark

    Why the element in moa and your ranging in mtrs?

    • @260rips
      @260rips 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s simply because I brought a pair of r/f binos in metres secondhand and I’ve always worked in Moa, in honesty it make little difference as you can change units of measurement in the app so once you have entered the range it makes no odds 😉

    • @260rips
      @260rips 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The chrono is spot on but sometimes you need to tweak the velocity you put into the app to get the drops exact but as it happens I didn’t need to, both crono and app were spot on 😉

      I’d go for a thermal spotter over a scope initially or both if you can afford it! The pulsar spotters are my preferred choice I think but the InfiRay th50 v2 is the best thermal scope I’ve used 👍
