Thanks for this tutorial! I have a Bernina 240 and it worked just the same. Do you know what difference it makes when you thread the thread through the hole in the Bobbin? Just curious. As I was grabbing my seam ripper to open up the button hole, you said "Don't use your seam ripper." 😂
Hello Nina, thanks for your message. As I understand, it slows down the bobbin thread (increases the lower tension) which allows the buttonhole stitches to be flatter and not get gnarly. Full disclosure, I have done buttonholes without putting the thread through the finger and it worked adequately. Thanks again for watching. Constance
Hello AR, To determine the length of the hole you measure across your button and then add 1/4 inch to that length. I use a water soluble marker to then mark the button hole length. If you draw a line with two parallel stop lines (will look like a capital letter I) you’ll be able to stop at the proper place. I hope this helps!
I'm not sure. But you don't really need one. If you follow these directions and practice a little bit, you will be able to master the button hole. This machine really does make it accessible.

THANK YOU!!!
I'm so glad you found it helpful.
How do I know how long to make the buttonhole? Do I program the length into the machine? I have a 220, but it’s new to me.

So even if I found one, a button hole (the long foot where button sits Inside) won't work?
