It's just awesome to watch a detective who is an older woman with intelligence wit and strength instead of the usual 30 year olds who are all "beautiful" to American audiences. I adore Vera and I adore the actress and applaude the producers for engaging older female actors in these kind of serious shows. Keep up the great work. As a Canadian, I love all things British!! what a lovely woman. I am now addicted to watching all of the shows. one of the things I like is that there are at least 8 suspects at the beginning of the show then the guilty party is usually not the one suspected during the show. great writing and acting, love it.
She is such an outstanding actress, so brilliant and so amazing. Her character Vera is the most amazing show I know about and it is such a class of acting. She is so sweet and lovely, and she should have an Emmy for this to put next to her Oscar! Love her, always.

I absolutely love DI Vera Stanhope! She is so amazing and it is so refreshing to watch a crime drama that is not full of so many distracting characters and you can actually enjoy the solving of the crime and all the characters involved.
Love the character of Vera and Brenda Blethyn plays her so well. And she might look like a bag lady, but she has beautiful peaches and cream skin and lovely hair (thanks to Ms Blethyn). And she does the accent so well.
Yes, there are so many intimations that she's not attractive. I find her quite attractive, actually. I love her face. And her "boring" hair I like too.
I discovered Vera during 2020 and I just so enjoy watching the show. I don't always understand the talking because of the accent but that doesn't stop me. Thank you for such a wonderful show.

I think she is great can't get enough of the programs, only found out today she came from Ramsgate Kent where I lived in 1948 and went to school there, lived in Queen St just up the road from where she lived, I hope the program goes on for a long time as I really enjoy it. I watch it all the time and I now live in NSW Australia.

It's strange....I'm from the US, have never been to the UK, but this show and a few of the other recent great (also regionally filmed) detective dramas, leave me with an affinity for different areas just from watching the filming of the landscape and how the land becomes part of the stories.
