    For years I have followed Steve Bigalow with his 3EMA, 8EMA and 34EMA. Finally making money instead of breaking even.

    This is what I've been doing as of the last week and it has CHANGED my results. I ONLY take trades in which I have the 7,50,100 emas on my side, the MACD and RSI or CCI create confluence, and a break of a recent strong line or pattern.. I NEVER trade in, ONLY place trades at levels that will fit those criteria and let the market PULL us in..tight stop cuz I DONT want to be in anything that is not ready to RUN! DONE DEAL! THANK you for this.

    I used to use 20sma and 50sma and then realized that the masons with unlimited money like 33 and that 20 and 50 are just free approximations of the 33sma. In fact 33 is nearly halfway in between. Think about it.

    Moving average cross over the system can filter out a lot of the noise in a chart and give signals with better odds of a true trend emerging than moving average alone but the SQB-AMAC strategy is way more profitable than moving average crossovers.

    Great lesson Barry! So what if the retrace comes all way back to the 50sma? In test trading some of my biggest winners gave been from buying or selling off the 50sma! Would you consider that too deep of a retrace to take?

    • @TopDogTrading
      @TopDogTrading  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Scott and good question. On a simple retrace, it would be too deep of a retrace. However it's a complex retrace and good back to the 50 SMA then I will still take the trade if everything else aligns.

    • @TopDogTrading
      @TopDogTrading  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no "magic" moving averages, but try it and if you like it, then use it, if not, stick with what you're already using if it's making you money.

    • @wingnut4217
      @wingnut4217 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's always about the bottom line,"magic" shows are for Vegas. I try to evaluate different combinations on a chart no more than three.Whatever you use must pass a sim trading test of at least /5-100 trades to have some tradable value if it works archive it if it doesnt the trash heap.

    I “sold that high” the other day that reduced my account even further. Sometimes I think it’s better if I bought that high or sold that low, it would be much better.
    You hold that for many reasons:
    1. You realise you made a mistake but you want to recover money to b/e. At least this last time and then I swear never do that mistake again.
    2. You do it of fear that the moment you are out, it will turn your way.
    3. Hope, that was the top finally and now it will turn and you calculate how much points you need to make b/e. It increases with every pull back
    4. You are already scared to flip the direction because you prayed for that short so long that the other direction seems impossible. Also you see no point in flipping direction as you realise the gains of it may be low and not cover the loss. So you decide: it’s better be short that will take care of the loss now. It’s better be, otherwise I’m in big sh.t and keep hoping.
    5. You get to the point of don’t care any more and rage: take all my money bast...ds and it goes more
    6. You start thinking it will not carry on forever I need to do something. You accept that you are going to lose finally but cannot close.
    The agony continues to the point when you take a courage and regret and press that bloody button.
    You feel a relief and emptiness. Emotions stopped like the river dried out. Yes you feel bitter but you are on the way to recovery. You can get philosophical and even brave thinking of borrowing money. But you realise what you’ve done in a couple of days. No money borrowing please.

    • @TopDogTrading

      It would take more to explain in that in a brief TH-cam comment - but one distinction I can give you is that I use the 15 ema to measure strength of simple retraces, but not complex retraces.

    How can a trader stay out of trouble when the market seems to move but in reality is ranging with wide swings and triggering stop losses.This happens a lot in the forex market. What should I do when the ema's contradict each other on different timeframes? The 15 may be above the 50 ema on the 4hr chart but on the 1 hour it's the opposite. Wich one is valid in then?

    • @TopDogTrading
      @TopDogTrading  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. That's exactly what the 15 ema helps me to determine so I know what type of market condition is happening at the moment. Different techniques are used for different types of market conditions.

      Money is a symbol of value. When the market does down after you buy, you only have the "value" left that the market assigns to the position, whether you cash out or not. There can be distinctions on how it's looked at from accounting and taxing perspectives, but from my way of thinking, that money is lost at that snapshot in time.

    Does the 20 ema and 180 sma work?.

    • @TopDogTrading
      @TopDogTrading  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried that combo. I know some very good traders who use the 200 SMA for trend, but that's just way to slow for my personal liking.

    why owuld u use 15 and 50? 13 and 200ema is so much better, 200 ema is always the one that acts as support and resistance, 50 always gets broken

    • @TopDogTrading
      @TopDogTrading  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't found that any of them moving averages "always" act as support/resistance or "always" broken. The key is to watch the energy of price action as it goes into ANY potential support/resistance levels.

    Notice where the price action rises to the MA twice in close proximity? That is a double failure and it is almost a certainty the trend will collapse into an even stronger trend past that second failure...produced 7 red bars without a single green bar.

    Hi Barry, I love your videos. I'm new to trading and find the TA and charts fascinating--it almost feels as if it si the pulse of the market. As I listen to your video one question bugs me--for instance in this one...how do you figure that a trend is a trend and not a correction--I mean how do we now how long the trend will last? I'm trying to apply your principles to bitcoin trading (also a new for me) but as I look at the bitcoin highs and lows (it's been moving sideways on what I think is a downward trend) how can tell if the trend is about to change or if it's just going to go up a bit and then come back down? You mentioned the five wave--is this how you test it? Anyway, I have requested your cycle chart and am keen to see what this is. Thanks! Emma

      Hi Emma. Great question! It's a bit more involved of an answer than I can explain in a TH-cam comment, but if you attend my Cycle Indicator Webinar, I'll be explaining the objective rules for how I measure trend. Hope to see you there.

      There's one golden rule that you should always keep in mind and observe when you're investing:
      Never invest money that you can't afford to lose. Your first goal should always be to avoid major losses. Don't get greedy. Be patient. Seek the advice of qualified well-regarded investors. Keep your costs low. This recipe may not seem very exciting, but it's been proven to work
      for generations again and again. My advice to you guys is to ask yourself this question before risking your hard earned money what would happen if i lost my trading account ? if the loss will put you in troubles, and affect your life and the life of people around you. work with a good strategy like *Blended Model Strategy* and keep moving forward each time when it comes to having a trading plan to take profit from the market daily fortune.

    Hey I gotta ask you something, you might have a vid or make one about this so let me know if you do... but about stock going up if people buy and down if they sell. If I sell my stock someone else buys it from me right? So wouldn't a sale be also a buy? Like wouldn't it cancel eachother out? I assume reading the graphs is like trying to get into people's head, like you are looking at a graph and from what's happening you are trying to figure out what people are going to do next so you can react properly

    • @lucianosilipo5024

      as in what state do i live in? why?

    • @TopDogTrading
      @TopDogTrading  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good beginners question. It has to do with what price people are willing to buy/sell at. Basic supply and demand. If there are more buyers than sellers, then there aren't enough sellers to match the buyers orders, so motivated buyers start bidding up the price to make it more attractive for the sellers to sell to them, and then a transaction can take place. Hope that helps.

    • @lucianosilipo5024
      @lucianosilipo5024 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TopDogTrading ya that makes sense, but for people to be motivated to buy at a higher price they must see something in that company. I understand if dividends are good and what not but I don't understand what you get if a stock is worth 5 bucks and you get nothing out of it besides hoping it goes up a few cents and selling for a profit. It sounds great but isn't that risky buying a bunch of stock and hoping price goes up instead of down? I think my question is more in the day trading category... if this is too much we can continue over email if you want

  • @waltermorris5786

    Ah, a continuation gap is a midway gap. Its wonderful if one occurs cause it is fairly predictive where the trend will end. Is it a self fulfilling prophesy..perhaps but who cares.

    • @TopDogTrading
      @TopDogTrading  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly - it doesn't matter if it's a "self-fulfilling prophecy."
