I literally can’t thank you enough I’ve been watching videos STRESSING cause I see people with these AMAZING resumes but they never explain how to get them or the process so thank you❤
Thanks!! I'm a big believer in showing passion in what you do over just doing a lot of stuff really good. It really adds authenticity to your application.
Yes this is soooo helpful. I was literally panicking as I have to apply by the end of this year but this calmed me down a bit. I have a lot of academic awards but barely any in the other sections so I was quite worried. Thank you so much ❤
My awards list is the most lackluster part of my application. You give me hope knowing I don’t have to have international competition awards to have a chance. Thanks.
from what I hear, on the common app’s extracurricular list there is a section where you should mention accomplishments/recognition. Should you mention an award there (ex. being the first to win X award for school) and then list the same X award on the Honors section? Or should you avoid repetition? My awards section is lacking as well, so thank you so much for your insights :)
in your scenario it seems to be more beneficial for you to put your awards and recognition in the awards/honors section and leave the extracurricular description to your roll in the activity. if you believe the awards/recognition you have to be more substantive than just listing what you achieved then put it in the extracurricular section.
Thanks for the info. Also, how did you get the PSAT award in 12th grade? I thought you could only qualify in 11th grade. And how did you prep for it + general advice?
great video! kind of a random question: when do most students take their PSATs? Im going to be a sophmore this year and I was wondering when I should take it, how do I take it, and when should I start studying for it? thank you
usually your school does all the registration and stuff and you take it early in your junior year. For me i took it in october of my junior year. Also thank you!!
Is it ok if I got one B in AP French and finished with a 3.97/4 UW GPA. also I haven't done too many ec's and I am going into my junior year. I am working at a lab this summer doing research at a university. I am also going to run for leadership opportunities in clubs and join NHS for senior year as well as math and science honors societies in junior year. Is this enough or do I need more?
it depends on a lot more factors but everything your doing seems to be on the right track. dont worry about that B your gpa is still very high. Lab research is awesome. see if you can get on some publication. entering your junior year id def focus on the SAT, if you havent already gotten it out of the way. That'd defintitely help you get a qualifying score on the PSAT which you take early in junior year. Maybe prepare for some sort of competition based extracurricular activity (like isef based on the research your doing). Other than that just jeep doing what youve been doing.

I think I got like the official certificate at my graduation but I knew I qualified since the qualifying score cutoffs came out in late 2023.
