The one true horror in this movie is how nobody accidentally bumped into them in their suits and immediately find them out

Everyone would have been slightly confused, think they bumped into something else, or that it was their imagination, and went on with their lives. How many times have you "tripped on nothing" in your life, and we all laugh at you being a clutz? People would not have figured it out, and chalked it up to something else entirely.

The reason she assumes the "invisibility" idea so quickly is, because she knew how great he was in optics. She even states he was already working on an invisible suit at one point at well.
The thing optics is a broad term and does not necessarily means invisibility, it can be optics for a phone, camera, TV a lot of different stuff, if I told you I worked for a TV company in the optics field would you immediately assume I made myself invisible?
I figured she thought that because of optics and also because of the way the couch looked indented with no one appearing to sit there. Also the fact that the blanket was just gone when she woke up.

@@SuperZero1215 well if he was a superintendent in a school , she would not just say he works in the education field , she would say he was a superintendent. The movie just had a lot of plotholes and that's all, defending it will not make then go away. Rather accept its imperfections.
@@alexsabillon1478 you're right, there were plot holes. That wasn't one though. Also no one said the movie was perfect. If you missed that he was that brilliant, you should rewatch. Also read the news article that talks about what he was working on before he "died".
Regarding the super-strength: Didn’t the opening scene reveal that Adrian is strong enough to punch out a car window bareknuckled? (Then again, that itself might be a sin...)
UGNAvalon it is possible to punch out a car window. In fact it probably doesn't take quite as much force as you might think. That being said he should have broken his hand and had severe cuts on it. Side windows aren't made from the same glass as the windshield
@@blufox9000 idk much (or anything really) about cars, but i once saw a video of a black belt wearing hand wraps trying to break a car window with his hand and couldnt manage to even after like 10 tries, so Id say breaking it in one punch still qualifies as wtf levels of strength

This movie's biggest mistake was revealing that there actually was an invisible man/suit in the trailers.
I mean, it's an Invisible Man movie. If someone isn't invisible, it's kind of false advertising. So that's not much of a reveal.

I agree that they shouldn't have revealed the suit in the trailer. I feel like they should have tried to make the trailers look more like a paranormal/psychological horror.

Honestly I completely forgot about that and before they revealed that in the movie I started doubting Cecilia's claims lol
One thing this movie did well was showing the fear and control that Adrian had over Cecelia's life. You actually feel like you're her. Even when she's "alone" you feel Adrian's presence too because he was that controlling. For those two hours, you feel him in your life like she felt him in hers and that is terrifying.

@@Solmaz_S gahhh i was in a relationship like that (familial, though, not romantic) and years after i stopped living with them i was still badly affected by the things they did to me. abusive relationships are so controlling and horrifying and i would never wish that on anyone.
@@alimunnaharsetu9415 It depends on the type of abuser. Many abusers are classified as different types depending on their behavior. They typically aren't obsessed with their victim but more with the control they have over that victim. This is why Adrian goes off the deep end when Cecilia leaves him, he's out of control, and to get it back he has to break her psyche.
The thing about the scenes where they moved the camera focus away from Cecelia is that they’re meant to make the viewer think something is gonna move. It’s a cliche that you’re expecting something to move or you know something will happen because you think “oh the invisible man is there” but nothing ends up moving and you’re on to the next scene and i feel like _that_ makes the movie more eerie.
in other words: it subverts expectations.
I believe those scenes were to let the audience know he's definitely there in the room and the fact that we think something will move helps build tension

The movie sucks. It treats the viewer like they are stupid. It is full of tropes. The main character (Elizabeth Moss) is a HORRIBLE actor (she overacts EVERYTHING), the invisible man's breath ruins the suspense, the shootout at the police station is ridiculous. So many plot holes. And the buildup in the beginning in which the chick pulls the bottle of drugs out from under the bed just to look at it, then look at the glass, then swish it around.... Jesus, soooo juvenile. The only redeeming quality of this movie is the cinematography. This will definitely be in the Walmart $5 for 2 bin if it isn't already.

Syd's reaction to the slap is realistic though. If you get slapped like that out of nowhere, you're definitely in shock and afraid, and you would NOT be like: "Hm, was that actually Cecilia? I'm not sure she was that close to me."
First thing I would think is, “DEMON!” like everyone else who experiences something that’s not rational. If someone’s five feet away from me sitting on the ground and I get punched, I’d be terrified that there’s something else in the room.
WHY IS THE DOG STILL THERE!? WHY IS HIS EQUIPMENT STILL THERE?! Cops and government would've taken that crap.

Or, alternatively, his estate went to his next of kin, which happens to also be his lawyer. That's probably why he faked his death at a hotel, so the cops had no reason to go snooping around the house.
She let the dog go when she left and it ran off. Adrian or his brother were probably there when it came back to the house. The cops wouldn't have known where the dog was and probably thought the house was empty.

I just wish there was one scene where he grabs her arms and says, “Stop hitting yourself, Stop hitting yourself”
If this movie was made as more of a comedy, it would have.
Honestly, the way they portray Adrien, he is much more terrifying than any slasher, despite being only human.
The punch scene pissed me off. She was like 5 feet away in a half laying down position .

@@justadude2377 Also, that sort of attic has been in every house I've lived in, in the UK. In fact, I can only think of one person who had a pull down access attic that I've seen.
Might be a thing between attics you use for stuff (having a train set up there or something - as in the one person I knew who had one) or attics you use to just store crap in.
The attic in this house I'm in has a hatch like that *right next to a stairwell* - getting in there is....interesting.
I've lived on the west coast of the US my whole life and never once seen an attic with a string, stairs or retractable ladder... if I was CS, I probably would have sinned every attic that DOES. My current home's attic access is right above some steep ass stairs so I have no freaking clue how you're supposed to get up there.
Mine does too Jesse. Theres no string. U have to climb a ladder, lift the attic panel up, and then set it to the side. Then climb on in!

When she threw that white paint on him, that was the first moment in my life I screamed out loud while watching a movie.

@@robertbrookes2000 I dont think he did get it all off. I think the ex probably tried but he gave up and swapped spots with his brother to maintain the illusion. That explains the suddenly shift from creeping and hiding to violent and obvious.

Anyone else notice how in the end when Tom goes to attack Sydney she’s wearing a shirt with a jellyfish on it. Earlier when Tom was talking to Cecilia about keeping the baby, she referred to Tom as being nothing but “the jellyfish version of Adrian.” So her shirt basically foreshadows that he’s the invisible man. Small detail that I noticed second viewing

Emily was easily the worst character in the entire movie. She'd be the family member where you'd walk in, throw up on the floor, double over in pain, and start screaming for the hospital, and all she'd do is go "What's wrong with you?"

I think the reason that Adrian fought in the hospital hallway instead of running away was to set up Tom. When Cecilia damaged his suit , he probably figured it would be seen on camera. That's exactly why he let some witnesses live. It's very brilliant in hindsight.

There is only one thing that makes me feel both tom and Adrian were going after Cindy at the end of the film.
Cindy sprays one invisible man with pepper spray which makes him fall into the table. Then Cindy immediately runs out, but somehow there is another invisible man in the hall way waiting for Cindy.
I think so too, in 12:03 his eyes are all red and his face is redish which makes sense if he got peppersprayed however idk how he would be able to leave the house if the hallway is so thin and there is a fight going on there

Tbf, it's pretty damn quiet. I had headphones on during this movie, and I only saw the subtitles 70% of the time. I would go back and MAYBE hear a slight noise, that I didn't even think was the clicking.

Yeah, watching this on HBO Max where I just have the subtitles on by default, I never heard the clicking but it always popped up when he was near.
It could still work, especially if the person being targeted is doing work that can silence the clicking.
I'm so glad they've returned from straight up hating a movie back to actually pointing out plot holes and only partially hating it again. I really enjoyed this one.
If a they think a movie is good they will always point out what they liked about it and remove a sin. If they think a movie is bad they sin it to hell and back that is how they have always worked... You must be new here...

They only sin movies a lot when the movie is actually dogshit or has a dogshit plot. I think the hate stems from the commenters from some youtuber named birdman, who is an actual scumbag who profits from taking an entire Cinemasins video and sinning Jeremy and the video.

@@dismembered_body_limbs Lol you need to stop idolizing CS, because they are hardly that straight. While they sin movies for comedy and nitpicking, which is what most people enjoy them for, plenty of times they sinned the movie based on general consensus like they thought that it was garbage even when it wasn't. DC animated movies got the biggest flak, Megamind is also one example.
Often times its obvious in the like-dislike ratios, or use of the cliches that come off lazy and unfunny.

About the attic ladder issue: some attics aren't meant for storage, and are only supposed to be accessed by maintenance personnel. Mine, for example, is where the furnace is located, so I have quite a bit less storage space than I expected I'd have.
My attic is actually the exact same as the one in the movie, so it isn’t really a sin, unless im the one sinning?

Yeah, ours is just a nasty, dusty, hot crawlspace sort of thing. It only has a panel to get into it for maintenance or repairs. There's no stairs to pull down or anything like that, you definitely need a ladder to open it.
7:07 i watched the movie, and this was genuinely one of the best jumpscares ive ever seen tbh, it's one of the only ones that brought litteral terror to me

There were actually 4 suits, you can see them in the beginning when she’s escaping
The biggest sin of them all: Them revealing the entire movie in the trailers, literally nothing is left.

The original invisible man had his body turn invisible, so when she dumps the paint in the trailer and it hits him looking like a wire mesh mask face I couldn't tell if it was a bad effect or not. It didn't belong in the trailer.
That’s why I hate trailers/previews. They give everything away. I never watch them, especially if it’s a Horror movie I’m looking forward to

that's why he haunted her at night, but even then, the artificial lights would've cast a shadow. But then again, that would ruin the entire movie cos suspense is key to such movies.

I saw this jumpscare in the trailer, so I knew the jumpscare was coming. My mom, however, did NOT see the trailer, so when this jumpscare happened, I didn't get jumpscared by the jump scare, I got jumpscared by my moms getting jumpscare.

These "woman in peril" movies always seem to feature those fugly ultra modern glass mansions. "Enough" is another one with that kind of house.

i wouldn't call it a cliche, just a common dog name. it's always better to use a common dog name in a movie (for realism) unless the unusual name of the dog is important to the story/the dog is the main character. Zues is just as common a dog name as Lucy, Thor, Bella, Daisy, Cooper, Harley, Jake, etc
And just to reinforce what you're saying, how about "Zeus! Apollo! Kill!" from the original Magnum, P.I.
Even when I first saw this film and theaters I was like “geez, he’s invisible. Not a phantom. How the heck is he everywhere all the time and able to go undetected as much as he does?”
Yeah, his ability to travel without issue makes no sense. He’s not calling Uber, he’s not driving a car, he’s not jumping into random cars to get anywhere.

Yeah if the suit hadn't been revealed IN THE TRAILERS, his travel methods wouldn't have bugged me as much because for all I know, it could be a ghost.
That's absolutely true and very sinnable, but for some reason I didn't click on that watching it. Maybe because once he's invisible he seems supernatural and all-powerful, I don't know.
And something even bigger - Cecilia cut her wrist with the pen under the showen in the looney bin, but seconds later when security were draging her through the hall, there wasn't a single drop of blood on the floor or anywhere else. That is a massive sin you missed there!
biggest sin: ending makes no sense, if you break down the fact the ex supposedly knew everything about her and her movements. He should have known she hid the suit or one was missing.
I dont think the guy was home when she entered. So she had time to take the suit. Once he arrived and went to the basment is when she ran and hid the suit, somewhere he couldnt find it. Plus, he was still chasing the girl so im sure he was focused on that
why would he know that? she made it in the machine so it’s not like he knew it existed already, and he wasn’t at the house just yet when she made it

I agree the end makes no sense, I have no idea why she just left it in his house when she could’ve brought it on the police or even put it on. Don’t tell me she had time to shove it in some drawer but not to put it on
We're shown earlier in the movie that she has a secret place to hide stuff, she hides her go-bag in a place he didn't find before and because he was so focused on her he probably never think to look for it. Plus we're shown the brothers are both using the suits so he most likely had multiple copies for them to use and we're shown they can be damaged. I like to believe when he gets paint on him they swap and the brother comes in(because he is so violent without care, while the boyfriend is more of a creeper and likes to mentally destroy her) to throw her around while the ex goes home to change suits and clean the other. That's why a missing suit wouldn't draw much attention compared when she's in the house and investigating their invisible antics.
ethan Yep, what Big Blue said. I don’t know where you got the idea that the machine actually “made” another suit on the fly. The movie clearly showed that all she did was retrieve the suit she hid. There are only two suits in the movie as far as she is concerned.
The original comment is not asking that, but rather why such a obsessive person like Adrian didn’t suspect she had obtained/hid the suit somehow.

I'm a little dubious as to how, when she took the 'bathroom break' at the end, in that short time she managed to get to the walk in closet where she had stashed the other suit and then, considering the suit is obviously a close fitting 'rubbery' garment, (made to fit the intended wearer), get undressed (that dress would likely make putting on such a garment a real pain.) Then get into the ill fitting suit with ease, having never used it before, work out how it works properly, proceed to kill Adrian, then go back, get out of it, get back into her evening dress/heels. All in such a short space of time.
Heck, we even get a convenient timer on the security cam for the latter part of the kill. From the time she cuts his throat to the time she comes back into the room back in her normal attire, acting distressed, is literally about 1 minute. Her being able to get out of the suit and put it in the bag, get her clothes/heels back on, and walk back into the dining room in that time frame, very unlikely. And while doing all that, not have James listening in on the wire wonder what the heck all the ruffling sounds etc are while gets in and out of the suit. It didn't ruin the film for sure but well, just not believable.
I would like to state that while tony stark didn’t think of the invisible suit. The kid in iron man 3 did, it is called retro-reflective panels

I saw this in theaters, and it was legitimately great. There are some movies that manage to unite the audience into a collective, and when they can do that it takes the whole experience to the next level.
The random thing in the room that looks like a person, is the costume from the 1933 'The Invisible Man'. It was intentional. Remove a sin.

It's a joke because Tony already experimented with stealth tech, and Mk 15(Sneaky) and 16(Nightclub) were both stealth suits, and they show up in the final battle of Iron Man 3 for a few brief moments.

Not only was she able to control the knife in his right hand but she was able to keep his left hand firmly on the table so that he completely was unable to move. In that actual scenario any rational person would shift positions, try to stand up or use their opposing hand and arm to gain control. But the rest of his body remained totally still. He didn't yell or anything. In the restaurant scene when he made it appear like she sliced her sister's throat it was very quick and done in one swift motion. But when she makes it look like he slit his own throat there were clearly several seconds of struggle between them. I mean I liked the movie but c'mon.

My favorite thing about this movie is that Adrian's car alarm goes off when the dog caresses it with his ass but the one in front of the mental hospital doesn't go off when Cecelia fucking shoots out it's window 😂
The only time it was Tom was when Sydney and James were attacked in their house. Every other time it was Adrian. Cecelia damages Adrian's suit at the hospital but Tom's suit is working perfectly in the house until she shoots him.

Igor Junior watch the scene. She initially grabs both his arms, he struggles and then she over powers him and slits his throat while still “holding” his other arm, or he just doesn’t try to use it. And we see earlier in the movie he can easily over power her as he tosses her around the house and lifts her off the floor by holding her neck and one arm. So she shouldn’t be able to overpower him at all. It’s just a movie mistake. They should of made it look like she really just caught him off guard with a quick slice instead of him actually struggling and losing

Don’t even need to hack it, faking a sender is easy, and the sister doesn’t seem the IT type who can see in the headers what the actual sender‘s server was.
He didn't hack her email though, he send it from her account in her computer. That's how she was able to read what he send when she went back home

I mean, let's look at some other high tech suits in movie media. Black Panther has a suit that makes his footsteps damn near silent. If the guy in this movie had the technology to make a high tech stealth suit that makes him completely invisible, it might have some sort of feature that allows him to move around silently. Though...it is a stretch and in all honesty, he should be making more noise when he moves about.

The suit part is valid, but she wouldn’t need to be super accurate with where she aims the mace for it to work. It gets everywhere to the point that it can hurt the person spraying it, so you’re supposed to cover your eyes when you do.

Thanks for introducing this movie to me :) I started watching this video, paused it, and actually rented the movie to watch it before coming back here. The acting and suspense was phenomenal, and the plot was a stellar representation of how an abusive relationship can haunt you, and a survivor’s dream of finally putting that horror to rest.
I love that CinemaSins reviews popular movies and I love the honesty of calling sins out and removing them when well deserved!

The director sinned at least one thing that I can recall in the commentary for the movie. He said that the stuff in fire extinguishers doesn't actually stick to people like that.

At the beginning of the movie when she goes into the workshop to turn off the security cameras, you can see three suits. So maybe there were 3 suits not just two

Speaking as someone with horrible vision, I saw at least as many plot holes in this movie as CinemaSins did. Last two times I dealt with an intruder when home, I turned out the lights as I moved about. The familiar sounds change when people are around, head happens, there are ground vibrations, etc. People who have great vision who tend to be night-blind because they are addicted to super-bright light tend to ignore most things totally obvious outside of mere vision. When I am looking for someone hiding from me, I tend to close my eyes to "see" better. Don't take my word for it... try it. Your brain shifts sensory power to everything else immediately. Maybe I'm part of an oddball minority. Immersive 3D never ever had a VR effect on me. I can also relate to virtually blind people better than people of my vision or better. Most of my... personal issues... are more touch based.
My eyes work, just badly. So I can tell you that you sense your environment far better than a 1st person or 3rd person video game character. You WILL notice this "invisible man" and notice him a lot, so will everyone else, should he do what he did in the movie.
This movie has great sound design. Everything sounds like a jumpscare even though there’s nothing scary in sight

My biggest problem with this film, is that no one believes a genius optical engineer working on military research could design an invisibility suit, at all, not even a maybe its possible. Also how did she get off the murder of her sister?

Yeah but that‘s how our minds work. We‘d never even consider someone who‘s actually invisible is in the room. Our brains fill in the missing info (the gap in distance) and just assume Cecilia jumped forward or whatnot.
