I am worried,
How Canadians will compete to others
Where their Brains nowadays only thinking on Food, Clothes, Water, and Affordability.
When we will expand our thinking outside of this boundaries and contribute to good productivity on science and businesses?
🙄 you're kidding right...like a king hunting for his newer larger castle while he tosses crumbs down to peasants. Absolute insanity in my opinion. Fix the damn house. He's got the money to do it not to mention pest control is a very real thing. Other civilians have to deal with, repair and remedy these issues how is he more important than us. Legitimately let the rest of Canadians send him pest control bills and renovation costs not the other way around WITAF
Let him live underground like the grub that he is, if he is so afraid of the Canadian people!!
So why didn’t the PM say something They are to blame for letting it go
CLOSE the Sussex drive and move the road away.
Don't move the historic residence of prime minister away.
Ah, first world problems. Having a extensive security detail not being enough, the taxpayers need to fork out YET AGAIN for the most useless politician in out country who is mostly to blame for the current economic mess we are in to "feel" safe.
Give Trudeau a tent - he seems to be okay with tents for Canadians.
And seriously CBC - read the room! The last thing Canadians care about is Trudeau’s next palace.
The real housing crisis Canadians care about good job CBC
Fix it, turn it to a museum, or sell it...just do something!
So glad they are covering this love you Justin Trudeau your a great prime minister I have the upmost respect for you and feel like you have done so many important things that needed to be done so that they would be finally dealt with maybe they can take the look of the new place in a couple of the rooms look like they are similar in design but are brand new like an electric fireplace not a normal one if so though it’s gotta be with all the newer innovations and I know that they might like it still for the fireside chats which are lovely but ya it’s like really so cold if it isn’t always being used but it’s like a bad thing if ur outta wood and it’s a big opening up to the freezing cold so either way its eco friendly just lots of work to do each day grabbing the wood pile and bringing it beside the fireplace to stack up to burn so it’s not cold gets to be a real sob but there’s benefits of a wooden fire place because of the fact it could be necessary once a backup generator is used up but ya I think electrical is best for the fact it’s not letting air in I don’t know if the older ones had the shutters but most likely though
4 million to reno, not a person who knows anything about construction. 4 million gets you a great NEW residence.
Put a Prime Minister in there that not everyone hates...
In a van down by the river.
24 Sussex is an embarrassment to Canadians.
PM official residence to be moved to either Sesame Street or Disney Land where Trudeau can join with other fir brain characters. Demolish the 24 Sussex and build an energy efficient home representing current technology available to upper middle class -- maybe inclusive of an elevator, ramps, and a charge port. Maybe give it a Château exterior.
Where will the PM live next? Let's hope in a jail cell.
Tear it down … temporarily move the GG somewhere while a new home is built and temporarily move the PM in RH
I guess if CBC is doing a piece on it, it must mean they’re finally going to spend the money to fix it
Send him AND the CBC permanently to outer space….FOREVER‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️…
it is a disgrace that the money that has poured into it to get this way .!!
How much have taxpayers paid to redo the cottage already? I heard 12 million.
Get rid of the GG and move him into that residence.
Let him live where he’s been living. Canadians can’t afford to buy him another house. We already paid for a mansion on a lake he had built.
hopefully it's as hard for him to find affordable housing it is for every other canadian.
It is not hard for him - he will take your last shirt of your shoulders to satisfy his wokeness, don't worry
If we want to rip down the REAL two teared system, than we must start at the top and the prime minister should live LIKE the common folk. the PM should get no special privileges over the common people.
Poor timing for him to think about this Canadian’s are suffering
no taxpayer agrees to more money being spent to protect our prime minister at this current time
Put him in jail
Why is 24 Sussex too close to the road?
Yeah let's put the PM in a tent in a park if its good for working canadian it should be good for any PM.
The (next) prime minister could just stay in his own home. He just lives an hour away from downtown Ottawa, presuming it's in his riding in Carleton.
So...for every other PM, this has been acceptable. (How this went on...I don't know). Now Trudeau wants a new house. How much is this going to cost us?
Doesn't the PM have 4 houses he currently rotates in?
Noce timing.. as we have a housing crisis.
So out of touch!
isnt this where he grew up as a kid with his dad? He lived there for years so why it is now an issue with the road and lake?
The Canadian PM should live in his own home. He gets a tax payer funded salary already. Why should we pay for his lifestyle? There should be buildings for hosting official Canadian functions but its shouldn't be a free for all for a PM to live up the lap of luxury off taxpayers. If you want to be the PM, then you have to move and buy a home in Ottawa. Justin Trudeau CURRENTLY spends over $100K in groceries a year for his family that he bills to the taxpayers. Go look it up. This is not for government functions, This is just for the PM as well as paid vacations (tax payer paid), travel (tax payer paid), and clothes (tax payer paid). This is not for government work.
As a Canadian myself, I'll say it... Canadians are cheap. This was a news story when Harper was PM, this was also a news story when Chretien was PM. This is the same problem that we have with our military ships, planes, tanks, and equipment. If it weren't for the point that's being made about the security concern, I would say tear down 24 Sussex and build another modest mansion in its place. Looks like they will need to relocate the residence altogether. It's an important government setting where the sitting Prime Minister is supposed to receive, have closed-door meetings, and entertain other world leaders. The business of Canada is to be conducted there. It should not be a glaring embarrassment to the nation. There should not be so much red tape to get this done. This slows down so many things with the government and wastes millions while ironically avoiding spending money that needs to be spent.
Abolish the GG and there you go, a residence for current and future PM’s.
