Welcome back Prickly. Yep there's a fair bit of negative talk around DCS, but you know what, it's a great sim with awesome fully modelled aircraft. I think the vast silent majority is really enjoying the game and is just getting on and playing it. All that said, it's no bad thing to see complaints. We all want to see continues improvement in DCS and the fact people take the time to post something, event a complaint, means they care about it.
When hasn’t there been negative talk around DCS? One word of advice : for those who don’t like it, just do something else and let us, who enjoy do our stuff.
Also, the negativity is not always justified. A lot of the players behave like spoiled kids. My unpopular opinion is that the game is improving significantly with every update. Specifically AI.
I agree to all points. And the BMS community need to take their medication and touch some grass. Maybe go kiss a girl but it's hard walking up the basement stairs with no muscle mass.
Happy too see the tornado progress, really promising module. i was worried at the launch of the chinook too, some people even left the discord because they claimed it was "so bad' but i'm happy to see it's quite good, understanding of coarse that it is early access and will be improved overtime. like most things in DCS.
The Ch-47F Chinook is a beast, and the map updates are glfantastic. fantastic news to hear bout the tornado as I can not wait to see it in DCS. Thanks for the round up.
Welcome back. Agree the immediate issues seem to be primarily "trying to eat the elephant". Given that there are a lot of big changes to the base program going on, and a lot of features trying to be added, it should be no surprise that things are getting bugged. As users, we will do best by finding the bugs and reporting them, and allowing ED time to get them straightened out. They DO seem to be trying to do this. Great video as always. Hope you feel better soon!
Good to see ya back! I hope you time off was great! The pictures you shared it looked nice! Great video! I noticed China got to Giza as well as Southern Israel!! Their spy balloons are everywhere!! 😂 Great video update. Thanks for making it.
Well, good morning. It's so nice to have our Sunday morning coffee together. I say this with amazement and confusion. See, I'm a 53 year old business owner who is very set in my ways. I don't usually waste money on things I can't hold in my hand. Then, I found DCS in 2021. Because of this journey, I found something else new. A voice of reason on the internet. Every Sunday morning, I sit on my back porch with a cup of coffee and watch the sun rise over my property. Then I watch your video before the wife gets up.
I am happy to see this, we need it in game. Not usre the size of the team working on it but I will boldly predict this showing up in late 2026. Let's wait and see
i live in germany and a tornado recently buzzed my home at very low altitude and the wings swept all the way back meaning fast. Super loud and super cool😁 I also once got the chance to sit in one on static display and talk to some pilots and maintainers wich was an amazing experience
OMG we’re getting a Tornado, supposed to be a real pig to fly, according to some RAF pilot TH-cam videos. 😮 I’m also looking forward to the Euro Fighter. It would be really cool to get an F-111
Im looking forward to this Tornado. Im suprised its took this long for someone to bring it. Its an Icon. Id love to see a Jaguar jet also but i cant see that ever happening.
there's actually a lot of documentation and info on the Jaguar... not entirely impossible to get it done, perhaps it will be a freeware/community project
I think it is funny that they say "That only DCS can provide" the 47F flies very close to the one in MSFS20. I have them both and like them both but, they are getting a little haughty with that claim. haha
The difference between DCS and MSFS is that there's no global physics system that simulates flight dynamics, rather all calculations are programmed from scratch for each aircraft. This makes the process of FM development harder, but allows you to simulate any unusual quirks that a global model, like the one in MSFS, would omit, and wouldn't allow emulating without some major jank. Chinook afaik has a lot of those, but I don't think in the current state of the module any of those are really simulated. I'd wait a few months before judgement, and would also do any tests with DAFCS off, as it's designed to dampen a lot of those effects (which it doesn't properly deal with in DCS yet if you go outside of the envelope)
Not a single supersonic aircraft in MSFS2020 is REMOTELY like a decent simulation of the real thing. It is fine for low speed, light weight aircraft. But it's simulation quality is extremely low for most other aircraft types. Especially rotorcraft it's about as bad as ARMA III helicopters. Possibly worse.
Does anyone actually know for sure what the details are on the Razbam vs ED battle? I’ve heard a couple of different versions. That Razbam was refusing to finish/update their modules but also I’ve heard that ED wasn’t paying what Razbam was owed.
Razbam stopped updating F-15E BECAUSE ED stopped paying them for 1 year. And it wasn't just about F-15E, it's for all Razbam modules. On top of that, ED stopped communicating sales figures to Razbam. So they don't even know how much modules they are selling and they don't get any money. ED put out some unsupported and unspecified IP violation against Razbam. Meanwhile, we learned that ED also didn't pay Heatblur for 18 months after F-14 Tomcat release. These are 2 highly popular modules which sold pretty well. So ED has a strange way to handle successful 3rd party module releases...
@@JoJo-vm8vk So ED is operating very poorly and unprofessionally….that’s the way it seems based on your comment. Which sucks because I want them to succeed. But if they are just a corrupt company then what can we do….
@@johnselden9257 This is likely from Razbam's discord. which is full of misinformation. heatblur have commented that ED are not the "bad guys". best to not look at this situation as "eagle dynamics are a corrupt evil company that just wants money" otherwise we will not see 3rd party devs still choose to make stuff for DCS, when it is much easier to make it for MSFS because there is little quality control there.
While the Hook's externals are exquisite, its overall quality isn't much greater than the Viper's was during its controversial launch. We only have a single functioning VHF FM radio, the force trim functions for about 5 seconds before the nose wanders off somewhere, the damage model absorbs GBU-12 hits with just the rotor blades coming off, the 3D model/textures are so taxing it causes horrendous stuttering in missions. It should have been left in the oven quite a bit longer. At this point I'm just hoping it will see a development pace similar to the Apache's rather than ending up abandoned like the Supercarrier.
@@ImpendingJoker I would be curious to hear just how slow progress must be before you would consider a product "abandoned". In four years, they have managed to add.... a room. I'm not even going to count the "but you can tell the ship what direction to go" or "turn the lights on or off" features, as those are features that already existed in Combined Arms *and* which modders had long since figured out how to script. So, in four years, ED have managed to have a 3d artist make a single room for the ship interior. That's about it. They haven't even added light wands to the aircraft directors for night ops yet. They manage to find the time to add *skeletons* with light wands for a halloween event no one asked for, but they somehow haven't managed to add light wands. Last I checked, there were still major issues with AI being unable to use the parking spots, which prevents any AI from being launched unless spawned on the cats. "Deck parking for 14" was an early-access feature, and even *THAT* isn't working yet. The catapults are currently broken, and aircraft frequently cannot hook up for launch at all, which fundamentally breaks the entire module. There still isn't a briefing room (how hard can that possibly be to implement?) "Abandoned", or at least "extremely neglected" and "borderline fraudulent" are pretty good descriptions of ED's handling of the Supercarrier module.
I am expecting that the holdups and delays will compound to impact the release of the F6 Hellcat and Marianas 1944 release, maybe until mid 2025. I was hoping to have these by this coming Christmas. But I am philosophical, as it is much better to release something that works, with a delay, rather than trying to cope with a lot of problems.
@@Sumi_S the developers published a list of weapons they're looking to have produced, I can't recall specifics but it's available on their discord channel
Having all those 90's fighters and bombers is nice, but when the Hornet and Viper boys cry because they have no JDAM and AMRAAM C it get's annoying. It was pretty silly to include all those modern weapons in a 90's era plane setup, and it clearly stretches the modules developement immensly. I also would have loved to have the Apache A and a really good A-10A! Otherwise you need some Russian Jets and Choppers of Today to make it even - And that will never happen. Having a Tornado is nice but where is the Mig-23, Su-24, etc. You want a realistic semi modern russian fighter? The Mig-21 is our only option till now. While the US Jets and Choppers fly around with ordinance they would have dreamt to have in high numbers even in Afghanistan. And that in a time where Russian Fighters drop 3000KG glide bombs and hypersonics on daily bases. Not to mention only having Air Defenses from the 60's to the 90's while the western side has NASAM's! From 1998 and in the version we have from 2010! All this makes no sense to me except fighting against Arab Countries. At least China became a little boost, but still lot's of modern systems missing. Currenthill is providing some good stuff but as long as it is a MOD it won't change the missions on big servers.
