Actually what really work is to change NO into a YES. It works wonders. For example, my daughter was jumping on the sofa and instead of saying „don’t jump” I said „Can you please sit on the sofa” and she did it! She listened. She got clear instructions what she needed to do.

Chore charts are so amazing! I love that you added the tip to start it earlier than you did. I recommend starting as soon as they can walk! The first chore is usually just helping mom put toys in a basket. It’s so great to teach them that chores are a part of life!

The way you describe “not saying just no” is very close to Montessori style parenting!🥰

Interesting, I did not know that was part of Montessori!

    Loved the video!
Giving an explanation when saying No has been amazing for us, too. I hear so many people asking How to get my kid to listen to me, when I tell them no? And many of them have just never tried to give an explanation why the kid shouldn't do or get something. Little kids are not robots that blindly follow instructions, they need to learn how the world around them works.
Also, yeah, absolutely no kids you tube or really anything that a kid can watch without being monitored. We do only Disney and with a kids profile the episodes don't even autoplay. That's the only acceptable option for me.
And just as a calming note: allegedly young kids who lie, have more creative brains, and it shouldn't be seen as a negative thing. Also, it's often hilarious and cute. 😄

I love these kind of videos you make b/c our daughters are 2 months apart!!
So it definitely helps me of what kind of things to try & activities to do with her 🥰
We haven’t done swim lessons either because 2 years ago, we got pregnant with our 2nd and the nausea was HORRIBLE that summer, last summer we were trying to get the hang out adjusting having multiple of kiddos. This summer we’re doing it!!
    I hope you’re doing okay 🙏🏽💖

We have sooooo many magnatiles in this house! I have an almost 4 year old. I think like a couple weeks younger than arrow, and a 2.5 year old and I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant with baby girl number 3. We love magnatiles and probably will use them for a very long time!

TH-cam kids you can go into settings and make it so they can’t search and you approve what they watch. My son is 2 and all he can see is Arthur, Blippi & Danny Go. Nothing else comes up and I check all the time.

I used to be a swim teacher for a bit before becoming a doula and I totally agree with getting them in the pool asap! I would say it’s not super important before one year old but once they are more mobile it’s such a great activity!

Completely removed kids TH-cam from all my tablets. I hated how my daughter became so engrossed and how it would affect her behavior. My daughter only does ABC mouse and educational games. No videos on the tablet anymore. Definitely have noticed a significant difference. We love the Picasso tiles!!

Try showing her CBEEBIES programmes as most of them are educational and slow paced like Jojo and Granma tells the story of an amazing relationship between a little 4 year old girl and her loving grandmother.

In our family we don’t do sticker charts, rewards for doing something, time outs, unspecific praise (we don’t say, “good job!” For example). These are all things that can cause a person to become motivated mostly by external things. And it transfers into adulthood. Check out Dr. Becky Kennedy. Wouldn’t it be good if our children saw us doing chores and enjoyed living in a clean house and they realized themselves they want to be part of that and do their share and cleaned up a bit on their own, or asked to help mom vacuum etc.? That’s what we are aiming for with our kids. It takes years to engrain these things. No quick fixes. Just a steady approach without punishment/reward tactics.

    • @youtubeacc
      @youtubeacc 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

As adults though we get rewarded for doing these things. We get rewarded at work with money, we get rewarded at home by having a clean space. Just because kids are given allowances and rewards for doing tasks we do every day, doesn’t mean they will grow up to not do those tasks. Also, there are house cleaners and laundry services these days so it honestly doesn’t even matter if they don’t want to do those things later in life.

We did the bottle fairy to switch from bottles to beakers and she was a bottle ADDICT - every day we coloured a picture of the bottle fairy for a week and then made a little video of the bottles ¨disappearing¨ and being replaced with a beaker and then went into the living area to find the beaker there. She has never asked for bottles since it was amazing.

i have a list of shows we allow, a lot of them are just episodes on youtube but we don’t allow our 2 year old the autonomy of picking them out herself. at this point screen time is only on the tv and she chooses the show, i choose the episode/how long she can watch for. on youtube there is miffy and friends (the old claymation one not the new animated one), little bear, elmo’s world, curious george. and then on other streaming services we also do little einsteins, bear in the big blue house, and a few disney princess movies

A few other shows I love are baby Einstein, toddworld, puffin rock, wonder pets, blues clues (with Steve and Joe) and Thomas and friends (not the newer animated one) some of these are only 10 min episodes so it's perfect just to put on after a meal while I clean up or when I'm clipping my daughters nails

The best way to cut the paci and the bottle is to do it before they turn 1. We got rid of our sons paci at 9 months and his bottle at 10 months and that was the perfect age. We switched him to a sippy cup for his milk and then got rid of that at 12 months.

We also ditched TH-cam kids. I was already aware of the weird things that can appear on there so I was SUPER vigilant & always supervising. But I just realised I don’t think there’s a whole lot of value or education in those vids. We use ABC kids which is the Australian equivalent of PBS kids.

best advice i got was to completely get rid of diapers and pull ups cold turkey and only use underwear. my kid quickly grew to feel really uncomfortable with accidents in the underwear, something about needing the sensory feedback of the wet and dirty fabric. eventually just stopped doing it altogether.
also some great advice i got from a friend was to make the kid clean it up themself when they have an accident. my two year old was horrified when i told them i wasn't going to clean up their poop if they had an accident and they would have to clean it. i swear it worked!

One great kids channel we’ve found is Kid Crew. It’s created by a family, they do mostly play with trucks/vehicles and there is something to be learned from every video. Also Ivan the Inspector is pretty good for actually learning something. But yea mostly kids TH-cam videos are complete trash and I’ve heard too much bad about the kids app to even try it😬

Same here with the No TH-cam! I used to let him watch some programmes but like you said, it then auto plays something random and not at all appropriate and the ads! Relentless, inappropriate and brain rot!
I stick to CBeebies now. They have some great kids content if you can get it over in America.

Re: Arrow wanting to sleep beside mom - she’s got great survival instincts and intuition. I would celebrate this❤. Biologically speaking, babies and children sleep next to mom for many many years. It’s only North America and a few other counties where everyone is trying to get their baby and children to sleep alone. Everyone else in the world keeps their children close at night or the whole family sleeps in one room together. This is how humans evolved to be.

You Tube Kids is gross. I just let my daughter watch regular You Tube, only on our TV, so I can fully see what she sees. She likes a show called Brain Candy TV. It's a dog teaching the alphabet and monster trucks jumping through numbers and shapes. Not all You Tube is bad. It's just how you use it
