Played cyberpunk for the first time earlier this year. I wholeheartedly agree that Female V is far and away the greatest voice acting ive seen in any game. Im wxcited to hear that she does even better in Phantom Liberty. Cant wait!
Best parts of 2.0, imo: Crafting is decoupled from the Tech skill tree now. The (previous) 12 skill progression tracks are now streamlined to five tracks. Character Stats display screen (in the menu) significantly streamlined & simplified. Some key story dialogue sequences have been augmented, debugged, or otherwise improved. First-person running animations are smoother now; it’s subtle, but noticeable. Third-person vehicle camera angle has more options now. I agree with Paul about Leigh’s voice performance within CP 2077 - the male actor does a good job, but Leight’s work is both excellent and superior.
Great video and thanks on info for Phantom Liberty. I had a level 50 V and completed all the gigs, so there isn't any real things to do on the map. So i can't even really take advantage of the 2.0 update till Phantom Liberty releases with new story and gigs. So i decided to make a temporary new character just to get used to 2.0. I'll go back to level 50 V when Phantom Liberty releases.
Having gone back, I either incorrectly remember a lot of things or CDPR has changed a lot. Places look different, dialogue has changed etc. Definitely worth replaying for anyone who hasn't recently played, especially with the reworked skill tree
Got my two max levels ready for the expansion got attached to my nomad netgunner and netrunner ninja only consider starting a new character till after I 100 percent those.
I agree about the female v, played my first two playthroughs as male v, on my third I chose street kid and female v and it was my favorite run of the game
just finished the game for the first time had since release couldnt get into it due to that old skill tree system annoyed the hell out of me and enjoyed female v as a nomad i started a second run as well with male v and street kid so cant wait to see how that turns out
Personally I really like Male Vs calm delivery of the voice lines. Female V definitely brings more emotion to her performance, but I think it can come across a little over the top at times and kinda took me out of it in some of the pivotal moments. I liked the less is more approach for V, but maybe that’s just from my Geralt bias of CDPRs protagonists
I beat the game 3 times as well, I don't have time to start a new playthrough just to get to Phantom Liberty. I just loaded the last save I had from the character I planned on using, and started working on learning the new cyberware/perks.
I like both of V's VA's but as someone who mainly plays female V, I do feel like the voice has more emphasis due impactful scenes as opposed to male V's. Though I've mostly seen the latter from watching my brother-in-law and a few of my friends playing the game. On another note, this game has come a long way... I still remember when you'd find random objects floating around and car physics would sometimes send you careening through the air, off a bridge and into the side of a building. Now the game is to the point of being almost a flex of what CDPR is capable of if they really put themselves to it. Looking forward to Phantom Liberty when it drops.
Female VA's are usually better in games with an either/or choice because they're allowed more range, nuance and playfulness. Femshep, Nora, V, as examples. The Male VA options usually have to be stoic or serious. Default gruff, smug or angry. A notable game with a superior Male VA choice would be RAGE 2. It really comes down to what tone is asked of the actor, and how they pull it off
@@pinewolfpresents I haven't ever played RAGE but I could see that now that you've pointed it out. Unfortunate, but I guess its more broadly relatable for players that way.
3 or so weeks ago I finished my Nomad play though. It was the only lifepath I hadn’t done before and I’d started it months ago but got distracted. Then because I had Cyberpunk fever, I wanted to make a new character and start a new game but I stopped after the heist until 2.0 dropped. Now I’ve been playing since then and just started I Walk The Line. I want to experience the new stuff so what I’ll probably end up doing is staggering PL and main game content so that I can complete PL close to when I want to complete the main story but there’s no way I could rush through the story again just to tack PL on the end and tie it up in a bow. Even though I’ve done this 3 times already and now a 4th, I really enjoy the ride
I got cyberpunk a few months ago and didn’t even do the heist mission yet I was just leveling up my character doing all the side, Contant collecting cool weapons and getting money. After the update I did the highest and it was a blast and I’m having a ton of fun with all the new perks, and basically it’s like I’m playing the game from the beginning now since I really didn’t barely play the game anyway but yea definitely looking forward to the rest of the game now for sure So I didn’t start and new game and this decision was perfect for me
It’s like female Shepard from Mass Effect! Jennifer Hales voice gave Commander Shepherd so much tone and personality. While the male one just sounded monotone
Thanks Paul, appreciate the advice. Was holding off on a new file until the DLC dropped but good to know I don’t have to and can start a new right now. Looking forward to it!
It’s wonderful seeing how far the game has come. I bought the game the summer after it released for ten bucks, avoiding the launch fiasco. Didn’t really play it until the fall and after the first really notable patch. I had no expectations going into the game and was hooked more than any other game I have ever played. It had its issues then but the story, VA, and environment helped me look past them. I have so many play throughs between PS4 and PC. Bought a steam deck to enjoy the expansion wherever I go. It’s great to be here with the game. To have so much more to do, to have better systems, and see it where it truly belongs.
I started new play thru when 2.0 dropped and I'm already at Voodoo boys mission. Took like 10 hours. However, this is my 7th playthrough, so I blasted thru it.
I have both a male & female character from each life path all leveled between 8 - 47 but all of them each have enough money from glitches I did. I never finished the full game because I waited until I could get each one of them leveled up & money before I did the main quests pass the heist. I am also a day one survivor lol so after all the patches I took a break. So I’m in a good spot but regardless I even had to start a new character just to learn the new system before the DLC comes out. I’ve been waiting out for the DLC to finish the game & I’m glad I found this video because I didn’t know what way to go.
What I’m doing it starting a new character and just working on it while waiting for phantom Liberty but my first and second playthrough of phantom Liberty will be with my 2 favorite alrdy established level 50 characters. And then I can experience PL as part of the whole game with my new one when I want, not feel rushed. Just because you start a new character doesn’t mean you have to use that character for your first PL experience ✌️. Imo would be a lot less fun playing it mid game for first time than level 50 v that has as much good gear, perks, and cyberware as possible. If your a player with nothing left to do in game just replay endings. You’ll get lots of loot, money shards and perk shards from doing so, what I’ve been doing.
Thank you for the suggestion about female V in the phantom liberty playthru. My partner and I will be play/watching together and since it's her first time a restart and fresh voice will be nice for us both. Kudos and keep up the good work
Small quibble- clothing is not purely cosmetic. Some do have stats but they are generally unrelated to armor and are much less important than previously.
Thank you so much for making this video. I made some really good progress recently and I would absolutely hate starting over at this point. (I already started over not too long ago.) I think CDPR needs to retract their blanket statement of telling EVERYONE to make a new playthrough.
I last played CP2077 on Dec. 19, 2020 and had like 70-ish hours in the game. So I deffo went for the full new start for the 2.0 update and eventual Phantom Liberty DLC.
I have a playthrough that was only just past the relic heist so I felt pretty comfortable jumping into that one for phantom liberty, but I honestly wouldn't recommend playing 2.0 on any character that's past that point, all cyberware gets downgraded to green quality and your OP builds don't exist anymore
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks Paul. Was weighing up whether to take my maxed male V through Phantom Liberty or finally roll a female and start 2.0 + PL fresh. Your advice has clinched the latter for me. Cheers.
Love both voice actors for V. My first two playthroughs were with female V, so I have a bit of a bias in that direction... and for Judy. But I'm starting a new game with male V and I think the voice has really grown on me. I will say tho that male corpo V comes off as a much bigger asshole compared to female V and it's kinda hilarious lol
Great vid thanks for the info. As a vet with too much time in the game i'm starting fresh again looking forward to the changes. Keep up with the great content!
I completed everything in the game in 2020, probably had 30+ crashes on PS5 back then, definitely gonna be restarting the game to play it from a new perspective, can’t wait
Female V > Male V Kassandra > Nothing > Alexios CP2077 2.0 feels like a new game and it is definitely more difficult, I actually have to pay attention.
I'm loving 2.0 on my series s, I hope they still plan on bug fixes, because I'm seeing some glitch light distortions happening sometimes, and sometimes the game flickers black
Thanks for the great video Paul, so you mean get right before to the talk to Hanako quest before starting PL? I was planning on making a new character anyway. I've finished both Street Kid and Nomad and was waiting for PL to play a Corpo.
What always stood out for me was that Cherami always makes lines that would fall a little flat/corny with Male V work much much better with the way she delivers them. Definitely my definitive V, especially with her interactions with Judy ❤️
Damn i didnt know we had to get to the voodoo part. I started a new game but i guess ill go back to my high level game where i finished the story. I dont have time to power rush to that point on my new character for phantom liberty.
I’m still waiting to see whether to get it for Xbox X or PS5? Digital Foundry hasn’t given us the breakdown yet, other than a detailed account for PC specs. Any advice about that technical aspect? Which performs best?
I played on release and I'm planning to replay the game as a Corpo Female V. Just waiting for the DLC so I can play from start of the base game to the end of the DLC.
I played a female V but I didn't know about Panam and I still haven't gotten over getting shot down by her. I'm playing a male V this time but I still have my female V playthrough saved so I may use her for Phantom Liberty if I get it.
Agree 100 percent about female V’s voice performance. However, the relationship with Jackie does feel a bit incongruous as a female. Its seems to be written as a bromance (and one of the best in gaming to boot)
As someone who sunk 90 hours in originally with male v, I personally like his voice. Female V is definitely better for sure, but the male voice is still pretty damn good
QUESTION: With Phantom Liberty installed, can you get the new clothes in the base game/without entering Dogtown/without starting the expansion questline?
Does recommending “wait until the end of the game to start PL” mean Meet Hanako at Embers first & complete the main campaign? Or do everything you want, then when you WOULD HAVE met Hanako at embers, instead *now* activate PL, then MH@E is still the last thing you do?
It would be nice to know what im picking up when I scroll over weapons and clothing in containers, I dont know why they nix'ed this. And some clothing does have armor, armor is armor...
I was just before The Heist on my playthrough when 2.0 hit, so I just stuck with it. Missing shards and lost crafting mats sting, but its not too rough a transition at this point
I have a save with a character at max level and endgame set up 36hours ish. But I decided to make a new character to learn what’s new in the update. A lot has changed and honestly I got no clue what I’m doing with the skill tree
Not really happy with many of the changes tbh, especially regarding the skill tree and cyberware, also armor no longer being on (most) clothing makes clothing redundant.
Do we know yet if there are any conversations, quests, info that we will miss related to phantom liberty in the first two acts of the game once the DLC drops that we will miss if we go through early game now?
Hearing phantom liberty should be saved for last doesn't give me hope that it gives V a way to survive for longer. At the beginning of the game vik tells V he literally has weeks to live, so it's really hard to imagine V doing anything except for the main story and maybe a few of big side quest lines, no way V is going to go around doing random gigs for cred and cash when he's on the verge of death. Cdpr has shown that songbird has some control over the relic, so I hope that she will at least be able to subdue it at the beginning of the expansion and give V more time. The fake urgency in the main story is what really made nearly everything in the game feel bad to do, because it doesn't feel like something V would actually do
Question for the players like me who have completely min maxed my end game build how well dose phantom liberty scale with it as I still want a challenge
Good video Paul. One follow up question: Does 2.0 make any changes to vanilla main story content? I.e changes to quest objectives, boss encounters, plot elements, etc?
I find it hard spec-ing my old V without knowing how the new systems flow. Having used mainly pistols on the old playthrough but since my attributes no longer lineup for a pistol-based character it feels bad to try and continue with the old character. Seems like I'm building a new V just to smoothly integrate into the new systems.
People are wondering if they should wait for PL launch because there is concern that new items will drop in the regular game from the start (so you might be missing out on potential new items by starting now). So are the new items only available in the expansion area?
Interesting stats regarding Vs VAs - i played V corpo first as a male and my game bugged out, lost the save so I made a female V just for the sake of it and im absolutely sold on girl-boss V being canon 🤣 plus I'm down so bad for judy 😭
What are you on about? It IS 100% a good reason to start the game now before Liberty come out. Its the perfect time to start a new game. 2.0 is worth a brand new playthru all together.
Hello paul tassi, would you recommend I start a third character for the dlc. I have a 100% completion netrunner and a speedran character with a maxed sandevistan build but no side mission completion. What would you recommend.
I dnt like the recomendation to make another playthrough because at max lv u only get 50 skill Points people would have to farm and redo the ncpd perk shards again which is not worth it rather be able to have access to as many perks as possible and go into PL with the V ive started this journey with.
I feel the biggest disappointment in cyberpunk is that you really only have 1 romance option. There's an option for a straight male, gay male, straight woman, and gay woman. So whatever you lean towards, is really the only option. And I just found panam incredibly boring. Basically, it comes nowhere close to the triss vs yennefer situation. Which is a shame
This is why I like modding on computer, if you console. You only picking the male, I'm fan Cherami Leigh. So modding you can romance Panam as a female. Not now, but once the patch is done, we will get it back.
Hi Paul!! Would love to know if update 2.0 is launching on old gen? Have seen people online saying yes and no, but have no way to check since I’m away from home atm!! Would like some clarification on this!
I wonder if all those statistics Paul consulted take into account people like me, who played CP2077 several times, alternating between male and female Vs? I played enough times to romance all the main romance choices at least once.
Generally across the base game it's optional in the same way that stealth is often optional. I doubt they would force you to do much or any of it in the DLC
There used to be a series of skills in the Intelligence tree that made Breach Protocol (the hacking minigame) ridiculously easy, but I haven't worked out if they're still there in the reworked trees yet. Haven't gotten around to examining it thoroughly. They were great if you were basically playing a techno-wizard build. I think there's only like 1 or 2 instances in the whole game where using Breach Protocol is story relevant, but in both instances there is another way to handle the corresponding objective.
Can you please find out what the hell going on Destiny 2 servers? Bungie wouldn't say if Ddsos attacks that been going on pass week? We just want to play lol 😆

I was just before The Heist on my playthrough when 2.0 hit, so I just stuck with it. Missing shards and lost crafting mats sting, but its not too rough a transition at this point
First run was male V, then I did a female V and now that’s all I pick. Hands down a better experience, plus I get to romance my girl Judy
I like male V's voice he makes V sound hot.
I have a save with a character at max level and endgame set up 36hours ish. But I decided to make a new character to learn what’s new in the update. A lot has changed and honestly I got no clue what I’m doing with the skill tree
There's a reason why Cherami Leigh narrates No_Coincidence.
Not really happy with many of the changes tbh, especially regarding the skill tree and cyberware, also armor no longer being on (most) clothing makes clothing redundant.
Hey! Have you experienced crashing since 2.0? It happened to me like 3 or 4 times. I’m on PS5.
I prefer female V because i like the voice more
Do we know yet if there are any conversations, quests, info that we will miss related to phantom liberty in the first two acts of the game once the DLC drops that we will miss if we go through early game now?
100% agree with female V voice and Cass from AC Odyssey, also to add Jennifer Hale as fem shepard from mass effect trilogy too.
The fake urgency in the main story is what really made nearly everything in the game feel bad to do, because it doesn't feel like something V would actually do
It really sucks that i lost so many skill points. I had 118 before the patch and now i only have 63.
Boss enemies are all throughout the game now. Some side quests have new npcs and stuff but nothing major to the main story.
Watching
Interesting stats regarding Vs VAs - i played V corpo first as a male and my game bugged out, lost the save so I made a female V just for the sake of it and im absolutely sold on girl-boss V being canon 🤣 plus I'm down so bad for judy 😭
What are you on about? It IS 100% a good reason to start the game now before Liberty come out. Its the perfect time to start a new game. 2.0 is worth a brand new playthru all together.
Yeah we got a couple days to replay i like that they released it before PL
Hello paul tassi, would you recommend I start a third character for the dlc. I have a 100% completion netrunner and a speedran character with a maxed sandevistan build but no side mission completion. What would you recommend.
Oh nevermind you answer this in the video.
I dnt like the recomendation to make another playthrough because at max lv u only get 50 skill Points people would have to farm and redo the ncpd perk shards again which is not worth it rather be able to have access to as many perks as possible and go into PL with the V ive started this journey with.
Pro tip regarding deleting clothes. Still equip a pair of shoes unless you want to listen to your bare feet slapping the pavement everywhere
Which is a shame
is the nvidia dlss thing in cyberpunk?
I like how Paul says "login" like Cyberpunk is supposed to be a online game
probably too much Destiny
YALL go get the new Apogee Sandi. It’s SO BROKEN
This is why I like modding on computer, if you console. You only picking the male, I'm fan Cherami Leigh. So modding you can romance Panam as a female. Not now, but once the patch is done, we will get it back.
Can I finish my 75% complete save and go into Phantom Liberty?
Yeah
Paul great video but baby yoda was freaking me out bro he keep starring
Hi Paul!! Would love to know if update 2.0 is launching on old gen? Have seen people online saying yes and no, but have no way to check since I’m away from home atm!! Would like some clarification on this!
It’s next gen only.
update 2.0 and phantom liberty are ONLY releasing on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 - and PC
Next gen (ps5 and xbox x only) the new systems are too intensive for old gen, which is why the game launched without them
No, and thankfully no. They also updated spec requirements for PC to fit modern standards
No it’s this gen only
I wonder if all those statistics Paul consulted take into account people like me, who played CP2077 several times, alternating between male and female Vs? I played enough times to romance all the main romance choices at least once.
I played as both. The female has better voice work.
Hi paul! Just wondering if phantom liberty had a lot of hacking in it? Im just starting out and that game aspect isnt one of my favorites
Generally across the base game it's optional in the same way that stealth is often optional. I doubt they would force you to do much or any of it in the DLC
@@JAM0LO thank you brother
There used to be a series of skills in the Intelligence tree that made Breach Protocol (the hacking minigame) ridiculously easy, but I haven't worked out if they're still there in the reworked trees yet. Haven't gotten around to examining it thoroughly. They were great if you were basically playing a techno-wizard build. I think there's only like 1 or 2 instances in the whole game where using Breach Protocol is story relevant, but in both instances there is another way to handle the corresponding objective.
Cassandra forever haha!!
female v has better VA for sure but i just play male v cuz im male and its more immersive for me
Is it just me or can I hear thumping in the background?
But have they patched the atm free item glitch?
The one with the stupid painting? I think they did
Enemies scale with you so you can start it early, get even more OP and wreck the main game
Can you please find out what the hell going on Destiny 2 servers? Bungie wouldn't say if Ddsos attacks that been going on pass week? We just want to play lol 😆
I like playing male v cause I play with a pistol and he sounds like a cowboy
