Bristol-Myers marketed Ipana from the 1920's through the 1960's. The 1957 "Bucky Beaver" commercials were considered such an "icon" from the '50s, the producers of the movie version of "Grease" used one to simulate someone watching TV from that era...
Bristol-Myers marketed Ipana toothpaste from the '20s through the '70s; in the mid-'50s, it was "pitched" to kids through "Bucky Beaver", voiced by Jimmie Dodd (who was also his deadly enemy, "Decay Germ"). The animation was produced by Walt Disney's studio, of course [Jimmie's "home base"], and the "Bucky" ads were often seen on "THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB". This is a 1957 installment...
David Arvedon played the part of Mr. Decay Germ in the Bucky Beaver commercials. The artwork used to depict Bucky Beaver and Mr. Decay Germ was a rendition of a painting produced by David Arvedon in 1939.
Ebay. It was an unopened tube from the late '50s. And no, it wasn't bad. In fact, it made my teeth brighter and cleaner than any other toothpaste I have ever used. Fresh, clean, and minty. I liked it.
I'm here because of '100 Years of Dental Care' which showed this for the 1950s segment and it also showed the 'Grease' clip of this in the 1970s segment.
I'm sure my sister Jane and I used Ipana toothpaste when we were little girls growing up in the nineteen-fiftys. I remember watching Bucky the beaver who did the commercial for Ipanna. Then I saw the commercial in Grease the movie. So watching this video brings back childhood memories for me. Thanks for sharing the video.
@fromthesidelines Heavens to Murgatroid--I remember this commecial as if it were yesterday. Yes, I saw this in 1957, and don't figure out my age, LOLOLOLOL.
Leanne Haddock. this was in the movie version. It was at the beginning of the slumber party scene. Before Rizzo, Jan, Marty, and Frenchy started to sing about Sandy.
Someone mentioned Ipana Toothpaste Bucky Beaver for one of the mascots who don't exist anymore and I just found this video to know what the person was talking about. I like him already!
I know about this commercial cuz my Dad wouldn't stop quoting it, when I was a kid. First time I'm ever actually seeing what the hell he was talking about...

Take off the rose-tinted shades and you’ll see that plenty of things were being “poisoned” as you say back then as well. Not trying to be a dick, that’s just how it is
Ok I had a funny dream where I was having a conversation with someone about what would happen if this commercial came out today. Knowing how things are nowadays we said "Tooth Decay would try to admit his love to Bucky Beaver!! 🙄🙄🙄" anyways I then woke up laughing....🤣
Looking for the Ipana comercial where a girl jumps into a kidney shaped pool. We get dozens of the same Bucky one but why not this one? It was filmed at the Shore Motel in 1963.
My local radio station brought me here when they used the brush em brush em slogan when they brought up todays weird facts. It was UK people don’t brush their teeth 40% of Brits still don't brush their teeth at least once a day. A third admit noticing discoloured teeth on others. A quarter admit they are concerned about the colour and health of their teeth.
HEY LOOK IT'S JAN!!!!!
Classic scene!!!
Leanne Haddock (throws pillows at you ;)
That's why I'm watching this!

I remember this reference in Grease but I've never seen the full original commercial by itself. Only took me 40+ years 😁
