@@daveywalmsley nothing to do with politics, at least not in the way you describe. The BBC has, after all, always been a lefty organisation. MTW was always a left leaning show, as were and still are most BBC shows. It was cancelled firstly because the ratings were dropping, secondly because of Frankie leaving (who was one of the main draws for viewers, leading to a slew of lesser known, less risqué comics coming on the show), and thirdly because as the world has changed (which IS a political issue caused by the left) and become more sensitive, having a show which jokes about things in such a way wasn't considered a safe bet by the BBC. As is the case with most channels and shows, the content has constantly been watered down to the point of there being no reason for it to exist, as one can't simply tell jokes and poke fun anymore. MTW has followed the same fate, and for the same reasons, as the likes of Celebrity Juice and Nevermind The Buzzcocks (the latter of which is merely a PC shadow of its former self in its current rebooted state).

They were cancelled because of a bunch of butthurt Tories so I doubt Frankie would’ve helped that situation.
@@LPKelly380 it's actually because the show has been getting worse year on year. Bad viewership, boring guests, nobody lineups and bland jokes.
There's a reason a vast majority of "best bit" type videos always show clips from the older seasons.
Tories have been in Government for over 10 years and MTW and BBC has always had a left bias. "Haha tories hate poor" jokes can only get a laugh for so long before the audience wonders if some of these newer comedians even have actual material
@@akacocox6114 You've missed a key point in looking at BBC bias. For most of those 10 years, the BBC was still controlled by an independent body and it's leadership was often journalists and broadcasters who understood what they were doing and it's public service remit. Now, however, the BBC is controlled by a completely different body that has political appointees. Now it's 2 key figures are government appointees (one a Tory donor, another a former Tory candidate) who have 0 experience of even the industries the BBC operates in, let alone the organisation itself. They have no idea what the BBC can actually do and are too easily intimidated by their comrades in the government because the power has changed and they're ideological fellow travellers anyway

@@LPKelly380 I loved the show, which was really my introduction to British comedy, but it’s best to have it die. It had a really good run, but was getting tired in its old age. I don’t agree with critics saying the show had gotten boring or “too politically correct”, but sometimes it’s best to call it a day and let everyone move on to new things.
