Nintendo GameCube is the only console that was the hosts for both Mario and Sonic mascots.
Sonic was supposed to be the mascot for the Dreamcast but they discontinued the console in 2001. And both SA1 + SA2 were both ported over to the Nintendo but not PS2 or Xbox.
All Mario games in Gamecube were the best ever since I was a child

The Original Super Mario Strikers is still the best mario sports game of all time, while I don't mind the other ones the original is the better game.
I remember the second one from when I was like 6. I always had to call my dad in to help me.

I played Mario sunshine for the first time ever today after years and years of wishing to play it and boy it is extremely overrated.
It's because people are moving away from Super Mario 64 for being overrated to the point that it becomes creepy for being so liminal.

That's so sad to hear, I haven't played it either and I had a gamecube when it was first released (and still have one). I'll stick with the New Super Mario Bros games instead I guess
Mario 64 is overrated. It’s only liked for nostalgia. Sunshine is underrated. People only hate it because of the glitches.
