Cuz see, I'm a brother commenting from far off Bangladesh and I'm getting married inshaAllah ("inshaAllah" meaning only if God permits and wills it) on this coming Wednesday. During our ceremony, my wife wanted to make an entrance - a typical "walk-down-the-aisle-with-her-father-who-would-hand-her-over-to-me" type entrance - and since my wife and me both love this Christina Perri song, she wanted it to do it while this track plays in the background. However, I was struggling a bit with this internally - since in our faith (Islam) it's recommended that we stay away from musical instruments - and I didnt want to play the original song (which obviously has musical instruments) at my wedding; call me old fashioned, i basically didnt want to start off my new life with something that MAY displease Allah. Need God to be happy with me. And so didnt want to risk it :)
However, I didnt want to disappoint my wife either, who admittedly isnt someone who asks for a lot; but she had this one fantasy so i was desperately looking for a workaround. And then i found your video. And it is beautifully put together piece of work bro. Respect. Really.
You probably can not relate to my predicament / internal faith struggle that i was going through; but I really wanted to know that I am really, really grateful that I found your your cover version (using only male vocals - something which IS permitted in Islam). I really believe Allah wanted me to find this video so that I could use the audio from your beautiful version instead of the original for my wife's entrance. Now I can be much more at peace internally while at the same time me and my wife can have our moment too. All possible because you made this version - Thanks so much Mike!
PS: Bet you didnt know when you made the video that you would be helping a bro out in far off Bangladesh, and your song was gonna be the bridal entrance music for a Muslim wedding. :) Funny how the world works. All praise is to Allah :)

Thank you so much! I really enjoyed making this and will be releasing something big pretty soon. :) Took quite a bit of time to record and arrange. Probably 50-60 hours.

Mike Hilliker I am trying to write an a capella version of this song of my own for my anniversary with my girlfriend. I am a part of a traditional barbershop quartet and we also have an alto and a soprano to help us. any advice you can give about rewriting this song to fit our group, also did you write this yourself?
I wrote this arrangement myself. I wanted it to be almost orchestral in nature so I'd probably approach this tune very differently if arranging for a traditional barbershop quartet. Having a couple of girls in your group could really help with this tune using some of those higher soaring obbligato lines. I would make sure that you really coordinate your breathing because the song requires a lot of sustained notes and textures. Hope that helps a little! :)
