If you cant find bass, fish for bluegill. They are active in this cold weather in the northern states, like here in Illinois. Fish ultralight and observe where the bass are. If you fing bluegill, you will find bass ( bluegill is on the menu for bass especially for cold fall weather)
so you're going to just abandon bass because you don't understand their different moods? cheat with another inferior species to temporarily satisfy your needs? You don't deserve that bass!
Tyler comes in CLUTCH. Again. Ive caught 1 small Bass(a few Pickeral) on the last 3-4 weeks while fishing about 15-20 hours in that span. This COULDN'T be timed better. Thanks for the video.
I live in Idaho where I put fishing on pause for the winter. I keep engaged by tying flies, maintaining my equipment, sharpening hooks, and planning adventures for the new season. But as you said, winter is a great time to learn new stuff, which is why I'm here!
I tell you one thing I fish lake hartwell and it’s absolutely amazing in the winter, you need to come out here in the winter and try to figure it out because it can be so good on the herring lakes in the winter.
Been going pretty good for me lately in the Ozarks. Mainly on a compact spinner bait. I have a kayak tournament this weekend though, so that could possibly change. God bless.
This is a very real video. That "fall rut" is serious and I thank you for speaking on it because I definitely began questioning my skills as someone who loves fishing. I've been fishing for anything these days. Can't wait for after the "reset". Good stuff, Tyler!
Love the channel man, I used to do a lot of pond bass fishing in Florida. Now I live in North Georgia, I haven't tried bass fishing yet, but this will definitely help. I've been doing some trout fishing in the Toccoa River, I've been using a few of my own lures and a few of some popular lures that other people use, I've had more luck on my own lures. So I definitely agree, switch it up a bit. But the Dog part killed me!! I made my first TH-cam video and the dog started barking like crazy I thought it was going to literally kill me. Not trying to advertise at all :) but I laughed really hard at that part. Keep up the good work man!
thanks for the content Tyler keep killing it brotha. just put my motor away for winter as we just had our first sow far up here in Michigan! cant wait for spring hopefully i can beat my PB! until then ill be taking your advice and learning as much as i can until spring comes! until then keep slaying them for us northerners! Peace and love! tight lines!
Thanks for another great video Tyler. I've learned a lot from your videos this last year and it's definitely showed in the fish I've landed. Keep 'em coming, sir!
It's so cold and windy and the river got rain. I wanna fish so bad but can't with my kayak. Maybe Friday if I'm lucky! I have been catching some bass with bps xps crabkbaits and bps poppers up until then.
I think I'll spend my winter months buying more lures 😂. I don't hunt but the steelhead come in the fall and spring. I also like to bird. I find birds around my county and keep track of how many we see. I'm still dying to fish though. I just got my kayak 3 months ago and I got hooked on bass fishing! lol. 😂
I live in Ohio and on the cold months I hunt but I still fish but when it's tough I focus on skipping my jig, placing my lure accurately, trying different lures that I don't normally throw and just basically staying sharp with my rod and reel skills, because there is nothing worse than spring rolling around and the bite picks up but I'm out there getting backlash and missing the spots I need to put my bait because I lost my muscle memory
All so true. Last week caught 7 which is good for me. This week the weather got drastically colder and....zero bites, nothing for 6 hours. Tried everything. I thought I was pre-front but for whatever reason could get a single bite. I couldn't even find baitfish.
I recently started fishing and have been bing-watching your channel to learn how to fish (@ 75 y.o. - LOL!). Anyway, some of us so not have access to a boat or electronics and have to fish from shore or docks. Could you please create a playlist dedicated to the tricks and tips for fishing from shore without having any knowledge what is under the surface? Thanks - Ron (BTW - Great channel! Thanks for everything!)
Yep! I’ve got an entire video series called “100 ponds”, as well as any of my videos NOT filmed in a boat. If I’m in studio or sitting on a bank/park bench, those tips apply to bank fisherman as well
Only real luck this October was early in the month had some drop shot action. Then I was able to get some on top water when the sun goes down. Nothing today though, at this point I feel like it’s just how pressured the lakers I fish are. (Cali) I wish there was more bodies of water around me
In North Texas ponds I'm still getting hits and catching bass on hybrid hunter smooth color... running on bank and working 180 from where I fish on bank... often getting first hook up! So yeah I'm still throwing it lol.
Funny, our bass fishing season in South Florida is best from Nov-Apr. Our summer is too hot for the bass and is like your winter especially from June-September 🤣
Lately I feel like I've only had success with Crawfish soft baits and now I know why. I don't see many people using them when I'm out, so it's something the fish aren't as used to it.
I don't know if it is already mentioned, but I click the Aftco link to purchase your NFNT merchandise, but I can't find any of it on their website. Am I looking in the wrong areas? Thanks Tyler.
Thanks for the straight forward video. I hear all this bs about how this is when the giants come out. They must be mythical creatures out here in nc cuz I ain’t catching shiiiiit
In canada here, fishing a pond. the wind is not my friend, cause it cools the water down, and fish all went to the part where the wind couldnt get to, cause that's wamer. I noticed all the bait fish are gone from the spot I usually fish. I walked around the pond and found them at the side of the trees, and the treees blocked the wind.
Okay, so i just finally caught my second bass in the last two weeks on a frog like 30 minutes ago. Its only my second ever fish on a frog so im quite inexperienced. Point is, it took me 2-3 minutes and a cut up hand to get the hooks out. Whats the best way to remove frog hooks from deep within?
just go out there and cast your line you will not catch anything in your living room..... that is why they call it "Fishing" ...not "Catching".....good luck & as always Tight Lines my friends!!
Because most of their bodies of water, even public ones, are easier fishing than anywhere else in the country. Their climate also causes fish to really feed up before winter, so a fall bite can actually be really consistently good, where everywhere else in the country it can be really tough. That’s what I’ve noticed after traveling and fishing lots of different places throughout every season.
The fall run, leads to the winter grind which leads me to throwing all my gear in a lake. Can I do a giveaway on your Channel ...... seriously. This year has been the worst the absolute worst
A tip for fall and cold weather: where in the gospel of Bass does it say that you MUST use a baitcaster? C ´mon fellow anglers. Its OK to use spinning reel-rod set up. You dont have to worry about birdnesting.
We're giving fish too much credit. They have tiny brains that are completely instinct driven. The only complexity in fish behavior is what we project onto them.
True, but there’s less comparison there. Still better than no fishing, but unless you’re hole hopping and following topo, I’m not sure if ice fishing is making you better open water angler
Learned a lot from this video, just like in almost every video. Love your videos Tyler and God loves you forever and always.
One good tip that I heard you mention for fishin in the fall is that you should go very small or big. That's one that I've seen work for me
If you cant find bass, fish for bluegill. They are active in this cold weather in the northern states, like here in Illinois. Fish ultralight and observe where the bass are. If you fing bluegill, you will find bass ( bluegill is on the menu for bass especially for cold fall weather)
Nah screw the Bluegill, Imma break out my Crappie gear they bouta start munching hard once the remnants of this storm clears up
A big bluegill are just as fun to catch as a big crappie and they taste just as good too
@@Gstar5150fall crappie can be so fun. Find a loaded tree somewhere and it’s lights out for em.
@@Retrosmack we just don't have that many big ones where I live they like to come out in may-june. But I do know we have some 20 plus inch Crappie.

same.. its been tough
As a new bass angler I have finally started to figure it out. I was able to catch 3 bass this past weekend in a underspin as well as on a wacky rig
Awesome!!
So much truth 😅 2:32

That’s awesome you know Nolan ! My very good friend Garrett Thompson I grew up with was on the WVU fishing team with him ! Such a small world!
Both great guys!

That's such a GREAT educational video!!! Thanks!!!
Glad it was helpful!
So glad you made this video
I'm glad you watched!

I recently did some trout fishing in Missouri, dude I loved it!
And I was rocking the
NFNT Reaper! Yuhh!!!
I needed to hear everything in this video. Thanks, Tyler!
I'm in New York and I did pretty well in October, I even threw topwater almost exclusively! Just wanted to share
Yep! Thats why yall are an exception. You can have excellent fall bites
Around this time of year, a strike king rocket shad might work well slowrolled
thanks for the content Tyler keep killing it brotha. just put my motor away for winter as we just had our first sow far up here in Michigan! cant wait for spring hopefully i can beat my PB! until then ill be taking your advice and learning as much as i can until spring comes! until then keep slaying them for us northerners! Some of the most relatable bass videos out there, thanks my guy!
I appreciate that!

Keep trying! Fall can be wickedly confusing
You can also just switch up species 🙂trout and perch and walleye still bite ok in the cold
Yep!
A good winter break for the anglers and the fish is a good time for us all to improve on our game.
Exactly
What types of things are you doing in the offseason to sharpen up for the next on season?
Organizing tackle and gear, replacing or getting new gear,as well as researching and locating new fisheries
What could I use for fall Night fishing in th East?

It will only stop working for about 1 month. That bait is awesome
It’s been cloudy, cold, and windy in texas the past few days. The bite is definitely tough.
Me too, even up in Ct
Lord it wasn't in Roundtop a couple weeks ago. We were in town from NC and were not prepared for 100 degrees at the end of Oct...
Funny, our bass fishing season in South Florida is best from Nov-Apr. Our summer is too hot for the bass and is like your winter especially from June-September 🤣
Florida, especially south Florida, is an anomaly. None of our seasonal videos apply to you 😂

You should try a lure called hs vibra or we indonesian call it sirip hiu(sharkfin)
We had no fall here, just went straight to winter 🥶
Sometimes that happens!
The Australian Bass that I fish for also don’t like sudden and rapid changes.
It's because I'm stuck in the office and the Columbia is 60 yards -> that way.

Pliers
Yup. Long nose pliers or a hook remover. Congrats on the frog catch, though!
@JBob08 thanks for the help
Why is Skeeter's wiring so shitty? My 2022s FXR's wiring is horrible.
Australian Bass behave very similar to conditions like these.
How to not get skunked during the fall?
- Catch a bluegill it's fun and makes you happy :)
Waters dropped 35ft in our lake so low you can walk around the bridge pillars on each end
That happens! Take note of structure now!
Same here the nights got cold and the fished stoped biting
They will still bite, just not on the same stuff
I've seen a ton of bass but they won't eat anything I throw at them what do I do?
You’re still seeing them in the water, even at this time of year? (In North America)?
Because I am not out there. 😂
Haha true
just go out there and cast your line you will not catch anything in your living room.....

Football jig time

...... seriously. This year has been the worst the absolute worst
You’ll get em next year pal!
I'm most likely not catching any fish right now because I haven't been fishing.
That’ll do it
Why I’m not catching fish
My lake is frozen
Already?? Dang!
A tip for fall and cold weather: where in the gospel of Bass does it say that you MUST use a baitcaster? C ´mon fellow anglers. Its OK to use spinning reel-rod set up. You dont have to worry about birdnesting.
Never said you have to! As a matter of fact, I use mostly spinning stuff all winter
We're giving fish too much credit. They have tiny brains that are completely instinct driven. The only complexity in fish behavior is what we project onto them.
Because you’re not in Florida
Hola
Pro tip, you can't catch fish when not in the water!
Exactly
"fall what a great time to fish!"
Hey man just curious are you reformed? @Tylersreelfishing
I placed my faith in Jesus and believe in the Bible being infallible. Not sure what “denomination” that places me haha. I’m just a Christian
@@TylersReelFishing Sounds good brother awesome!
