Am I the only one who was waiting to see and hear how the shoes are actually made, instead of who they're made for? No? Just me?....okay.

I was reading a book that said is you are strong enough Pointe shoes don't hurt at all. I laughed and put a sticky note over that paragraph and said "lies". Pointe takes a lot of hard work. Even though you may have really strong feet and are ready for it, it will hurt, not that much, but it will

    The shoemakers are artisans too.

Hi Royal Opera House. I think it'd be really wonderful if you invited the staff of Freed of London to a free ballet performance at Covent Garden to watch their craft come to life on the dancers! I'm sure they would very much appreciate it. Beautiful video <3

I love how they're still handmade even after all these years.

It's like Olivander's wand shop, but with ballet shoes...so intriguing.

Don’t try this at home until you’re 12.

That is so cool! I love the idea of the relationship between maker and dancer, one of trust, that develops even though a dancer may never meet the maker of her shoes. There's nothing else like it!

Pointe shoes are a huge part of a dancer's life, and the maker/dancer relationship is possibly the most important one in the field! What a fascinating look into a hidden aspect of ballet. It almost makes me miss being on pointe ... almost.

I would love to see more videos about how the shoes were made. That guy was clearly a master at his job, please make another video!

That’s amazing. I’ve been a figure skater for over 20 years and since I was 14 I’ve had custom made figure skates made to my exact foot modifications. The company who I always bought from sold their business and no longer makes figure skates. It’s not easy trusting anyone else with specific requests and requirements.

this is so cool! can you imagine having shoes made specifically for your feet? that must be as close to pointe shoe heaven as you can get.
