Maggie, I too turned 30 this month (February babies), and so much of what you said resonated with me. I also took a huge leap, moving not from one state to another, but moving from one country to another where I knew 0 people. There’s still a lot to learn and some failures/disappointment I feel I need to give myself grace over but I’m very happy with all I learned throughout these years. This was the video I felt you being the most personal on, and me not having siblings, I felt like talking to a sister (or better; “listening to”). Thank you for this!!!
Happy belated birthday! Thank you so much for the sweet words. It sounds like we've definitely been through some similar changes in our 20s, and I agree - there were a lot of disappointments and things that felt like failures in the moment - but I think there's always something you can take away from the awful times. Cheers to a new decade!
I’m in my 50s and really loved all the insight that you shared! Love your videos. My kids are in their 20s and hope that they are as wise as you! Happy birthday.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I have been talking about these very issues with my two daughters who are in their 20’s and now I can share this video with them from someone who is from their generation. Such wise and timely advice. I enjoy watching all of your videos and have actually purchased a few of your recommendations. I hope your 30th birthday is extra special 🎊
Thank you so much!! Sometimes lessons are best learned through experiences, I have to admit. When I was much younger I felt like I had most everything figured out (lol), but there were plenty of disappointments that did a great job of putting things to perspective and putting me in my place. I wish your daughters all the best! The 20s are a blast, but there is much to learn!
Loved this video, thanks for sharing with us!! You look so pretty as you walk into your 30’s, I can’t wait to see what a new decade brings for you & your family!!!
great advice all around, but the last point resonated the most with me. I’m 33 and still feeling like I can’t like things that other people don’t like. Thanks for reminding me that I can like whatever the heck I want!!
I’m getting ready to turn thirty as well, and I totally agree with you! I got emotional with you🥺 I’m excited for this next chapter of life and continuing to follow you as you move into it too❤️
I remember massive shoulder pads in dresses in the 80s, watch re-runs of Designing Women and The Golden Girls. And the (not so long ago) trend of women's clothing with the top of the shoulder cut out. Thankfully, I never thought of myself as a fashionista.
Great video, Maggie. I too have been going through the anxiety of feeling like my company is not valuing my work. I got up the courage to actually ASK for a raise. I got a tiny one, but still do not feel valued because I know we are hiring people in my same role at $20K more than I make. I need to listen over and over to your point about your job not defining your worth. A very valuable and timeless lesson, and you are fortunate to have learned it in your 20’s.
I totally understand the feeling. The exact same thing happened to me, and it's plain awful seeing other people have so much success with those conversations. Just know you're not alone and you and your worth are so much bigger than your job!
@Maggie this is why I love your channel so much. You are a very real, simple, and down to earth person. I love the jeggings and will continue to wear them. I personally don't follow trends either.
I love to wear what’s comfortable and I call it timeless. Probably not on trend but it fits, bound to come back around, and simple. I don’t think I’ve ever wore on trend stuff and don’t regret it. Jeans and a one color top and I’m good to go. I laugh that the 90s fashions are coming back. Didn’t like them then and really don’t like them now. Great advice. Happy early birthday.
My elementary school self loved the wild 90s trends -- never met a butterfly clip I didn't like! My adult self would love to see it all go by the wayside!
I turn 30 in November, and so this video definitely resonates with me. I definitely think saying yes is a huge thing. Being open to things has definitely done me really good. But something I wanted to add was learning to say no. I grew up in a culture where women are taught to people please in a way. So learning to say no sometimes is a big deal and sets that boundary. I think there is a different balance for everyone and I went from people-pleasing and saying yes to everything to saying no to everything then finding that balance for me. Also, I still wear skinny jeans. I fully think that as long as you do you and respect the other person, like what you you like.
Totally agree boundaries are necessary (and require lots of practice!) I hate letting people down, so it took a while to learn that saying "no" is okay, too! I just have to keep myself in check and assess if I'm saying no because it's for a valid reason or if I'm saying no because I'm being lazy. Sounds like you've struck a good balance :)
Happy almost birthday maggie! Lol loved ur video I feel like it was all very good advice and I really like the say yes thing I think I need to work on that lol
We were married when I was 18 and my husband was 21 - We will celebrate our 40th anniversary in May! Within our first year we moved across the country, had our first baby and moved to Europe! I finished college and earned a master's degree! We´re now retired and grandparents! Most importantly - we are still best friends.
I just turned 34 a couple of weeks ago and I agree with ALL of these life lessons from your 20s. Really good video and happy early birthday! 👏👏👏 Also, lol at the skinny jeans comment. I CANNOT get on board with this weird flare jinco pants trend. I love my skinny jeans 👵🏻
Wow, you are wise beyond your years. I am almost twice your age and you really reminded me of what's important in life! I enjoy your videos very much. Oh, and Happy Birthday !
I so resonate with you on the wedding front, because my husband and I also had to change our plans drastically, as a result of the pandemic; It was such a bittersweet time fraught with juxtaposed emotions 😅
Couldn't have said it any better! It was quite the ride, but I'm glad I can look back on it now and it not feel totally earth shattering like it did in the moment.
I'm still wearing skinny jeans too! lol I'm in my 50's. If I could tell my 20/30 yr old self, it would be, put the max in your retirement AFTER tax and do all the physical tings you can while you can.

I’m still rocking the skinny jean as well. Great advice to not feel bad for liking what you like. Loved the video!
Haha yes! "Cheugy" or not - here we are! Thank you so much!

YES YOU CAN! As long as no one is getting hurt, you just keep on keeping on!
Thank you so much for including work stress and it’s correlation with mental health and openly sharing that you use medication:)
You're quite welcome! Work stress is real - as much as I wish it didn't affect me as much as it does!
I’m getting ready to turn thirty as well, and I totally agree with you! I got emotional with you🥺 I’m excited for this next chapter of life and continuing to follow you as you move into it too❤️
Thank you so much!! So glad to have you as part of this little community!
