As soon as I heard him say that on the Sabaton History piece on this song, my mind instantly screamed....You shall not pass in a poor Gandalf impersonation
Sabaton released a brand new song just couple of hours ago ("Father"). And it's good. The new song is unusual sounding in comparison to other Sabaton songs but it's really great.
Great song, great reaction. Some of my favourite Sabaton songs are "The last stand", "Great war", "Ghost in the trenches" and "Seven pillars of wisdom". But they really have too many great songs to choose from.
I'm so happy to see that your favourite part of this song is the same as mine. That bridge with the tempo change is so freaking perfect and it really shakes things up in the best of ways. And the lyrics hit you like a machine gun. It's both brilliant song writing and gives you a horrific taste of what like in those trenches were like. Also... knowing that J.R.R Tolkien was actually fighting in WWI gives a whole new meaning to Gandalf telling the Balrog: "You shall not pass!"
You should react to their song Warrior Soul. The story behind this, is remarkable one of the most important during WW2. It's about going behind enemy lines, staying months up in the mountains, freezing conditions, almost no food, waiting... and then blowing up a heavy water plant to stop the germans getting the atomic bomb.
Excellent song choice. Heavy but beautiful(especially with that Beethoven solo), and doesn't shy away from showing some pretty visceral moments of active warfare. It was my first music video of theirs, and I still wince when glasses-guy gets shot.

So enjoying watching you explore Sabaton. I have two suggestions on songs for you to move forward with. Screaming Eagles official musicvid(about the battle of the Bulge) with it's historical correct video and good lyrics. Then Angel's Calling ft Apocalyptica for epic composed music.
From this battle Tolkien was inspired with that line in lord of the rings, he was fighting himself at that time, but not at Verdun, but in the other grind meat of the ww1, at Somme, also about Sabaton, to me, I just love all of them and from time to time I just switch the melodies, I just feel other better, but with any other bands or singers, I just have a couple of them that I like and that's it, but with Sabaton is very different, I simply can't pick

Fun fact: The german name for the battle of verdun was "Unternehmen Gericht" or "Operation Judgment" which I still say takes the cake for coolest name
