*We’ve only used it a couple of times **enjoyable.fishing** recommend but it was great! Easy to inflate and deflate, perfect for the 2 of us and our pup.*
I love how we got to see you unpack and modify the kayak from start to finish as you put your money, time and effort into it, and then at the end we got to see it get punctured by the hook and that was the end of it and everything inside. What a great story. The lesson i learned was to not set the hook so close to an inflatable boat. Thank you.
Had this kayak for about a year and loved it without mods but this year I wanna build it better like this so taking notes on your build to make my dream build come true!
@@edkonvang you're welcome my setup will be inspired of yours for sure I just got the same boat but 1 place. Doesn't seem to have the rod holster issue tho ! So I will modify the front paddle holster only and make a custom rack for tackle box and tools behind me. Thanks again and I wish you a lot of big fish
It's a great inflatable kayak for that price. The one in this video it was an older kayak. Now, they have a new version with gopro mount in the front and also they changed the rod holders in the back little bit diffrently but everything else still look pretty much the same.
I just got the exact same kayak yesterday, it looks very good and strong! I like your handiwork, you're a clever designer and good engineer! I especially like the camera boom you made, great idea! I'm also thinking about modifying it but not for fishing, I'm going to try to make it pedal powered. But first I'll try it out as it is, can't wait to get it on the water!
Just BARELY got this exact kayak myself! Still waiting to be taken on her maiden voyage.....weeks to go! I am so excited! This video is fantastic I was already thinking of how to mod it and could not think of anything, the bending of the pipes is what sold me. DUH! Of COURSE!! hahah....fantastic
Me and my girlfriend got this for going exploring birding and are looking to make some mods so we can both fish out of it. This video has definitely given me some ideas thanks!!!
Right on dude. I just got the same for my SKIPPY as backup Dinghy when I go to Catalina. But after seeing your ingenuity at work.. Gonna add a few tubers to mine. AND the SEAT! NICE.
Very cool! love the ideas. I have the same kayak and I think I'll use your rear rod holder idea extend one side and mount a piece of wood for electric trolling motor. Thanks for the video.
I hope you make a video on how durable it has been so far! Plan to buy it very soon, maybe even right now bc I don't want to waste anymore time waiting on reviews of this thing when i could be fishing on it this Summer!
Thanks for the great idea with the seat! Bought a stadium seat on Amazon and seems like it's going to be really easy to install with this velcro tape I bought!
Hi, Do you think you will be adding a trolling motor to it? if you do can you make a tutorial video about it. I just ordered this kayak and was thinking about adding a motor to it. Thank you!
When you yank your hook at 8:47 does it ever pop your kyak? It seems i'm doing it so often on shore that I'm too scared to fish in the middle of a lake
The upgrade are fantastic... except for the rods up front. (least for me) If i had rods up front like that i couldn't cast out freely. Overall tho, great upgrades!
NEVER EXPLAINED???? i have the same kayak...what is the wrench for he took out of the box at beginging of the video??? it looks like a something that would roll up the windows in a car?
i also have the Intex Explorer K2 too. The Intex Explorer K2 is made out of cheap material. i only used it 1 time and now it just sits in my garage. i would recommend the Intex Excursion Pro. For me it's worth paying an extra $100 because you're getting a better inflatable kayak. This Intex Excursion Pro is 13 foot. It's a little bit longer, has more space, goes smoother in the water, and is also made of better material. i love this one.
Edkon Entertainment and Outdoors very nice setup. I was looking at the K2 because if the price. But now looking your mods and comments I’m considering the Excursion. Can you comment more on the material? Is the material more thicker? I’m planning to fish with it as well.
Really nice engineering!! Quick question. Once inflated, how easy is it to pick up and move the kayak. I have about a 50 yard walk from the place where I would fill it up with air and the area where I can get into the water. Thanks
Good afternoon I plan to buy such a kayak, please tell me how it showed itself in terms of reliability, what disadvantages you identified during the use, thank you in advance
It's a great kayak. The material is pretty durable. The only thing I don't like are the seats. They're not comfortable so I customized a new seat for it. Other than the seats, I enjoy using this kayak.
Do you sell these mods or consider a custom request? You are an artist with your ingenuity in making the most out of your modifications. Also, will you be posting an updated video with this kayak know that you have your anchor/measure tool/new seat done?
Would you make these rigs for other people if we sent you money? I have an Excursion Pro as well, but I'm not as handy - looking for basically the same setup, but also for a canopy/sun shade.
The reason the rods cross in the centre of the craft is so they are not in the way of your paddle. I realize that you've bought the single person recently, having watched that mod also. Question for you... how do you find the differences between the two, in performance and operation?
Sorry, I never had the Intex Excursion K1 so I wouldn't be able to tell you the differences. I had the Intex Excursion K2 but I only use one seat. So, that's probably why you think I have a K1 but it's not.
I’m looking at buying this kayak to go yak fishing with my buddy. These are some awesome modifications you did! Thanks for posting this. I will be doing the same thing! I also subscribed to your page and look forward to watching your adventures.👊🏽
i'm using 1" 4 way pvc cross fitting and the black pipe was 1 1/2". it doesn't fit perfectly so you have to use a heater gun to heat up the black pipe so you can mold it to fit. If you don't have a heater gun you can also use a stove. Hope this help!
The last 5 seconds of this video are my greatest fear when I'm fishing from the same kayak!! I know this thing is tough, but hooks are sharp lol!! Are you still using this kayak? If so, how's it holding up? If not, why not?
Those are not rod holders. They are rod holder mounting points. You buy rod holders and insert them into those holes and the rod will sit pointing out of the boat.
Nice vid ! Anyone knows how good or bad the original seats are ? I will buy this model I think but these seats looks like cheap plastic stuffs that will uninflate in 2 hours...
The original seats are functional but uncomfortable for extended periods, especially the taller/heavier you are. They have a good degree of give to them and I think the bleacher seat he added would be a game changer. The way he has it clipped in I doubt the modification he made to the bottom is absolutely needed either.
Dude! I had the same kayak for a while now. Looks like u live in Southern Ca. Do you make and sell these? I’m too lazy to make it myself. lol I’ll pick up. I’d want 2 trolling holders and one of the 3 rod holder that you have in the back behind the seat. Don’t need camera holder or seat. Let me know bro!
Hello, Edkon. I just bought this kayak myself after the Explorer K2 I had suffered a split near the seam that was not repairable. Have you suffered any unrepairable issues with yours? I know some people have had issues with punctures, but anything that can't be fixed yet?
Yes, i would recommend it because it held up well for me on the lake. the issue i had was when i took it to the lake one time and started blowing air into the kayak, i heard air coming out from a tear. So, i didn't put in the water. So, sorry but i don't have an answer your second question because i wasn't in the lake when it happened.
It was a store bought foldable seat from Dick's Sporting Good. I took the bottom seat padding out & kept the back rest with the metal bars intact. Next, i drilled 2 holes on each side of fhe bottom bars. Then i measured & cut a piece of thin wood to fit underneath the bottom bars. I made the wood piece a couple of centimeters wider past the seat bars so i could mount the bars onto the wood piece better. Since i took out the bottom seat padding, i replaced it with another floor mat padding. I measured it to fit snugly inside the bottom bars, which became the seat. Last, i put a piece of velcro on the bottom of the wood piece so that it sticks onto the velcro piece inside the kayak that is used to add the higher seat on.
Would u mind if you can provide me with the name of your chair? I didn’t find it at dick’s.. all chair u found are bigger for the size of this kayak. please and thank you
At this moment my work schedule is hectic and I don't have any free time right now. Sorry, but I won't have time to make one. Thanks for liking the mods!
Hello Edkon I see your video and I want to ask you something this modification you make is DIFFICULT to make it! I ask you because I wheel buy 1 kayak! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR OTHER VIDEO I LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!
Avoid this kayak! Mine came with two punctures!! They come from the folding of the material which causes stress points in the pvc. I've bought a load of crapp! I haven't even used mine either. Not happy with Intex at all.
Ah, sorry to hear that. Mine arrived yesterday, in perfect condition. Looks like you were just unlucky, I hope you got a refund. I will pay attention to how I fold it, I think just by rolling it up I might avoid sharp creases.
*We’ve only used it a couple of times **enjoyable.fishing** recommend but it was great! Easy to inflate and deflate, perfect for the 2 of us and our pup.*
Must be editied.. that ending is no longer here.

What a great story. The lesson i learned was to not set the hook so close to an inflatable boat. Thank you.
😂😂i thought the same thing
Mad Respect! You took a good kayak with a few challenges and “made it” fit your needs. Buying one and will look back at this as I do my mods.
Had this kayak for about a year and loved it without mods but this year I wanna build it better like this so taking notes on your build to make my dream build come true!
I love your ingenuity with these mods! I just got this kayak and though I don’t fish, I may use your gopro mount and seat ideas! Thanks!
thanks! glad i could help! have a great day!
Why arent u fishing? Is like having a mountain bike but only use it on the streets. U can fish and kayak at the same time.
Last scene missin haha, idk. Maybe a similar reason i like walking the park without hitting a golf ball 😀

Really awesome mods, especially the fishing rod holder for the front. Thank you for the inspiration !
Thanks!
Great modification... I've just bought this Kayak as an upgrade from the K2 Explorer.. 😊
