Good advice. I was nominated for the GIC on my first ALS course, attending the 1 day e-ALS. At the time I was newly promoted to Band 6 Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department. Spoke with one of the lads on the Resus Team, stated I was interested. He advised me to attend the next ALS session on which he was part of the Faculty and really pushed me through. Passed my GIC, and have my first IC teaching session tomorrow. The best advice I can give is really learn the course content and relax. The more calm and collected you appear, the more likely you are to be nominated for your GIC, if that's what you want to do.
That is brilliant, I am so glad that you got onto the faculty! I have often found the most helpful thing is to say 'I am interested....' as otherwise it is very easy to be overlooked. Well done again.
Interesting question. Which aspect are you talking about? 111 to Primary Care? Primary Care to urgent admission? Out of hours? For a lot of them, communication is key and so being on different computer systems is an unnecessary hurdle, though understandably very difficult to resolve.
The course is about 3 days (maybe 2 - sorry it has been a while!), where you will be expected to give a lecture and CASSIM from the course you have been IP’d in. It is excellent as it allows you to go through dealing with difficult candidates, marking and using the equipment. I really enjoyed it. Very best of luck

Great tips 👌
Glad you think so!
Thank you for this Dr Hindmarsh. How do you feel about the current interface between primary and urgent care?

Just been IPd just wondering about how the instructor course is?
