    I saw your tank when it was placed in the conservatory and it’s so well done that I thought you bought it like that. I don’t see the issues you see the fish are spot on. Just love it!

    I am sitting here holding this attempt at a mini bay window together while the wood glue dries and your voice is so soothing I fell asleep. I have been struggling with insomnia lately so I don't think it was because I wasn't interested but fatigue just won the battle! I was listening to the differences between male and female piranhas when I nodded off! I should keep that in mind, that piranhas lifestyle is capable of knocking me out! Lol I haven't slept a whole night for at least a week so it's my general fatigue that won out lol!
    Their eyes are big. I think they look great..I think my witches cottage needs an aquarium with something strange in it. If not fish then a snake or other reptile or a spider! Yeah that would be creepy! You always give me great ideas!

    Next time, you can add a bit of resin to the bottom of the plant, put the plant into place, then cure it. It should help keep it in place as you add the rest of the resin in. Also, your piranhas are super cute.

    When painting super tiny things like this I like to use some sticky tack and a toothpick, add sticky tack to the toothpick then stick the sticky tack onto the tiny thing where you're not painting and it gives you a good handle and won't hurt your project.

    I like it, but if you ever decide to remake a new tank let me give you an idea. We had friends who had piranha in a fish tank. It was upsetting to me, but, they put goldfish in there to swim as food. You would see goldfish swimming around half eaten. I had no idea they could swim without back fins, but anyway, they do. Seeing as it's an Addams house, it may be a nice touch. Excuse the word nice.......LOVE THE FIX! Perfect!
    I made a reptile enclosure aquarium. One of our dollar stores had some realistic lizards for sale for 10 per $1. I built the aquarium from acrylic and balsa, yes I painted the slats black first - lol. The walls are tiny pink, brown, white pebbles with egg carton sides. I used a spaghetti sauce seasoning I was given but won't use in food due to MSG for the floor bedding, looks real. I put in a stone "water feature" with strips of dried tacky glue. I added leaves, small plants and a few flowers, and a vine for the lizards. Lizards eat some flowers. I made a couple of ants out of beads & wire to climb on the walls and a couple of tarantulas I made up from flower centers. The lizards have to eat, after all. I made a lid from wood and a real strong cardboard photo frame back that has the little hanger on it. I painted it black and bent up the hanger to create a handle like real tank covers have. Under the lid I glued in aluminum foil and tacked in a small string of white lights. When I plug it in it looks so real my daughter-in-law thought it was a real lizard tank - though much smaller than a real one, I love it!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow that is crazy sounding! I can't even imagine a half eaten fish swimming around :o Good thing I don't plan to own my own piranhas... I couldn't do that to a little fish!! But that would add an interesting little detail. Your lizard project sounds amazing!! I love when people think my creations are real... such a compliment!

    Just catching up on your videos...I'm loving your mistakes as much as the finished fish tank! Curved glass is very expensive and the Addams family is very wealthy, so it seems to me that they'd have a very unique fish tank. I think I could make one of these if I watch it again and write down steps so I don't mess up. You're awesome and this was seriously entertaining! LOL Thank you! (I play the harp and when I was taking lessons, years ago, my teacher told me that when I make a mistake, make it sound intentional. I try that with miniatures. If I mess up, I make it look intentional. Kind of like a cat falling off furniture. "I meant to do that" LOL)

    Sugar Charm is a really great channel, but she does a lot of very sweet little things. I enjoy her stuff, but I like this sort of "darker" (but, not to me) project! My taste in dolls are bit more gothic, Sci-Fi or fantasy types. So, I love how your fish tank turned out!! It's perfect for this project! You are inspiring me a lot, even though I have dolls in 1/6 scale I may still try to figure out how to make a larger one anyway! Thanks! I'll be taking a look at your other vids! New subscriber!!

    Ara, a great fun experiment as always (minus the fumes of course)! Love those lil bulldog-faced PC fishies, they're so cool! Did you know you can colour PC with chalk pastel or mica powders before baking? The sticky polymer holds the colour on - it's so clever :) I just bought my 1st batch of PC, so get ready for me to sculpt (badly) & burn stuff too LOL. I noticed the colours you tried in the UV resin were acrylic paint & acrylic ink. I understand that UV resin is a polyester resin & polyester rejects adhering to some other polymers e.g. epoxy glues & resins; Looks like it probably doesn't stick to acrylic polymers either. Sandrartes tints resin with both chalk pastel & alcohol ink, but I've never tried those, my experience with is limited to the concentrated colours actually made for my 2 part resin. The company I buy resin etc from here in Australia specialises in moulds, resins etc & they have lots of info on their site to learn about resins, mould making etc if it helps (like a free e-book & free e-course etc) at Aldaxstore.com.au

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info. I will have to try with the chalk pastel next because I already have those. Thanks for the sharing the link, I am sure it will be helpful. Have fun creating with your new PC!

    I know this is very late in the game, but I have aquariums, and anything bigger than a 10 gallon typically has a brace that goes in the middle across the top. It’s meant to keep the glass from bowing out when filled with water - the opposite issue you encountered, but same idea! (For future aquariums!) I also have an aquarium with a curved front glass, so you could say it’s a fancy stylized aquarium, though the frame you made really hides it well.

    I tried asking about using resin for a fish tank but the guy in the craft store seemed uncertain about it. Are there other things we could use as ‘water’?

  • @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws
    @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I missed this but it is the Addams fish tank and nobody in the family looks quite normal either, which gives you lots of lattitude for how the piranah look! You did make actual piranah too while I am thinking on how I can suspend water decal fish in UV resin...maybe if I apply them to some clear packing material and cut them out?

    Out of the blue, a tip: creating the piranha, just as the adam's family characteristics & physical features are exaggerated, i feel its jaw should have been highly emphasized like in a hannah-barbara cartoon, grinning eagerly for its next meal.

    I love it! I feel like if you did do it again you could have a support bar or lid, partially open so you can pour more resin, across the top for support. I wonder if that would keep it from warping? I also feel like it's the perfect house for a slightly imperfect tank!

    If you do another, you can put the fish on a plastic sheet, cover with resin then peel off to stand the fish in. Then you don't have to hold it, he will be on like a card of clear resin, easy to stand up

    Good experiment, I learned a lot about resin. Brilliant save on the aquarium, the finished project looks wonderful! I wonder, if you had framed the top of the aquarium with the wood from the beginning ... would it have kept the walls from warping? I am watching this in May 2020, by the way. I suffer from asthma, so have never tried to work with it, so it was fun to vicariously play with you. :)
    I have friends who have a large piranha aquarium (their piranhas are big) and they feed them chicken. They fed them while we were visiting, so if you do another one of these tanks you could make the piranhas larger and have drumsticks, thighs, or a raw chicken next to the aquarium. Just thought I would share the little I know about these fish from the Amazon.

    If you print the image of size you want you can dome it with the U-verse resin till desired effect. Same with plants etc be sure to add an anchor so that you can be sure they stay upright. I usually attach to a plant or rock. Uv is tooooo expensive for a project like this epoxy resin in layers is a better choice, also no heat. Also that little light is not giving a full cure you need a 36 watt or a day in the sun

    Hi Ara, So sorry I missed the livestream, I was so looking forward to it & then I got muddled up with the days; I got used to being a full day ahead of you guys when you do a nighttime stream & my brain just didn't cope with your stream changing to daytime & also on a different day LOL. I was too tired & stupid to just count the hours it had moved! ha ha. Now I know I'm going to regret typing this while still watching, but you know piranhas are a small fish, but a HUGE small fish, right? 20-35cm - so, even bigger than that ruler in front of you (8"-15" in the ancient Imperial language the rest of the world stopped using over 50yrs ago). That fish tank is going to get cosy :)

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I was sad to move the day because so many people had gotten used to Wednesday but Tuesday is what worked for my new schedule :/ I hope you can make it to the next one! Yeah... I didn't really do my research on piranhas. I just googled a picture for reference and asked those in the live stream their size and went with it ;) Also I think my tank is too small as well. I made it small on purpose to make sure I had enough resin to fill it up!! I didn't even consider the size of the fish going in. Luckily the Addamses only have 2 piranhas!
