From a 16 year paramedic, I’ve got two watches in my collection that I have used to save a patient’s life, both are Casio’s. One, the GW-9400, I used to check ambient temperature to help cool down and severe heat stroke patient, and the other, the Duro, I’ve used to time a sick patient’s pulse and breathing rate while I waited with one of my home health patients to get picked up by EMS. Both patients ended up surviving.
I’m with you on the gw9400! I think the mudman has a better display, but for $200 and having the mud resist buttons, the rangeman is hard to beat for having the same functions.
Just wanted to say thank you for your service!
Never needed any service myself (yet), but appreciated
Thats young for a paramedic....
The Breitling Emergency, sends out a gps signal so you can be found and rescued. There was an episode of "Top Gear" where Richard Hammond was marooned at the top of a mountain.
The Instinct Solar display can be switched to a positive. Its a display choice in settings. All the Instincts do the same
That sounds like a deal breaker.
Idk if my older one did that. If it did, I never found that setting. 🤔
@vincentferreira1135 it did. Lol
Hello! The 3 main watches I wear on patrol are the Rangeman, Mudmaster, and Breitling Superocean 44 when I’m feeling bougie!
Jory, thanks for sharing your perspective on these watches! My thoughts and concern reach out to you and all in the LA area that have been devastated by the fires and are still under the threat of fire.
Please stay safe, and let us know that your Mom and Dad are also safe.
The Garmin instinct series has the ability to do both Positive and Negative displays
Why does no one ever mention the protrek lineup
Seriously my prg 270 is underrated
I agree ☝🏻
Honourable mention - Victorinox Inox with Paracord survival strap
Up until 13:10, I was like "you can't use the word "sketchy" in a survival/tool watch related video without mentioning Breitling".
Love your videos, those few gray hairs portray wisdom
I owned the first gen of this and it’s a MIP display like the new G Shock fitness watches. It’s a really easy to read display.
hang in there Jory!!👍👍
Can't beat a Casio for tough. I've got the GPR B1000 and an old Pathfinder (PAG 50T). Both too big for EDC but I occasionally wear one if I'm trail riding in rough country. MY EDC is a Garmin Enduro 3. Maps are very handy. Flashlight for signaling. Crash alert mode (I've got that turned off. I crash a lot). I carry a ACR Resqlink + for real emergencies.
I’ve had the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Tactical for maybe 6 months. I use it for sleep stats and to track health metrics. Like it.
Dude, I accidentally rolled my car over my Garmin Fenix after forgetting I took it off get to a tricky to reach bolt and its fine. My G-Shock would probably be fine too but I suspect the Garmin is actually tougher. Also if you went to a Fenix you can customise the display if you don't like the negative readout.
As I understand to navigate with a watch you should orient yourself at sunrise or sunset meaning you first need to survive a day or a night and that umm yeah
Hey thanks for this video it was quite interesting. I hope everything is okay over there and you and your family are doing well, quick question I I have really bad eyesight and I cannot see well in low light I want to get a G-Shock like the mud Masters but I don't know which one will be good for someone like me so if you have any recommendations I would really appreciate it. Thank you and have a blessed day.
Rangeman GPR-B1000
Have it just to have it, but it would be the watch I take for survival.
Surprising how comfortable it is despite it being the largest Gshock ever.
I am going to choose strongly disagree on the casio twin sensor. I have owned it for 3 years and stopped calibrating the compass about 2 years ago. The compass completely loses calibration after about 2 or 3 weeks. I could hit the compass button, anf have the North arrow point at the 6 o'clock. Then I would turn the watch 180 degrees and have the compass point north at 6 o'clock, same for another 90 degree turn etc etc.
I think some of the high end Apple watches have the feature where you can request a rescue from the field.
I don't think any of the G-Shocks have that do they? Isn't the GPS more for sports features? (I'm not up to date on all the models they make since I'm very happy with my basic GBD-200)
But even if Apple watches were in my budget I REALLY don't like having to recharge my watch all the time. For me that's a deal breaker with most smart watches.
And really all I would want from it is the sleep tracking which means I can't recharge it at night. 😬
Plus there are phone apps that do sleep tracking without needing anything wearable.
I've been looking at the Garmin watch.
But, like you a GShock gets in the way.
I have the mudmaster gwg-b1000 with a all the essential sensors, compass. The russian military is disrupting and jamming the GPS signal, most of the time,so I don't rely on. Your watch doesn't save your life in emergency situations, you need other proper equipment and training.
I wear a 46mm Marathon all day including sleep…….only because I misplaced the smaller, lighter, brighter Marathon Navi
Nothing beats a Casio!
Nothing beats the Emergency here
@@sacragon Tell me about it.
Suunto core is my choice. But 1 year battery is killing me. May be you know any night operational watch with solar?
The 2x solar tactical and non tactical have a 42mm version and the non tactical version also supports MGRS (military digital reference) and has a red light instead of green. If u don’t need the night vision then your should be okay.
I would get a Garmin but the top one's are too big for me.
Glad your ok Bud
You love your maverick but I’m shocked you haven’t gone for like a vintage 4Runner or Landcruiser or even and FJ Cruiser
They are expensive
Hello, I tried sending emails but you don’t respond. I ordered a pair of Red Wings Moc Toe boots from your site over a month ago but I haven’t received any response or boot’s since
I’ll never understand G shock. The Garmin has a map….
It's also 10x the price...
It's also 10x the price...
Jory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3:46 that's what she said!
Hi Sammy 👋😅
