  • Corotoman is the setting that Robert "King" Carter, the wealthiest man in early colonies, chose over all others to build his home in the early 18th century. Today it offers great private retreat encompassing over six acres with a 3-bedroom home offering spectacular views of the Rappahannock. Also, included are separate guest quarters and garage. Easements to protect sites of early foundations of Corotoman are in place.

Robert "King" Carter was my 7th great-grandfather + I have the entire family history back to the English monarchy. If any children or relatives of this line would like more information, don't hesitate to email me: rachellawrenceboden@fuller.edu. I've been working on multiple lines in my family for almost 20 years and am happy to share.

Rachel, I’m a professional genealogist and would be interested in some of your histories. My ancestors were neighbors of Robert “King” Carter in Lancaster Co., VA as well. I’m descended from Maj. Edward Dale and his wife Diana Skipwith, daughter of Sir Henry Skipwith, 1st Bt. of Prestwold, Leicestershire. I’m also descended from two other aristocrats who settled on the James River, William Farrar and Col. Thomas Ligon. I am related to the Randolph family which intermarried several times with the Carters, so there is a lot of connection within all these families. My email is sriggan@hotmail.com for contact purposes.

So are you related to Robert "King" Carter? I recently found out I am and do not find splice in the fact that 1 report shows he owned approximately 1,000 slaves. I'm looking for additional information.
