So nice explanation about portraits photography and last tips was also good. My one question is if we are doing shoot in outdoor how we adjust softbox because in more cases we can't carry lights. Hope u understand my question Thank you sir.
Use speed light with umbrella it's easy to carry. But definitely you need one person with you to hold the light. Another option is use reflector & try to bounce sunlight but for that also you need a person.

If you have chosen 5.6 Aperture, then there will be good depth of field. So in my opinion you can focus on the eye.
