    I always wondered how this was done. I inherited my great grandmother 's bead loom which is 150 years old made of walnut. I also have all of her antique glass beads and jet beads. Now I'll have to try doing this! Thanks

    I have a loom but couldn't understand how to use it. The lady who demonstrated & explained this process did an EXCELLENT job. She was knowledgeable, precise & had a very pleasant speaking voice. She gave several tips on looming that only someone who is proficient in the art could give. Thank you for this video.

    I finally understand how to add thread and what to do with the old thread. Every video I ever watched just made the adding and getting rid of the old thread more difficult and complicated. I now understand the craft so much more with this video than any other video I’ve seen! Every bracelet until the bracelet I’m making now has had thread come out where I added new thread. Thank you so much!❤❤❤

    If you are using the loom provided with the kit, I would strongly recommend anchoring the loom to your work surface. I used duct tape across the bottom the loom. It holds the loom firmly in place and allows you to work much faster without the loom moving around. It is especially helpful when putting on the first row, which can be tricky if you’re a beginner.

      As another suggestion, I used a post it note to keep my place on the pattern. Something that can be easily moved and reused as you work. If you have to leave, you can quickly pick up where you left off.

    This is an old craft made new for another generation. It is easier and also strengthening your work by using two needle and thread strands, working from both of the edges in a figure eight, one needle and thread going below as she shows and the other needle and thread passing through the beads about the loom threads. Done properly with two needle and thread strands your work will last for decades. On a side note it is also easier to replace/break a bead if needed.

      With this method rings to belts can be made, you are only limited by your loom size/choice and your imagination . Enjoy!

    Thanks for the tip of tying off the in-work thread on the warp thread. Never thought of that. I have a tip for you for trying off the cut threads at the end. Thread each one on your needle and tie off the same as mid-work!!! Eleminates hand knotting, glueing, and trimming close to the knot. Cheers!

    I've been a beader for a long time, many years ago I tried loom beading, and got very confused and gave up after multiple tries, you made it look so simple i think I'll be making a purchase to try this again, I've given away my looms to my grandchildren, so I like also the convenience of flat storage of this type of loom.

    Beading tip: To smooth out the curly beading thread, wrap a couple coils from one end of thread around a glass or mug of hot water or beverage. Pull the wrapped beading thread from end to end against the hot glass or mug, till all the thread curls have been ironed out. It's so much easier to do beadwork with smooth thread than fighting the curly thread, which constantly keeps knotting up.👍🏼😊

    Your instructions are great except for two things. I was told to remove the metal rod after the warp is strung. And when doing a row, you first put your needle under the warps, pick up your beads, holding them in place then go through the beads above the warp. This is much easier than putting the needle in from the side opposite your working hand. I guess it's however you are originally taught.

    This was an excellent DIY video! Very well explained by this lady, great detail and camera work, and pleasant voice I could listen to all day. This finally solved the mystery of how these lovely bracelets are made. I want to start making mine too. I liked your loom very much, simple and one piece. I wonder if you have any magnetic findings for these bracelets. The clasps are too frustrating to put on and off. I like speed. It would be great to have a magnetic ending you can just slap on, with no fiddling.

    I had a similar look made by : Alleene's that was a light brown in color. It was the very first loom like this out on the market. I could do the loom work , but I never could figure out how to finish the ends off . NOW I KNOW HOW TO DO IT THANKS TO YOUR VIDEO !!!! I don't have that loom anymore , but I'll try to get one of your kits so that I can make my own bracelets now !!!!!! I want to make the very one that you made because I LOVE IT !!!!! The colors are so beautiful together and I LOVE the pattern !!!!! I'm going to have to wait a little while to be able to get it because I am on Disability Payments and I get only so much per month. I saved my money for almost a year so that I could get a new TV , and I just got it !!!!! I had to spend a little bit more money for it than I thought I would , so now I don't have any extra money to pay for a kit . I forgot to check out how much the kits are anyway. I need the loom too , so it will cost more than just the kit without the loom . If you can text me how much I'll have to save , then I'll be able to get one soon !!!!! Thanks !!!!!

    Those clasps are amazing!
    I bought a Klutz loom years ago, and I was always afraid to use too much thread, so I bought lots of it, and it seems a waste of thread, but t it's better to waste just a bit, and have a secure bracelet:)

  • @Cristal_Lugo
    @Cristal_Lugo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    OMG I'm so dumb I guess I missed the part where she strung her needle because when I got to twelve inches of thread I stop look at the video and she had half of the bracelet done where as I have 1/5th of the bracelet done... I doubled up my thread as if I was sewing. SMH 😂 I think it will be fine if I continue with the correct way now
    Edit: I ended up cutting all of the thread and starting over the right way because I wanted the side of the string to be even and it turned out beautiful! I finished it in about 6 hours 👌

    • @itschelseakay
      @itschelseakay 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cristal Lugo I did the same 😆 When she threads it, it looks like she double threads it, but obvious she must not because I had two tails for each row and then had to add more thread 3 times compared to her 1 time 😂 I was so confused until I read your comment and realized what I did.
