    Thanks Scott! I just purchased this from Amazon and tried it last night. Helps with getting all the water out of tight areas and enabled me to wipe off the remaining areas with a cloth and quick detailer without putting too much pressure on the paint. Adding it to my wash regimen. Your videos rock. Love the no BS attitude.

    Rinsing car without hose nozzle allowing water to sheet in conjunction with a leaf blower, is a huge time saver!:D Great tip Scott!

      That hose nozzle trick was such a revelation for me too, the car's basically dry before you dry it, yes!

      I don't quite get what you mean. Rinse and dry with both hands or something?

    • @djdrake5379
      @djdrake5379 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcjoseph1124 For your final rinse, remove the nozzle from your garden hose. Rinsing this way, insures the stream of water dries the car itself.
      Once done, your car is completely dry aside from a few spots which can either blow off the car or blot with a microfiber/drying towel.

    Blower has been my go to for years. Blow the driveway, pull car out, blow loose debris off car, open doors, remove car mats, blow mats and interior (less to vacuum)under seats etc. Now wash and dry as Scott illustrated. Idea is to be fast touch your car finish as little as possible.

    Another great video and after testing one, I've placed an order for one. One criticism though Scott, I know the white car is yours so its easy to demonstrate things conveniently on it but, its hard to see the details on a white car, like the water on the paint etc.

    Congrats on 5k subscriptions!!!! Love your videos .
    Just got this blower and tried it out.
    Last week I did a two step griots paint correction (correcting creme, some perfecting creme) and finished with griots final sealant ( I think that's what it's called).... so the paint is protected.
    Yesterday I Washed the vehicle and used my pressure washer this time around to rinse.....the paint was really hydrophobic.... tons of tiny water beads.
    Using the blower I found that yes, it blew lots of water off but found that it took forever to really push off all the water beads... in fact the little micro beads of water just wouldn't blow away... just got blown around.....
    This particular vehicle isn't all that big... a Ford Escape... but it took a while to dry it up....
    In any case the micro beads did dry up and did leave a ton of tiny water spots so much so that today I used maguires detail spray to wipe the vehicle down as the spots were bothering me... got most of them off.
    What I learned.... maybe next time I will use running water to rinse instead of pressure washer as it will leave larger beads of water which may be easier to blow off and I will only try to get 80% of the water off and microfibre the rest.... I hope this produces better results than what I did this weekend.
    Any thoughts Scott?

    Hi Scott been recently binging on your video and they all talk good sense.On this video you talk about water spots,I don’t get water spots after washing the car I rinse with DI purified water and it leaves no water spots so you can save time by allowing to drip dry, but to keep customers happy you need to dry off.But what the DI does is save time as the glass is spotless.Again Di can act as a degreaser removing wax so you would need to re-apply quick wax

      Johnny Boy I was thinking the same thing using the Ridgid wd4070, just taking the vac hose and switching it to the blower part, but I don’t want to push out any contamination from vacuuming onto the wet car that could be stuck in the corrugated parts of the hose. You can buy another hose for just for the blower so it stays clean, or you can buy a worx leaf blower and dry the cars you work on and also clean up your yard lol. $40 for another hose just to dry the car or $55 for leaf blower that can do multiple jobs. It actually doesn’t look like a leaf blower, especially If you black out the Worx lettering, it will look like some expensive car dryer that was made just for that purpose. Idk I’m still debating, hose or the Worx🤔

    • @STILLNIGHTPEARL
      @STILLNIGHTPEARL 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s actually not more powerful, this is 600 cfm, more cfm than any battery powered unit, even a lot of gas powered units, plus no worries about batteries, fuel or mixing, or any of that. The only thing the ego has is air speed, but you don’t need that much air speed to move water, what’s more important is cfm. That’s why you can dry a car pretty well at 80 mph on the freeway, but the amount of air hitting it is huge, lots of cfm. The ego moves 580 cfm of air, but that’s at the highest setting, battery wont last very long, back to recharging it. 👎🏻

    You mentioned if a car has no wax, it would be hard for a leaf blower to blow off the water off. I just clay bar and waxed my car a couple weeks ago. I used a PH balanced car soap to wash it the other day and I saw a lot of beading and water sheeting. The problem was why did the water act as if The car had no wax on it. I used mother’s Clay bar and meguiar’s unltimate paste wax. I used pretty powerful blower and it should have blown the water off easily

  • @shythawks9549

    One thing we all always forget about leaf blowers is the air it’s sucking in is not filtered! Gta remember that so your blowing whatever that blower is sucking in onto the paint of the car your drying. I’m sure the chances aren’t good for it to damage the paint but the risk is there. I put a hepa filter over the area where it’s sucking in air and tape it there. Doesn’t slow down the air coming out what so ever

      I just got mine. Unscrewed the housing and put an air conditioner particulate filter glued inside. I'll be very surprised if it doesn't slow down airflow a lot. How can it not?

    Or a couple of drying microfiber towels...which by the way is the only step I like to take some time. It allows me to evaluate my cleaning job.

      Agreed but key differences are you run risk of scratching or maring the paint with the MF.

    Scott, since you like ease and portability did you not consider the Portable blower that Worxs makes 56 volts, sure its a bit more but its portable and almost puts out 100 CFM less only at 465.

    Hey Scott,
    First time viewing your videos. Great tips for the begginer/weekend warrior !!! My question, what is the best car wash detergent/soap to use ?? So many options, going nuts, trying to figure out what car wash soap to use 🤯🤯🤯

    • @Hallowsaw
      @Hallowsaw 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I use rain x car wash and chemical guys citrus. My reason is the citrus gets rid of everything meaning it is a very good cleaner; however, by itself it creates waterspots if you do not dry your car quickly. So i add rain x car wash to it do give it some water repelling properties so water does not settle on the paint. I combine that in a foam cannon electric powerwasher and i hardly even have to touch the paint on my car. That takes away chances of scratches and less time to dry

    I have a question as you quickly go around with the leaf blower and blow off the majority of the surface water can you then use a microfiber cloth to take the little bits left or should you not do that?

    Great product for drying car. Used it on my M6 competition GC in prep for Bimmerfest. MUCH BETTER & LESS EXPENSIVE than the "metro vac" type products.

    I use a Toro super blower. The discharge is rated at 225 mph/385 cfm. It's not 600, but does an adequate job. The Toro might be slightly heavier. I recommend ear protection. ~$60.00

    Shop vac set up correctly can do multiple jobs. That is critical for a mobile guy. Nothing goes into my toolbox that doesn't do at least 2 jobs. My Crescent-hammer-prybar come in quite handy.

    I'm pretty low tech, and use a leaf blower to dry, compressed air for detailing.

  • @Cornballed
    @Cornballed 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I heard from detailers around my area not to use a leaf blower as it has no filter and can suck in and throw out particulates at your vehicle. Thoughts?

    • @patricks5575
      @patricks5575 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean the same particulates you drive through at 100mph? The moment you drive the car after washing it in 5 min you’ll accumulate dust and debris on the panels anyways, keep it simple!

    "I don't have wax on my car but that's another story for another day"
    I worked at a detail shop for a couple of years and come to think of it- I NEVER seen the owner wax his cars either😂

    • @lulop022882
      @lulop022882 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once knew a body shop guy who never waxed either. This guy always attended work shops hosted by 3M and learned that wax was destructive to clear coat. Before clear coat , ie single stage paint,wax was necessary. He recommend a a fine grade polish if I ever needed to add shine to my vehicle🤷‍♂️ he passed away years ago, I wonder what his opinion would be on these new types of ceramic coats?
