Ashley and Pasha thank you for the most amazing entertaining quickstep ever and you both deserve to make the final and win showing the grace, class and delight in entertaining us you are going down in history as one of the best dancers and most magical couple partnerships ever on strictly come dancing . I know how the show works they placed Ashley and Pasha and everyone on the leader-board in the same place two weeks in a row to bring about the results if they would have not overscored certain people and and under scored Ashley and Pasha they would not have been in the dance off.
This is THE MOST complicated Quickstep I've seen on a celebrity dance show. This was PRO LEVEL choreography. And the fact that she came THAT CLOSE to executing it perfect speaks loud words. Who gives squat about experience now? This was absolutely AMAZING! No contestant left comes anywhere close to this complexity. Were there problems? Yes, as there was THE SLIGHTEST amount of gapping, and here right arm was a little tense. But honestly, this deserved a perfect score. And Shirley saying there was too much content??? What? I don't even know what's happing with the judging panel right now. For the standard of this show, this was brilliant. 10!
I’m watching this video because not because i care about the dancing but because im watching every single cover of this song and thinking how no cover will ever be as good as Rachel or Barbara
This was so, so good and packed full of content and flair from start to finish. Lots of lovely little details you only catch in multiple re-watches too. Definitely one of my fave quicksteps of recent years.
Why is Ashley being critiqued on the choreography? This really annoys me. Surely that’s the fault of the professional dancer, or whoever came up with the song choice/routine?! She can only do her best with whatever she’s given and I thought she smashed it. Bravo Ashley! 🙌🏻
if the judges don't like the choreography it's the celeb that often gets the criticism, which might make the pro take n board due to them usually getting marked lower. It's not just Ashley.
It's not just about ashley half of the hard work is the pro that is teaching them the technique and coming up with good choreography to suit the celeb so even tho it's not ashley fault but there judging both of them
Also, she is not properly straightening her arm; she is locking it into place. So they could mark her down for that. As for the criticism on the song choice, the celeb should be able to rise up to it, so they get the criticism not the pro. I think the judges were making the point that there was too much choreo rather than the speed of the music; and that she could have done better.
@@stephanie-vs7ee No, she is quite correct, there are slow counts in the Quickstep (slow, slow, quick, quick, slow etc). Going hell for leather round the floor is very demanding and takes skill to execute the correct footwork and remember the choreography, however a routine needs light and shade to stop it being one dimensional. And I must also disagree with you re-Pasha, sorry. It's his choreography! He has obviously played to her strengths, she is more than capable of complex choreo and she has the stamina for it and the showmanship (show-womanship?!) to sell the routine, but it is all at one speed and if you start big and fast, it leaves you with nowhere to build up to. That said, I enjoyed it!
@@stephanie-vs7ee I am, yes. Thirty years of competitive experience followed by a professional qualification. Ashley is having a tough time in the press because of her dance background but I don't mind that - it is in a different discipline. But it does mean that she should be pushed by her pro partner to dance to a high technical standard and this is why the judges pick her up on things like her too straight right arm, whilst letting bigger issues slide with less experienced celebrities. The routine was indeed a showstopper, and I enjoyed the routine for what it was. I am just saying that if Pasha had given her a 'standard' Quickstep (one you might see on the circuit today) she would shine even brighter.
Wow! Despite the usual strictly singers striking again to ruin a gorgeous song I did love the song choice, the concept, Pasha's choreography and the speed. To be honest I feel alot of people in their comments are making a bit much of the couple of seconds of arm tension in hold and the momentary gapping. They were about as cursory and minute as you can get in the way of mistakes and there have been 40 dances which had small mistakes or moments of awkwardness in them. I am sure of danced again this would get the full 40. Loved it. The best of the night and one of the best choreographed QSs and dances ever on the show. 9.
The singers have to have such an extreme range to be able to master all of the songs handed to them that it's unfair of us to expect her to belt this song with the power of Barbara (a complete queen)
They didn't do a great job, but you have to remember that they have to chop up the song to make it the right length, so some cuts sound a bit unnatural. Also, they have to stick to a very strict tempo for the dancers, so it won't sound as free as if they played with the tempo more naturally.
You know, I have to watch this routine twice back to back. It was SO complicated, I am a little overwhelmed. I think it’s one of the most advanced QS I have ever seen on Strictly. Cor, how did she manage to do THAT in a week (five days to be precise)?! HOWEVER, I think this gold-level (in its difficulty) routine might have ironically caused Ashley a little. There was one point I actually see they literally came unstuck at the hips (I think it was during the running promenade). I also noticed her leading arm was very tensed (didn’t see that tensed arms in her ballroom routine for several weeks now but this time it’s there again). This could have easily be a ten dance, but with two obvious (rookie) imperfections, I feel I can’t give her that score, alas. 9.5
True. I remember her tense arm during her tango routine a long time ago. I also noticed her hip action at 1:09, roughly. Nevertheless, a stunning performance, as usual.
Agree she did manage so much content BUT as Shirley said there was too much content and the saying less is more really applies to this, less manic and it would have been a 10 easily, but as it was the speed caused slight gapping or body contact too much to one side and the straightening of her arm so 8.5/9 for me
I don't think I've ever seen such a complex QS on Strictly. I think Pasha was over-compensating for last week, which was the wrong reaction. Most of it was absolutely stunning but, like you say, there were some errors (I was worried about them when I saw their rehearsals on ITT, and I believe it started out even more complicated than they ended up with). I really hope they get through -we are nitpicking at Ashley because she's so good. On anyone else, this routine would have been unachievable.
Shirley didn't need to comment about the choreography-that was odd. I thought the routine was incredible. I watched her footwork the second time and I don't know how she did it. For her to keep coming out every week and producing this level of excellence in the face of unremitting snark from the usual moaners among the British public, does her enormous credit in my book. It probably wasn't her best dance technically, but it was the one I connected with most emotionally, and was also most entertained by.
They do the same thing on DWTS and it drives me nuts: There is no way the celebrity should get a penalty for whether or not the judges like the choreography. I personally liked it - a highlight of the night.
It was such an intricate routine, and yet she pulled it off brilliantly. Wonderful acting of the dance, good frame, amazing travelling across the dance floor. She didn't miss a beat nor a step in the hard and fast routine and yet it was all magnificent - smooth and light on her feet. My only two critiques will be that her head position could have been better and the fact that they broke hold (twice) during the dance. That aside, it was probably the most full-packed quickstep I've ever seen (maybe with the exception of Harry Judd's one). Not perfect but so impressive. An 8.
Don't get why people are now suddenly hating on her cause she has dance background. If ya gonna hate on her then hate on Faye also cause ya know she was in a band that DANCED, you lot all annoy me be fair to others
@Mark Craig I agree - Steps routines were not especially challenging. But she also trained for about 18 years in a dance/drama school where she got quite a bit of experience and expertise in theatre style dancing. Hence why her Halloween routine was so good
The moment when all your school friends from 4 years old disregarded your feelings and exclude you from meeting up! Even though you extended a peace offering!
Im sorry but WHAT THE HELL did you do to this song?!?! Its like 10 times too fast and non of the long, good notes are there, and all the iconic bits are sped up. You can barely understand what the singer is singing and i honestly feel bad for her.
if the judges were allowed to choose the winner of strictly 2018 instead of relying on public vote, i'm sure ashley would've won strictly. but the public is prejudice due to the fact she's american and not a brit. she definitely has been an amazing dancer since week one!
I thought it looked like she was being dragged through the whole routine. I know the guy is meant to lead but it looked like she was being straight up dragged
Heidi Blades Can guarantee she will be. Public hates her. I don’t even think it’s solely down to the “experience” thing, I think many people, myself included just find her hugely unlikable and infuriatingly up herself
@@hollilindsey1373 She has only been in the dance off once or am I wrong? How can the public dislike her when they have voted her through every week except one?
It got frantic in the posture when they was in the ballroom frame (slight gapping). Granted I blamed it on the level of choreography that Pasha gave her this week. She also executed the moves slightly hard and didn't ease into the moves. However despite that, the execution in the QS content was great when she got into the moves. Her hold was great, as she never drop it. Its not a 10 for me this week but I will give it a 9!
Either Darcey shouldn't have mentioned the flaw she saw with Ashley's bent arm if she was going to give her a 10, or if she wanted to mention it, then she should've given her a 9. If she doesn't think it's perfection then she shouldn't score her perfection. Or if she thinks it's close enough to perfection, she shouldn't mention that it isn't perfect. It's all rather inconsistent marking.
She had to bring it down to 10 because they hadn't given her an 11 panel to use. Craig has said before that the dances will never be perfect on Strictly, it's simply impossible to achieve technical perfection in a matter of days. They have to use their judgement and decide whether this is the best standard you are going to get. In Ashley's case, you are not going to get much better a dance than that...so screw a slightly stiff arm. She wasn't top of the leaderboard anyway, so people can get their knickers untwisted.
It was alright I suppose. I love this song it’s beautiful. Ashley just looks professional which is kinda true with her experience. But this was great. Out of 10: 10 Out of 40: 38
Obviously Ashley and Faye are by far the best dancers in this competition, but like last year, as in the case of Debbie and Alexandra, these higher skilled dancers will not win. The marks, even the judges, are based on popularity.
Joe who won last year was a trained dancer and has done more West End dancing then Alexander and he lied and said he had no dance training but he was not a very good Ballroom and Latin dancer and the public gave the gold medal to someone who deserved a bronze one so that proves that you can be the best hip hop dancer in the world and fail at being able to dance Ballroom and Latin different skill. set like both swimming and Skying . Charles was a trained dancer actor stage school jazz training and break dancing he did not do very well at Ballroom and Latin and either did Danny .
Kristelle Kakavouri I find this really unfair to Ashley . She works her socks of every week delivering the best routines but she gets so much hate from the public because she had dance experience. She had dance experience but not in Latin and ballroom dances. Also the reason she took part in this show was because she knew that her (late) father would have flown alll the way from America just to,see her perform. She didn’t join it because she knew she had a bit of dance experience and she would win she joined because she loved her dad and wanted to make him proud. Cut the girl some slack and have some respect fr her . If u ask me she probably works as hard (maybe harder) than all the other dancers. Please let her dance this dance without receiving hate from the public.
I remember ember Judy Murray dancing to this so its cruel how Ashpey gets the same song as Judy poor Judy but on to the dance fantastic jette at the end, wonder hopscotch, great jumping pivots and as always she has style and grace one of the best Quickstep's ever on strictly *10/10* who cares about gapping
I don't think it's cruel that she got the same song as someone else... Regardless of who danced it first, I thoroughly enjoyed this!! Was a 10 from me too haha! (I don't know all the technicalities to be marking her down) she gave it everything!
A good routine. Only one thing spoiled the effect, and it had nothing to do with the dance. Who on earth decided to use a modern-style platform trolley?
completely agree! did she forget to add the R into the word paRade? its a beautiful song and i couldnt focus on the dancing because of how bad the singing was
Amy Whitewood tell me about it I love this song soo much and this is such a horrible cover that it actually ruins the whole routine for me as I can’t hear that version it would have been better if they asked lea Michelle to sing it for them
There was some gapping, I noticed her top line may have dropped briefly and I agree with Darcey's comment about her tense leading arm (why did she give a 10?). The dance lacked any slow parts and it was too much although that's more the choreography and not Ashley's fault. I fear she's going to be in the dance off once again given how much the public don't like her. 9 (would have been a 10 if the choreography was better and the mistakes weren't there)
The choreography was staggering and this is a quickstep there does not have to be any slow parts. Shirley just said that as it would have just been personally better for her if it had.
Aaron Wilkins I personally think it would have been nice. I didn't mean there had be but especially with a quickstep like this with so much content it would have made sense. Basic quickstep is slow slow quick quick slow and so should have some slow parts in my opinion
Such a hectic couple of days last October with Harriet in London. Firstly I saw Hugh Grant, an ex boyfriend from Notting hill at the tube station. Pashas supporting role came in the form of Bernadette Joan. I was thinking Barbara Streisand mode at the train station going home. Thanks lovely lady for being there for me 🙏🏻 having finished the course I went to an Italian restaurant. There was a strange person stairing lurking outside, and the kind waiter got me a cab to feel safe. On arriving back at the hotel the bar man looked familiar and I remember seeing him in Paris at Disney. Didn’t have a clue whatsoever who it was really????? He had a look of Russ tamblin??? The following day I saw my school friends were all meeting together. One of them was sending me photos of my ex boyfriend in Australia and bragging about being with him! I was feeling really upset and saddened as I thought she was a friend. But she was being mean. I was deeply hurting and deleted her from my life. I tried to extend an olive branch and offered to come over and explain the situation and offer healing, but I was completely ignored and felt very unwelcome and unwanted. I packed my bag and headed to the station- whilst waiting, I bumped into Jayne Torvill! Then got chatting on the train with Sonya a lovely lady who bought me a coffee- her son looked like my brother Andrew. After a busy week I headed straight over to the cocktail team building night with Karen. Phew 😅 too busy! Too fast paced meeting all these people in one week!
Not my favourite dance, WAY too much happening at once totally agree with Shirley on that one! Nothing against Ashley as a performer she’s great but this wasn’t her greatest
Ashley is a great Dancer I don`t think the singers ruined the song they sang to the pace of the dance as was choreographed and did a great job plus the singer isn't Barbara Streisand.
Am I the only one confused by Darcey's comment and mark on this? She said that Ashley's arm was a bit straight but then gave her a 10. If it isn't perfect, and you mention that in your comments, don't give Ashley a perfect score!
@@user-ul8kv6hu7n I'm personally of the opinion that 10 is perfection- Darcey didn't believe it was perfect, and therefore she shouldn't have given it a 10 even if there was only minor errors
Love Don’t Rain On My Parade. Have to agree Hayley totally butchered this version!😡Not like her at all must have been having an off day. Ashley and Pasha’s Quickstep was fab made up for the awful version of a classic song from a classic film. Note to Hayley Barbra Streisand can only do this song any justice. 👍🏻😎
tbh even if she tripped up she would have won against charles in the dance off, no question about it. it's so unfair that people with absolutely NO dance background AT ALL like Joe, Stacey and Lauren, are up against people WHO HAVE like Ashley and Faye.
Kristen-Elaine Harris There's always been pro dancer celebs on Strictly. The only reason why you and hundreds of girls are in such an outrage is because of Joe. I mean, even the seasons after Joe, there weren't nearly as many angry teenage girls. People were only angry because of Joe.
wait why are you here? shouldn’t you be on dancing with the stars??? you are american after all and dancing with the stars is the american equivalent right?
@@temidawodu Ashley would've probably never been in the dance off on Dancing With the Stars though and would've easily won like her band mate Nicole Scherzinger. Maybe she thought it was going to be a similar result here, but SCD works differently to DWTS when it comes to votes because the British public think differently. But do celebrities sometimes take part in more than one series of DWTS? I have a vague recollection someone did that. If so, Ashley can always go on that instead and use both her professional training and her SCD experience now to win that one. The public there might not mind.

Craig - 9
Darcey - 10
Shirley - 9
Bruno - 10
Total - 38

Ashley and Charles were in the dance off
*-Charles-** was eliminated*
Kristelle Kakavouri how do you know that ??
The strictly spoilers
Ashley should have been kicked off
Kristelle Kakavouri
I find this really unfair to Ashley .
Just scored 40 for an American Smooth (with a Rolls Royce?). 8th December 2018.
Its a dance show ... its all about the dancing and if is not technically perfect it doesn't deserve a ten
@@avas2578 But Pasha was gapping to
I don't think it's cruel that she got the same song as someone else... Regardless of who danced it first, I thoroughly enjoyed this!! Was a 10 from me too haha! (I don't know all the technicalities to be marking her down) she gave it everything!
@@AyeshaShaSha I was saying it was cruel because Judy Murray is a much worse dancer than than Ashley
@@pennyandfishy7241 hahaha oh! 😂😂
I literally have no problem with the dance but the singer sounded so rushed 😂
A good routine. Only one thing spoiled the effect, and it had nothing to do with the dance. Who on earth decided to use a modern-style platform trolley?
This dance was so fast I kept thinking she had tripped up or went wrong...
Pasha remind me of Aldo from Blackpool.

1000 subs without a video challenge oof what were the scores
@@yuvarnianaicker9902
Craig: 9
Darcey: 10
Shirley: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 38.
@@yuvarnianaicker9902 deserved a 10 from shirley in my opinion
Gonzalo Pérez thank you!
1000 subs without a video challenge agreed!
what was their score?
They should get four 10s
38 (9,10,9,10)
the band butchered this song big time
completely agree! did she forget to add the R into the word paRade? its a beautiful song and i couldnt focus on the dancing because of how bad the singing was
There didn't need to be vocals on this really.
Amy Whitewood tell me about it I love this song soo much and this is such a horrible cover that it actually ruins the whole routine for me as I can’t hear that version it would have been better if they asked lea Michelle to sing it for them
They always do but this version is completely appalling especially the vocals.
Time to goooo!!
how about nooo.
...To the semi finalsssssss!!
Those illegal lifts tho
MegsyMoo That would be the fault of Pasha, not Ashley though. Ashley has nothing to do with the choreography or costume.
Ashley is a great Dancer I don`t think the singers ruined the song they sang to the pace of the dance as was choreographed and did a great job plus the singer isn't Barbara Streisand.
This woman is talented and beautiful yet people will vote for Joe Sugg or Lauren Steadman whom are average. Just a complete disgrace.
What was her score
9, 10, 9, 10
How did this get two tens??
trying way to hard to impress people. Lifts aren’t supposed to be in quick steps
Yes there can if it is part of a Charleston/Jazz break which this one had
Amy Whitewood you can have lifts in theme weeks.
Brilliant job as always.... But I wouldn't expect anything less from a pro dancer to be honest. If she WASNT amazing I would be totally shocked.
nawal🏧
Am I the only one confused by Darcey's comment and mark on this? She said that Ashley's arm was a bit straight but then gave her a 10. If it isn't perfect, and you mention that in your comments, don't give Ashley a perfect score!
bcuz its very very minor and can easily be fixed.
@@user-ul8kv6hu7n I'm personally of the opinion that 10 is perfection- Darcey didn't believe it was perfect, and therefore she shouldn't have given it a 10 even if there was only minor errors
swiftblaze27 Darcey still thought it was 10 worthy but nothing is ever truly perfect so she was giving her a minor thing to work on
swiftblaze27 perfection hmm Joe and Stacey dont show perfection and get 10s so what
Perfection is impossible.
really really good dancing but bad singing sorry
tbh even if she tripped up she would have won against charles in the dance off, no question about it. it's so unfair that people with absolutely NO dance background AT ALL like Joe, Stacey and Lauren, are up against people WHO HAVE like Ashley and Faye.
Kristen-Elaine Harris There's always been pro dancer celebs on Strictly. The only reason why you and hundreds of girls are in such an outrage is because of Joe. I mean, even the seasons after Joe, there weren't nearly as many angry teenage girls. People were only angry because of Joe.
joes was the most entertaining
I found it was quite out of sync.
Having Ashley Roberts on Strictly Come Dancing is like having Bear Grylls on I'm a celebrity get me out of here......
wait why are you here? shouldn’t you be on dancing with the stars??? you are american after all and dancing with the stars is the american equivalent right?
@@temidawodu Ashley would've probably never been in the dance off on Dancing With the Stars though and would've easily won like her band mate Nicole Scherzinger. Maybe she thought it was going to be a similar result here, but SCD works differently to DWTS when it comes to votes because the British public think differently. But do celebrities sometimes take part in more than one series of DWTS? I have a vague recollection someone did that. If so, Ashley can always go on that instead and use both her professional training and her SCD experience now to win that one. The public there might not mind.
Temi Dawodu oh ok
Strong Bear true
what's being American got to do with anything, we've had Americans on before and British people have competed on DWTS. It's really not an issue.
Tidybitz sorry i didn’t mean to sound offensive i just thought she lived in america so i was wondering why she didn’t go on DWTS
Cant stand her again...
Oksks Pepe and I can’t stand you as well
Which says a hell of a lot more about you than it does her.
Why? Because she’s actually good?
Oksks Pepe then why are you on her vid bore off
Jealous?
Joanne is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better.
LabYT No, they're not, lol.
Sorry don’t like her so false and a professional dancer and l can see why the public don’t vote for her and who is she and she looks so confident and others deserve to win they were none dancers
I so agree with u
really really good dancing but bad singing sorry
