In this video I take you along my ridiculous Pokemon Black Challenge Journey through the world of Unova in Generation 5 as I attempt to beat the entire game with only Sandile, and without using Items in Battle! Am I able to do it? Only one way to find out!

Having moxie rather than intimidate was absolutely MASSIVE for you this run. Had you gotten intimidate (normally a great ability, but far less so in a solo run) youd have had a significantly harder time.
yeah even in normal gameplay moxie is a really op ability, one of the best in the game. for solo runs it is way better, making it possibly the best ability you could have.
It's even more than you think. Having Intimidate activate at the start of each battle will slow down grinding SO much. Seriously. I've been playing through this same game with only not-very-effective moves. Having an extra line of text per battle slows down level grinding so much.
I preferred having intimidate for an ability for my sandile, I don't know why
Dude, I love the Sandile family. Strong physical attack, great moves like Earthquake and Crunch, and the ability Moxie? That's a potent combo.
Yeah moxie hard carried the run, MDB would've been screwed if he got an intimidate Sandile instead

I prefer Intimidate, it makes the Pokemon physically bulky
@@levy9595 Ehhh Intimidate is still a really good ability. Intimidate would make things easy for him too.
Sometimes "How broken is this?" can be as fun as "Oh god how am I going to do this?" Don't be afraid to treat yourself to a weird but powerful mon every now and then
I'm just picturing Sandile bringing out a beach chair with umbrella for MDB, and handing him a drink with a tiny paper umbrella and straw as he sits down while going "You just relax, I'll take care of things today." And then going off screen and sounds of Sandile just absolutely annihilating the game drift over while MDB gets to enjoy himself.
The Moxie-powered sweeps were remarkable. Maybe the best ability for one of these challenges altogether?
I know it's not gonna happen, but whenever MDB does a run with a Pokémon that can learn the move Sandstorm by level up, I always hope he names it Darude.

I love how even though he starts off with Sandile, the silhouette still shows Oshawott. Also, I burst out laughing when he said he one shot Zekrom with his baby crocodile.
You know, you could definitely try fitting in the Cynthia fight in Undella Town whenever a BW run goes this smoothly.

I like to believe that the only reason the Normal Gym victory went to smoothly is because someone took control of Lenora's AI. As the rule of pokemon states, "Confusion will always trigger for a real person, never the AI."
That was the epitome of a glass cannon run. Nice work.
If you want to try Sandile in Gen 1, maybe take a look at the Unova Red ROM, it replaces the usual Gen 1 pokemon with Gen 5 pokemon, whether it works with the Universal Pokemon Randomizer I'm not sure though.
I believe there is also a rom hack that places all Pokémon up to x/y into gen 1. It just makes all dark/steel/fairy into normal type.

What a beast Sandile is. Ive wanted a Sandile Challenge run for idk how long and enjoyed it. Possibly my favourite evo line of the gen
This video is a prime example of how damn good Moxie is. That's genuinely why I believe you had a much easier time in this run, say for a few rough spots. Like, there was rarely any rough spots in this run because of Moxie. If you had Intimidate, then you would have a rough time in the run.
Sandile: the whole generation against me? That's unfair!... For them
love it! But also for black runs - since you do red in gen 2, and Steven in gen 3, you could do a secret boss fight in gen 5 with Cynthia in undella town! She’s a fun final boss. : )
I really like Sandile. Probably my favorite Ground type line next to Trapinch.

You know what would be really fun to see you attempt? The Alder fight. You'd have to go through the E4 again, but their levels would be higher (so better challenge) and the Alder fight itself is pretty challenging. Just something to think about maybe?

There has to be a moxie scraggy run now. This was crazy and I need more!
As an avid scraggy and sandile enjoyer, Scraggy is half as fast as sandile than Sandile. But it is twice as bulky as Sandile, so it might actually survive a hit.
This Pokémon Challenge video just shows how freaking awesome of an Ability Moxie is, so much so that a normally incredible Ability in Intimidate would be inferior in this particular run
I kinda anticipated that this run would be a breeze when you got Moxie, but was not expecting it to be that amazing, excellent run!!

Bite has 60 Base Power (90 with STAB), Crunch has 80 (120), but yeah, flinching can be very important!

This was one of the most incredible runs I’ve ever seen. I love Sandile and watching u Blitz most of the game with my boi was a beautiful sight to behold. I’m willing to bet that Sandile is one of your new favorite Gen 5 pokemon

THE BOI! Sandile and their entire line are some of my favourite pokemon, if not my defacto favourite ground type, really glad you got a chance to make the lad shine!
I commented on a video a few years ago about having failed to catch a shiny Sandile in Pokémon Y, and suggesting a challenge about beating a Pokémon game with one. I'm glad to see that the challenge actually happened!

I was gonna ask why MDB kept Bite instead of Crunch, because as good as the flinch is, Crunch is consistently stronger by 20 base power.

This vid was nice. Gen 5 is my favorite gen and the Sandile line is one of my favorite sets of ground type Pokémon. Loved the vid, I'd wish that youd do more gen 5 vids but I do the the constient rival battles are annoying.

Bite and crunch don't have a large bp difference, until you factor in the stab bonus 60-90 and 80-120 a 30 bp difference after stab, i'd call that a large difference makes it more powerful than return too

There is a post game boss to Black and White if you ever get a run like this again.
You Can challenge the Elite Four again and they will be much much harder, and then I think you can challenge Alder to actually become the champion.
Which reminds me. I did a Porygon run in Pokemon Black months ago. And even though I failed to make it through the post-game I actually took Porygon though the main story and beat the game but even though I'll call that a successful run I think I might revisit the run again in the future with better EV training so I can try to retry the post-game along with a few runs I already beat such as White 2 with only a Metagross and Shield with only one Diglett since I didn't EV train much in any of those runs.
Moxie is an incredibly fun ability to use. You feel like an avalanche, gaining more and more power and momentum the longer the fight goes on.

Ok. So Momma crocodiles are actually really good mamas. Like they're still crocodiles, but they respond to the babies distress calls and do care for them post hatching.
So now I've got this image of little baby Sandile knocking out God and then proudly turning around to loudly announce this to the giant, level 100 Crookodile that's been quietly following her baby and her baby's trainer.
The Sandile line and Nido lines are my favorite pokemon. So I really like ground types

That was a cool little crock! I really like this run.
I've been thinking of this for awhile now. To do a challenge run with only two pokemon in total. Which includes in your party and boxes combined. With the ability to release at the nearest convenient time possible should more than two exist.

Hey MDB, about your Sandile question around 11:41 about it being in gen 1. There is a rom hack called Pokemon Brown. Where it puts pretty much every mon up until gen 7 and gives them Gen 1 stats and mechanics with their abilities. It's actually hilarious, the other rom you could try is Red 721 but that's more of a "challenge" rom where every trainer has competitive movesets etc.

Late, but for future reference, the TM for Rock Tomb is in the Desert Resort on the way to Nimbasa City. It can hit Elesa's Emolgas hard and lower their speed, so if your Pokemon can learn it it's a great grab.

Crookodile is one of the strongest pokemons of that game. No surprise that Sandile performed this well.
First thing I thought of to take care of sturdy fighting type Pokémon was sandstorm earlier in the fight, then protect and then attack the sturdy Pokémon.

i loved the pokemon x play through and really do wish you would do more like it. i would especially love seeing you play through a rom hack like radical red or infinite fusions
I would love to see two different runs by you.
First: would you be able to do a Vulpix run in a gen of your choice, maybe gen 5? There are a ton of good moves, it can learn, which should be interesting.
Second: an eeveelution run - you need some easier time anyway, and gen 4 may be fun for that giving you 7 possible pokemon for the team and good coverage.
Otherwise i wanted to know, what you think about monotypes run for challenges? Like gen 2 with only grass types? I have no particular idea for a gen and a type, where this should be interesting.
Lol. I kinda expected this outcome. The first time I played Black I had a sandile with Moxie, and it immediately did EXACTLY this for me. Fully evolved it easily carried my team all the way through post game.
Wow, I figured this would be an easy run by the way you talked about it last week but this was easier then I ever imagined. Then and elder scrolls run next, you're just full of surprises. I'm hoping you surprise us with a Murkrow only run at some point too *hint-hint* ;)
StreetSharx the glass cannon! Sandile is one of the best things to come out of gen V, is typically always on my team in some capacity. Also i like t hall of fame thing you mentioned, you should do a retrospective of your most memorable runs and do a tier list of a hall of fame :)
