Regarding land purchases. Check with the zoning laws where you’re buying. There may be plumbing, electric, square footage requirements, etc. that prohibit the parking of an RV on said property.
I must say that your honest is refreshing... I’m so glad that y’all finally got all the regrets corrected and have the rig of your dreams. Tom your nervous laugh cracks me up. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more from y’all. Stay safe!
Define "gently used"...we purchased our vehicle in 2017, it was a 2012 with only 26,000 miles. You can have issues on any RV. But, I agree with you that buying used saves a lot of money on the initial depreciation.
Always good information from you both and honestly it is so uplifting just listening to you and how positive you are on life. Stay safe, have fun and keep laughing!
Nice video! I don't know why I was here watching it because I don't have any plan to do RV'ing, let alone full-time. But this is like hearing from neighbors about their adventure stories, even though this episode happens to be about your RV living regrets, lol. In any case, best of luck with your future RV adventures!
Where are we going next? I'm so excited! Oh god it's 5 am in Miami, I have to go to sleep, I work tomorrow. Can you discuss the advantages and disadvantages of owning a 5th wheel, compared to a diesel motorhome like my uncles. Thanks guys. Safety concerns during camping would be a great topic if you haven't done a video on it already.
Hi Cheri, nice to have you back in frame. Another great video, Thanx. Tom, our house closes in 6 days and they should be building our 381M any day now... Hoping my new F-350 pulls it well. See ya on the road. "Fair winds and following seas"
Tom: "Maybe back then I don't know that there were Facebook groups..." Cheri: "Um.... I think there were." Tom: "Well I wasn't in any of them." Cheri: "Your ex was in them." LMAO, this *SENT* me :'))
Nice video, be cautious about buying land to put your RV on because some towns have laws against living in an RV even though it’s on land that you own.
Another great video! And a nice job on the haircut, too! Based in AZ we are members of another “club” but Now you have me curious about the Thousand Trails, especially for some of the higher end campgrounds. Thanks for the info.
My daughter and son in law just bought a month my condition vintage? RV. Well it's 25 years old. 32 ft with only 32 thousand miles. The old couple only used it to go to Georgia to see their grandkids. Their family moved up here to Michigan. The RV is beautiful. They paid less than 5 thousand dollars for it. I am now going to sell my house and buy one. Love your channel.
That’s what my brother in law did. He went to find the RV he wanted then figured out what truck he needed to pull the RV. He did a great job matching the truck and RV. Then checked to see what insurance he would need. He’s really a person who checks and double checks. But they still own their home so he had to make sure he had a place to store it at home when they are there cause they do want to have a place to come home to so since they have several acres he picked a place and built a good cover for it so it’s not sitting under trees and stuff to ruin it when it’s parked there. They have kids living on the property so they have a great place for their stuff. He’s really a through guy who checks things out carefully before plugging in. They even have come home late and just stayed in the RV cause he’s got a RV hookup at home. My brother in law has his inheritance to fall back on and he paid for his RV so no credit necessary. He is really wise with money. I really am happy for them cause he could retire early cause he had inheritance. I lost my husband and thought of going full time RV by myself. My brother in law talked me out of doing it alone. I’m retired and so now I’m glad I didn’t cause I think I would have been too vulnerable alone. I go with them now and then. I don’t have to worry about nothing but packing a bag and buying foid to go with us in the RV. I’ve had a great time with them. But I have lady friends who full time live in theur Rvs.
Sorry you guys had to go through that that Park but yes I am a subscribe member of your channel and changing lanes and k y d you guys all put out the best video content I like Chad and Taurus dog their dog is way cool
I want to just first thank you guys for all your help I am still learning all of this I am on my first trip with my southwind 34 footer. It's been exciting lol. And a pre-trip is a definite thing that everybody should do LOL even on an RV (X trucker) LOL)
Enjoyed the video, we all learned from our mistakes, then you own your mistakes, this is how we grow. Here's an inspiring quote about regret “Don't live your life regretting yesterday. Live your life so tomorrow you won't regret today.” - Catherine Pulsifer"
Thanks for all the pointers. I decided what I was going to buy before I started looking. It had to be bigger than a tent but smaller than a class C and have a toilet and shower. Also, something I can handle by myself. I already had the TV, Chevy Silverado, so I had to be able to tow with that. I settled on a 2018 (demo model) in 2019 Nucamp T@B 320 Sofitel, paid cash for it, and couldn't be happier. My goal is to get all my bills paid off by 2022 and retire. I just got a raise so, whoo hoo! Looking for a rural piece of property now, that I can park my trailer on while I'm building a tiny home.
Great info!! We are getting the process restarted since it was derailed in March, and has been adapted to keeping our house and renting it instead of selling everything. This way we have a place to come to if we have to.
I have full timer Geico insurance for my 2013 Nomad 27’ travel trailer for $502.16 per year. In 2019 I discovered my roof was compromised and ruined by water. I paid a $500 deductible and I have a new $5,210 roof.
very very good advice.. we will be full time this year .. we will have our truck and rv paid off in just a few months . so almost no debt . which was good advice from Tom and cheri
Land is cheap here in Central Mo, it's not as sexy as the mountains or the coast, but, in these times were way out here in the middle with good safe miles buffer from all the craziness around the country, hope yall find what your looking for happy and safe travels
Sorry if this question is a little off topic. I noticed in the video that you have what appears to be a Norcold 2118 refer. Our Montana is brand new, but we had an annoying alarm (beeping) from ours with an “dr” code, which caused me to push on the refer door to make it go away. Sometimes the alarm wouldn’t sound for hours, sometimes only 5 minutes. I have since learned that the “dr” code stands for door ajar. The refer was cooling nicely though. Any help from you or your subs would be greatly appreciated😊
Looking forward to your insurance episode. Any input is greatly appreciated. Getting back on the road in a couple weeks, and wanting to be sure we are covered for anything without breaking the bank!🤨 love your videos! You have way too much fun!!
Research is key to buying an RV,reviews can be deceiving you definitely want to read a lot. I think some people right bad ones no matter how small the problem is. Being mechanically inclined is a definite plus when it comes to RVING ! Great Job Guys,Love Your Videos !!!
I just subscribed, but we have been watching your videos for several months. My husband and I love you guys and your videos! Thank you for the entertainment and the great information! We are going full-time rving on August 15, 2020!
Learning experiences is a better term. As far as COVID-19 is concerned, most of us didn't know that this was going on and then boom, it happen. We have been busy living our lives. Safe travels.
I love your channel... I don't care what anyone says Tom you look just like Woody from Toy Story to me... That's probably why I enjoy watching all of your videos‼️😎‼️ Keep up the good work guys 🤠 👢 🤠
RE: Credit--that's exactly why I can't/don't want to hit the road until I can sell my house and PAY CASH for both the rig and a new truck. No debt on the road; no worries about my credit score. (Which, surprisingly, is pretty good, despite living only on social security.)...As of now, I have zero savings, because when your income is less than $2K/ month, there's nothing leftover to save. However, selling my house and buying a rig will leave enough leftover to have a very healthy savings account from day one. Yet another reason I want to unload the sticks and bricks--else I can't afford to do this lifestyle at all. I'm already retired...I was always aware of RVs, but never heard of this full-time lifestyle until almost 2 years ago...so I'm still in the research/learning/thinking curve...and at 72, I may or may not be able to ever do it. Before you buy any land, you might want to check out a video I just watched by Robin from Creativity RV. She was interviewing Steve Lethos of Lethos Law, and there are a lot of things to consider vis-a-vis zoning, building/housing codes, etc. that might impinge on your "right" to park on your own land for extended periods! th-cam.com/video/PBXcNSqHIZs/w-d-xo.html
so I wanted to ask.... for someone looking into going full time residential in an RV, even though I love grand designs the way you guys talk about them, with that being said do you have any pointers determining a 5th wheel like a Momentum or getting a Motor home of same size and that has the same Luxuries. Thanks
You guys are so cute and inspirational. And you're right about everything! COVID put a crimp in the plans but a deposit is down on an LTV and couldn't be happier. Considered Grand Design for a good while but watched so many mishaps on TH-cam - your's LOL! - with both trailer and truck that I went with Class B+/C. Safe and healthy travels to all!
You must be very careful when buying land, many areas have zoning or build restrictions against such a practice. And that includes areas in the middle of nowhere. Do a through check first.
We are listing our house for sale and moving our fifth wheel into a rented, heated barn until it sells and it's warmer. I'm not sure I want to buy land... they can track you that way. lol
Thanks guys I think one thing you didn’t mention was service on the rig granted I do my own work but just in case do you take it too a dealership or do you call someone. What’s you thought on that .
We got are RV a salesman at a dealership told us are truck was plenty big enough. So we got RV a few weeks later checking the weight after the first couple of trips. Realizing my truck wasn't quite heavy enough so we purchase another truck. Should have checked the internet for things like that. Not relying on just what the salesperson told us.
I paid for glass insurance with nationwide insurance when my side window got broke they said i'm not covered only coverage is front window on my class b. Can you imagine.
what you said at the end made me laugh. in 1989 after a messy divorce and job loss. It was just me the dog and the 5th wheel. I hooked up with a placement company in my field and I would work all over the US 6 months here 1 year there. so I got to travel to 28 states over the next 20 years till I retired. having my home with me was the biggest blessing. I would call ok have one more week here what have you got for me. they would say can you be here 2 maybe 3 days after my last day. and all I had to do was hook up the truck and was off. keep up the good work.
Hey guys love your show. I do need to say something about how you talk about manufacturers. I know the company you keep saying was bad and fully understand. The problem is by only thinking about the parent company is not cool. I know some of Forest River is junk but some are great. Each brand runs as its own company for the most part. I’ve always had great response from FR. My Cardinal was 2 years off warranty and they replaced the sidewalls under warranty. On our Vengeance we have know I found the problem was the dealers. Because the dealer jerked me around so long our warranty was extended. A lot of problems are caused by the dealers selling you the world and forgetting your name once they get paid. I looked at the momentum but chose the Vengeance ecauss of some of the materials and past experience. Keep up the great job.
Thanks for that point Joe. And you are right. Each division kind of runs their own show. We know there are a lot of FR fans out there, our experience is just from the Columbus division.
C'mon you guys really didnt enjoy the campground next to the chicken farm? Lol. I have also been shopping for a Grand Design Imagine I think I want to go with, would you guys suggest I shop at a dealer or a private party? No matter what it will be inspected by a 3rd party. Last but not least, i mentioned this when covid 19 broke in March. But i didnt hear from you 2 or i missed the message. None the less i have 5 acres in Arizona, with electricity, water and dumping capabilities. If you guys need a place to chill out and not be bothered you guys are welcome to use it Stay safe, see you guys at a rest stop or something. Take care.
I wouldn’t have bought a Prius either, specially the 2nd time around. Camping pass is a great idea but seems like it is mainly East and West coast nothing really central. Yes there is land in the $1000 range, but it seems I already know that’s not going to happen just by the response that was given.

That was a great informative video, thanks for sharing and as always, stay safe, safe travels, and God bless love ya Nancy
Looking forward to your insurance episode. Any input is greatly appreciated. Getting back on the road in a couple weeks, and wanting to be sure we are covered for anything without breaking the bank!🤨 love your videos! You have way too much fun!!
Thanks Nancy!
Looking forward to a video on full time insurance.
What Facebook groups? Like are you talking about groups by camper name or just rv groups in general?
This is a great video. Thanks so much for doing it. Happy travels!
Hello from Okinawa, Japan. Great to know. Thanks for sharing.
The biggest sticking point for Thousand Trails is the emptiness of availability in the center if the country.
Research is key to buying an RV,reviews can be deceiving you definitely want to read a lot. I think some people right bad ones no matter how small the problem is. Being mechanically inclined is a definite plus when it comes to RVING ! Great Job Guys,Love Your Videos !!!
What is the mail service that you use now and what was the mail service that you were not happy with?
I just subscribed, but we have been watching your videos for several months. My husband and I love you guys and your videos! Thank you for the entertainment and the great information! We are going full-time rving on August 15, 2020!
Totally agree about Thousand Trails. Saves a ton in long run.
Yes! Not sure why so many have a negative view of TT.

Happy 4th of July!
Good Morning from Chiang Rai Thailand!
Same to you!
As always a great video.
I just wrote a post about a sponge bath that was meant for the last video I was watching
You guys are, as usual, hilarious!
Thanks so much!
Learning experiences is a better term. As far as COVID-19 is concerned, most of us didn't know that this was going on and then boom, it happen. We have been busy living our lives. Safe travels.
Thanks Susan!
Good job Sherry. Handsome haircut
Your first RV got broken into. You need Ring Alarm system for your new RV!
I do believe in U2.................u are fantastic with each other................many thanks
I love your channel... I don't care what anyone says Tom you look just like Woody from Toy Story to me... That's probably why I enjoy watching all of your videos‼️😎‼️
Keep up the good work guys 🤠 👢 🤠
What walkie talkies do you use to connect while on the road?
Here they are www.amazon.com/dp/B001WMFYH4/?ref=exp_enjoythejourney.life_dp_vv_d
Thank you , for your Video learned a Lot..
SC you can find land for good price, Mississippi and Louisanna too
RE: Credit--that's exactly why I can't/don't want to hit the road until I can sell my house and PAY CASH for both the rig and a new truck.
Safe and healthy travels to all!
did you finance it, whats the monthly payments at? do you need full coverage insurance to finance one? ive been curious
You should check out creativity rv today she talks about getting some land and the pros and cons of that. Really Enjoy your videos. Thanks 💖
You must be very careful when buying land, many areas have zoning or build restrictions against such a practice. And that includes areas in the middle of nowhere. Do a through check first.
Love the Bloops!!!!
We are listing our house for sale and moving our fifth wheel into a rented, heated barn until it sells and it's warmer. I'm not sure I want to buy land... they can track you that way. lol
what is a good number to budget for repairs and maintenance for the various types of RV's?
Great question. I’d love to know this also.
Great information Thanks Enjoy your travels 👍
Thanks for watching!
I have soooo many learning experiences, I can’t understand why I’m not a genius yet 🤣 But I do agree with you, take the opportunity and grow it!
Ha! We get too soon old and too late smart, don’t we?
Do you still use the same mail service you have listed here?
You guys are awesome
Thanks guys I think one thing you didn’t mention was service on the rig granted I do my own work but just in case do you take it too a dealership or do you call someone. What’s you thought on that .
What's the sign above your kitchen?
We got are RV a salesman at a dealership told us are truck was plenty big enough. So we got RV a few weeks later checking the weight after the first couple of trips. Realizing my truck wasn't quite heavy enough so we purchase another truck. Should have checked the internet for things like that. Not relying on just what the salesperson told us.
Yes, so true Denny!
Great video and haircut! Thanks SAFE TRAVELS
Trails end in Virginia sells lots for $5000.00
Great information as always ghys
Glad you think so!
Lol at Toms COVID cut
Your hair looks great Tom! Right!
Thanks was great!! Speaking of what would be a great internet device?? Advice??
enjoy stay safe
another great video
I'm surprised you didn't add the time you dropped the 5th wheel trailer on your truck's back end. But a very interesting list nonetheless.
What internet provider do you use, if, I may ask? Do you get service at most areas you stay?
C'mon you guys really didnt enjoy the campground next to the chicken farm? Lol.
I have also been shopping for a Grand Design Imagine I think I want to go with, would you guys suggest I shop at a dealer or a private party? No matter what it will be inspected by a 3rd party. Last but not least, i mentioned this when covid 19 broke in March. But i didnt hear from you 2 or i missed the message. None the less i have 5 acres in Arizona, with electricity, water and dumping capabilities. If you guys need a place to chill out and not be bothered you guys are welcome to use it
Stay safe, see you guys at a rest stop or something. Take care.
That is so nice of you!🙂
Hello....Is it hard to get reservations with the camping pass? Especially in the keys?
You two are so cute!! And wise advice too. Thank you!
I wouldn’t have bought a Prius either, specially the 2nd time around.
Camping pass is a great idea but seems like it is mainly East and West coast nothing really central.
Yes there is land in the $1000 range, but it seems I already know that’s not going to happen just by the response that was given.
How many did edibles did Tom have before the video?
