Here at Regional District of Nanaimo have been waiting 28 months for a building permit for a 1000sqft house. $45,000 in red tape still no end in sight. Just last month they nailed me another $4500 in permit fees. Yes we have a housing shortage and that is 100% due to government employees willful incompetence.
Let us place the blame squarely where it belongs: Area A Rep Jessica Stanley and Chairman Vanessa Craig.
And in the city of Nanaimo it is even worse with far leftist Krog as Mayor.
Our property taxes went up 32% last year, 22% the year before. Services all go down and taxes continue to go up.

The NRD isn't an arm of the federal government-it is provincial jurisdiction. Your problems with the NRD is not Trudope's fault.
Furthermore, we, as citizens of BC (I live in the CRD), have no say over who is appointed to the regional district boards in this province-typically, they're appointed by the mayors of the cities/municipalities within the regional district (usually from elected municipal councillors or the mayors themselves).

He would know then what he's forcing the rest of Canadians to live in when has only refusal to accept. Should we not refuse aswell when we aren't even demanding a lavish lifestyle that he does?

So glad they are covering this love you Justin Trudeau your a great prime minister I have the upmost respect for you and feel like you have done so many important things that needed to be done so that they would be finally dealt with maybe they can take the look of the new place in a couple of the rooms look like they are similar in design but are brand new like an electric fireplace not a normal one if so though it’s gotta be with all the newer innovations and I know that they might like it still for the fireside chats which are lovely but ya it’s like really so cold if it isn’t always being used but it’s like a bad thing if ur outta wood and it’s a big opening up to the freezing cold so either way its eco friendly just lots of work to do each day grabbing the wood pile and bringing it beside the fireplace to stack up to burn so it’s not cold gets to be a real sob but there’s benefits of a wooden fire place because of the fact it could be necessary once a backup generator is used up but ya I think electrical is best for the fact it’s not letting air in I don’t know if the older ones had the shutters but most likely though

The White House sits in the middle of down town DC on a 6-8 lane street. It is 200 yo house. Completely remoddled in late 1940's. Yearly updates & maintenance takes care of the rest. Paid, public tours are run daily. Jackie Kennedy set up comission for donations of historic furniture, dish ware, artifacts etc. Guide books are sold. The White House is at least partially self substaing.

As a Canadian myself, I'll say it... Canadians are cheap. This was a news story when Harper was PM, this was also a news story when Chretien was PM. This is the same problem that we have with our military ships, planes, tanks, and equipment. If it weren't for the point that's being made about the security concern, I would say tear down 24 Sussex and build another modest mansion in its place. Looks like they will need to relocate the residence altogether. It's an important government setting where the sitting Prime Minister is supposed to receive, have closed-door meetings, and entertain other world leaders. The business of Canada is to be conducted there. It should not be a glaring embarrassment to the nation. There should not be so much red tape to get this done. This slows down so many things with the government and wastes millions while ironically avoiding spending money that needs to be spent.

The Canadian PM should live in his own home. He gets a tax payer funded salary already. Why should we pay for his lifestyle? There should be buildings for hosting official Canadian functions but its shouldn't be a free for all for a PM to live up the lap of luxury off taxpayers. If you want to be the PM, then you have to move and buy a home in Ottawa. Justin Trudeau CURRENTLY spends over $100K in groceries a year for his family that he bills to the taxpayers. Go look it up. This is not for government functions, This is just for the PM as well as paid vacations (tax payer paid), travel (tax payer paid), and clothes (tax payer paid). This is not for government work.
