    After reading some of the comments, I feel like it is time for a teachable moment. This video is a critique of the political movement by white evangelicals to ensure far right policies under the guise of faith. It is not a "f*** Christianity" video. I am not an Angry TH-cam Atheist™, and this comments section is not a place for your "Christians are a cancer" or "Protestants can go to hell" replies. Do you not understand that criticism of the actions of a political movement is not the same as calling religion "evil" or someone the "Antichrist"? If you tried to get a comment like that through, I assure you that it was deleted in my "Held for Review" folder. Nobody saw it but me, and I was appalled. All comments on my channel are always held for review until I click Approve. I also assure you that if it was egregious enough, your account has been shadow banned.
    This is not a space that will engender hate. Too many TH-camrs just let the worst of the worst in their comments sections and among their audiences without saying anything or doing anything about it. If you are posting comments like that, I can only assume that you must be new here. Not in my house. I am stupefied by this response. Do you honestly believe that calling for the genocide of Christians because they voted for Trump is even remotely appropriate? Absolutely ghoulish.
    Don't reply to this defending that kind of behavior or any "To be FAIR..." malarkey or you will see your account banned too. Your comments will be invisible to everyone but yourself. Try harder, please. Thank you.

      To whoever tried to reply to this with something like "I must speak the truth in a TH-cam comments section..." followed by a long reply, I deleted it in my Held for Review folder before reading the rest, which means nobody else read it either. This isn't a comment that requires input or debate. These are the rules. That's it. I don't care what you were trying to say. Just don't do...that. Thanks.

I've given up commenting because I will make a polite rational comment only to without fail be attacked by malicious trolls. Good for you for screening comments and filtering out some of the hatred and stupidity BRAVO!!! • @mellakat80
      @mellakat80 5 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      In the name of God and God's will are not the same. Even by Christian standards, trump is NOT a Christian. I live in Alabama. I am a Christian. I've witnessed the corruption of the faith firsthand by religious leaders. They DO NOT represent the whole of those whom are of the faith. Many in the south and many evangelicals use religion as a crutch and twist it to their own narrative. Religion is not corrupt itself. It's people in the religion that are corrupt. Zealots and xenophobes. I've seen these people upfront make excuses for this tyrant wannabe while condemning others whom they unjustly have sworn committed the same atrocities he has actually done. It's basically a tale of two churches.

    • @artheaux666
      @artheaux666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +63

      @@mellakat80 This isn't a "minority doesn't represent the majority" issue. The fact that there is this loophole for evangelicals is the issue. That you are an outstanding citizen with high morals, than someone without it, and that any unlawful act against God can be washed away without consequence. How can anyone respect something so flimsy, yet held with high regard?
      We've seen it, regardless of status, people use religion as a 'get-out-of-jail' free card. And when the country is run by these hypocrites, their "sins" are immediately forgiven with little backlash. Frankly, if your religion can be so easily paraded to forgive all sins and even elect certain leaders who do not qualify for the position, we need to get rid of swearing on the bible and standing for our flag "under God". There just needs to be a separation of politics and religion.

    Religion has always been political. It's the oldest known method for attaining and mantaining power, i.e. the oldest known form of politics.
    That said, some forms of politics are violence. Nazism is not to be tolerated. Doesn't Evangelism count as a form of violence too? Their very premise is forcing their religion to other people. It's not a slippery slope to say the next reasonable step to "forcing religion into the state" is violence on those not compliant.

In the American South Christianity is inextricably linked to conservatism and nationalism. To vote Democrat/independent even once is enough to have your Christian faith questioned in most southern churches. It’s been difficult these past few years to deal with the cognitive dissonance of people I used to respect. On the other hand though, it’s somewhat nice to have the mask ripped off so clearly.

    Jesus never insisted that his followers pledge allegiance to the state.
    He himself did not pledge allegiance to the state.
    He viewed both Church and State as fundamentally flawed institutions.
    His program was one of direct action.
    He required his followers to do what needs to be done to be of help.
    That is what Jesus was about and it is the basis of the Kingdom of God community he made his gospel resonate with.
    Evangelicalism has let go of the hand of Jesus and is now holding hands with Uncle Sam.
    It is a dangerous situation for the world to find itself in and it is difficult to see how any good can come from that relationship.

In books by Tom Horn (a Christian conspiracy theorist), genetic engineering is vilified as "Luciferian Science" and a means to making soulless hybrid bodies that demons can then inhabit as Nephilim, the Flood's purpose was to wipe out these hybrids so humanity could remain pure-blooded, and now the Illuminati are plotting to turn humans into nephilim and usher in the end times. This is spelled out most clearly in his book Apollyon Rising 2012, which shows itself to be the fearmongering of a neo-luddite.

As horrible as some of the crimes committed by “true believers” have been, I think it’s even more terrible to see how political opportunists have used people’s beliefs to further their own agendas. Please do make that video. Explain evangelicals "thirst" for Israel. I need to be better educated on this.
    Thanks

    _"Is it racism... ... or is it racism?" LOL!!! Funny, but I think you're way off base. The real truth is that it's racism.

    This now comes off as an historical documentary instead of the current affairs report it initially was.

    Many people who call themselves Evangelical upon investigation have either a very shallow understanding of the Gospel or have a compartment where they practice their faith on Sunday morning and then forget about it for the rest of the week.

    And more recently Trump had clergy tear gassed so he could take a photo op outside of a church that according to said clergy he's been to all of twice, one of those times being that photo op.

    as someone who grew up in a fairly agnostic/secular household (we didn't really go to church, only went to a Buddhist temple every so often but I was too young to understand any significance and my parents didn't force me and my siblings to "shut up and listen"), learning about the absolutely insane parts of Christianity is such a trip

    He is thier orange Jesus but he does everything opposite of what Jesus taught. He tells people what they want to hear. They then think what he wants them to think.

    I’m just now seeing this but it is helpful. I’m heartbroken by the continued support of Trump by people I love. I am trained as an Art Therapist and lean heavily toward Jungian depth psychology. I see the QAnon thing and the cultist level of support by Evangelicals - and other conspiracy theorists -as a form of collective psychosis. It’s like the immense shifts in collective consciousness - possibly accelerated by the stress and isolation many currently feel - are bringing out that archetype of the apocalypse. With so many looking for, expecting, and even wanting chaos, it feels more like an inner problem that’s becoming an outer reality. Like Mark Taylor... taking what should have been interpreted symbolically and his own nightmares literally. I will check out your other content. I feel my only recourse is to really get a better understanding of what’s driving what looks like collective madness to me. I grew up in the Evangelical world, by the way. Most of my extended family and many old friends are caught up in this. It’s hard to even know what to do.
