When I was around 18, my favorite band was Dream Theater and my best friend's favorite musician was Devin. I remember he and I were so excited when Systematic Chaos and Ziltoid came out in the same summer. Seeing Devin singing with Dream Theater last night at this show was surreal for me.
Was there close to the front. James just cant do it anymore. Unfortunately is taking the band down with him. They were the pinnacle of what musicians strive for but the the vocals are just so bad now i almost couldnt take it. Devin coming out and singing actually convinced me that they need to let James go or break up. It is incredibly sad as i have seen them twice to three times a year since awake. Im sure the decision is tough for thr guys because they are family at this point. This will be the last tout with James . John is too much or a perfectionist to keep doing this.
Right. I don't like to dunk on a 60 year old dude making a living but that high tenor singing does not go well with aging. I hope he retires voluntarily without any animosity towards the band and the fans. He's still a legend but the time has come for him to call it quits. I mean, Michael Jordan is arguably the GOAT but I don't think his fans will appreciate it if he comes out of retirement and play again.
And there are some people saying the opposite. He can't sing, he never knew how to sing properly. Now is evident. Age has nothing to do with high notes or singing. There are 80 years old tenor singers still singing high C. He is ruinning everything DT achieved.
