The thing that truly makes cs1.6 better than cs2 is that, imo, it's just more fun to play without burdens, while in cs2 you literally have to concentrate all your shits for better ranks and shits. Sure there is 'casual' mode for cs2 for sure, but starting with 1000$ and full armour? pfft
Cs 1.6 is equal to cs2 imo In 1.6 i always find skilled middle aged men who probably spent most of thier time only playing it I always buy a weapon and go on the round untill the ammo runs out quickly because i forget to buy ammo with it
Other games are also like that and they're just as good so i don't see it as a big deal even to it's time But you're right the only famous maps are dust 2 and nuke who don't make all that sense compared to these ones
man.... I remember watching those "CS in real life" or those CS stickman videos in 240p just to hype myself in playing this game. The amount of maps that this game had were insanely good and memorable (and that's not including the custom maps the community had made). Thank you br0leg for playing these games. Really brings back the nostalgic fun I had with this one :')
Yo thanks for including my zombie mode server in your video! I greatly appreciate it and it means a lot! The streams were really fun and the game was very enjoyable. Haven't felt this nostalgic feeling in CS 1.6 in quite some time too! Keep up the amazing content!

If I had to compare CS2 to 1.6 and Source, it's like comparing a large city to a small town. In CS2, there are many different people and communities living different parts of the same city and each have a part in influencing which direction the city grows and develops and getting in each other's way, with all the drama and scandals and controversy with having so many people living together. The hustle culture is real, and if you aren't with a group, you're against them, and everyone's looking to prove themselves. Meanwhile, in 1.6 and Source, these are isolated communities insulated from the developments from the rest of the worlds, like some kind of giant time capsules. In the past, the communities were thriving, tens and hundreds of thousands living in it, but that time is long gone, and many of it's former inhabitants have moved elsewhere. Regardless, those that stayed behind are united under their shared love for the town. Just the simple fact that someone is willing to pay them a visit is more than enough for them, and the only thing this town has to prove is their dedication to the town, and those withing the community. This can be applied to gaming as a whole, as time moves forwards and new games comes out, what was once some of the biggest games now resides quietly in it's own isolated part of the world as The City deemed them irrelevant and left them behind. Heck, this probably applies to Culture as a whole, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. My point is, things change, and people leave or get left behind as a results. These people, whom The City has "abandoned", so to say, seeks others like themselves in order to preserve what's left of their town, their culture, their heritage. Like for me, I feel the same way to Killing Floor as Br0leg does to CS. KF2, good game, it's fun, but it's missing that something that made KF1 a great game, despite KF2's many improvements over KF1. And this is fine, mind you, I'm not trying to twist the narrative to say games shouldn't evolve or learn from the past or The City should stop moving or whatever, both Developers and Players should be allowed to chose what they want. What I want to say is that, it's important to recognize when the times has passed you by. To realize what you have now isn't the same thing that made you fall in love with the game in the first place, and to accept that and move on instead of chasing after phantoms of the past. The sooner you can accept that, the sooner you can preserve that media and share it with others. Something like that, at least.
2:02 & 4:27 : hey it me! I may be late to the party, but I'm glad to be a part of the great games we've had that day! missed opportunity to bring up the oilrig footage. you guys gathering up together on the elevator was also peak. LMAO
I will say, I remember most CS Source myself. But at some point I grew disinterest when it comes to playing with random so I stopped. When it comes to CS 1.6 I always had issue feeling the weapons. In comparison to source they all felt less accurate to me and I never got a grip of how to play it. Probably because of the most time I had chance to try it was when visiting my friend who played it without sounds and alt+tab'ing to play chess online between lives and well, it like sending your average machete football hooligan to the Medieval tournament. I think myself I remember most certain Russian sounding Zombie-escape server that used random characters from Zombie games, with supposedly disabled mics. (I had odd sympathy towards Russian sounding servers, they were oddly chill or I was great at ignoring chat, non Russian servers with Russian players had no such quality.) The most I remember the map where you start on the beach landing, run towards the base, that is full dark and through out you try to get to the Stargate to win the game, while trying to not be one tapped with zombie-knife. I say my biggest enemy in enjoying CS games was me, not best dealing with some people.
CS 1.6, to this day, is still in my top 3 for the most tense tactical shooters, alongside the original Insurgency. The dead silence of being the only one alive on your team is genuinely terrifying, especially paired with this games atmosphere.
CS was my first ever multiplayer game not counting splitscreen. My dad took me with him when he went to computer cafe to play 1.3 with his friends via LAN because there was no wide internet access in our area yet. I was 4 years old. I remember we were playing cs_italy, cs_assault, de_cbble and cs_militia. My favorite part was to shoot chickens on cs_italy. I liked HL DM much more tho.
you’re so real man i get the exact feeling with CSS and Battlefield 2 that you get with 1.6. There’s just something with older games, not just nostalgia
I still play 1.6 regularly in a brazilian server, its all vanilla and we actually have a culture of hating dust2, and I agree on your point about the maps, its always a joy when the admins load up de_airstrip
cs_rio is a clasic. The Brazilian community is an important part of CS 1.6 history due to the very active community back then, all thanks to cyber cafes!
1.6 will forever be the GOAT to me. I remember as a kid spending nonstop hours playing this game; even in the zombie infection servers back when they used a mix of official maps and community made ones. You try to go on them now and its an eye sore with the skins and particle effects and the admins are just flying around being impossible to kill.
Man I agree, CS2 maps imo feel like reskinned Dust map but in CS1.6 has that fun meter chart over 100 maps, I personally liked that maps that has giant furnitures I remember Playing on those maps and having to bring Counter team NPCs out of their freezer manually since they know how to move and where exit points are, but are too dumb to operate doors and I would have to sit and open doors for Them to exit and if I play as terrorists the NPCs would literally just stack at doors to try and enter but still couldn't operate doors
an spiritual sucessor of the old 1.6 feel is definely intruder, its a niche tactical game with a small community that is not yet taken that seriously in which has modern twists but very similar to classic 1.6 , i greatly recommend it, its community is funny as hell.
I hope if anything, CS2 brings back being able to pick from default CT and T skins, instead of being forced to be the same guys Edit: I also hope after watching this video and reading some comments, CS2 gets some kind of queue you can get matches that aren’t exactly balanced. Like matches set on dark maps where each side can buy NVGs, flares, or flashlights, matches with limited respawns per round, matches with custom weapons, etc.
there is some leaks that suggest they gonna add full character customization like in pubg, valve just doesn't understand what to do with cs, they just add stuff that nobody want
If someone wants to play a classic server with randoms, i reccomend one calles Extra Classic. There's over 500 de_ maps and no cosmetic mods (although there are knife kill sound effects which you can turn off). Just google the IP. Be nice with the local Russians if you come to play. Beware: it's NOT gonna be like in the video, its much sweatier and meatier
the creator of the server is a maniac about cs maps. he found over 500 cs maps, fixed all of them (INCLUDING: adding missing A and B marks on all plants, balancing sounds that are too loud, etc.) turned all cs_ maps to de_ maps, and made 2x2 barriers for each and every one for when there is not a lot of people on. he's been going at it for months
1.6 was the shit back in the day literally just boot up the game and youre in a server instead of waiting for a queue for 10 minutes then immediately lose by cheaters using 39 dollar hacks
One thing I love about 1.6 is the gun sounds. I know CSGO changed them to be more realistic but that just made them all sound relatively the same while 1.6 all guns have a distinct sound that gave them some heft. Like the classic barking of the AK-47.
Mate, Cs 1.6 are truly nostalgic when I was a kid, playing server with a bunch of player. When you need a skin for a gun, you can download a mod without spending money unlike cs2. Not only playing casual game, there's like a story mode called "CS deleted scene", which is good and you guys should try that.
CS 1.6 servers only being overly modded shit and using only popular maps reminds me of my problem with Call of Duty 4 servers aswell (I was even banned without question by a mod on a server for asking why this server is like this with the reason "Then play somewhere else"). I remember back in the Xfire days when there were perfectly vanilla servers, some fun modded servers (I especially loved deathrun) and stuff, but now, as you said, it really feels like they're trying to tune these servers for people who just don't wanna bother paying for the current version of these franchises rather than for those who actually want to re-experience the peak that was the old experience. It's fucking sad what even old games are being morphed to.
Back when every map had some kind of gimmick in it and meant to be fun. But esport forced everything to revert into the same 3-4 corridors towards A and B
I miss the era when people (rightfully so) saw a tactical but still very much arcade game with believable grounded visuals as the way to go. Counter-Strike, Call of Duty and Battlefield all used to fit that back in the game. It was so easy to get immersed. Nowadays every franchise seems to either go full-Fortnite or full-Arma. Why is there no middle road anymore? I'm so tired of the robots, clowns, rappers, zombies and superheroes running around in what's supposed to be a major war.
CS1.3 was my childhood. CS1.6 with the AMX scripting plugin became my personal fave. Being able to add gameplay changing scripts in the game is just great. Turned my copy into a very specific Counter-Strike that I want to play. Speaking of the game itself, classic CS MP5, Sig552, and Glock are my most favorite videogame iteration of those guns...Just like Allied Assault Kar98, or MW2(2009) Scar.
CS:GO is my favorite counterstrike. when I first got the game, back when it cost 20 bucks to buy, my first match was casual on Office. I got my ass handed to me, but a dude on T side spammed only moon man for the entire game. I got to hear the most vile and offensive racist shit at the time and LOVED it. It was a great first impression, and got me hooked into finding community servers, where I spent a lot of my time on bhop and zombie escape.
I remember playing as_ maps on some server like year ago. Man that mod was mega fun playing with real people, too bad many of them don't know what is the objective. After map or two it got super fun even escaping as VIP myself. That server promotes obscure cs_ and de_ maps and map cycle never gets stale and boring
The maps is by far my biggest complain with CS2. They feel so ''perfect'' they don't feel like real places, and there's some many design tropes meant to balance it for competitive play, you can't help but lose any sense of immersion due to the extremely competitive nature of the maps.
Man I love 1.6. Funny thing is that I’m in a Computing class so during lessons most of the boys in my class would log onto 1.6 for some fun and shittalk. Good fun!

OMG, it's Br0leg!!! Boy have I missed you so much, this video just made my day, I wish I knew about this event I would've joined. Anyways I really missed your content and the video quality is so peak
Man i used to play 1.6 alot in my 64kb capped internet usb modem. I played from pub servers to zombie mode. Zombie mode captures my attention the most cuz it had different gameplay and even fully custom weapons added on the server-side
Assault is forever my favourite map. No balance whatsoever, every weapon is viable as both very short and very long ranges exist. Many ways to go about the entry/defence.
For me CS 1.6 has his own charm, which make it so lovable and enjoyable. (Basically it's childhood, duh.), playing it with your friends in the school computers. But my love for CS stops on CS2, it's just...nah, it's lost everything that CS 1.6 had. But that's doesn't stop other peoples loving CS2. But, for me - CS 1.6 is masterpiece, and remains it. (I never played CS Condition Zero, but played the Deleted Scenes version, loved it.)
CSCZ is arguably better. It has more maps and features. The only reason its not as loved as CS 1.6 is become it came out about the same time as Source, so majority of players overlooked it and jumped straight to source instead.
Im unsure what cs is my favorite, i do like to ride a middle line between silly go lucky and Taking it seriously and strategizing. Both are fun in their own way but can clash if not figured out. With that im going to say csgo is my favorite due to the variety ontop of depth of strategy focused on in the design. Its more deliberate compared to the games before it but doesn't ride completely into sweatvile like cs2
Молодость, те года когда приходя со школы, или шараги можно было отдохнуть за контрой, а у тех кого компа не было, ходили в клубы, где даже иногда соревновались пацаны за деньги.. было же время..
i used to play cs 1.6 on the browser when i was a kid and i remember the hotkey for closing the browser was ctrl+w which meant that i couldnt crouchmove forward as it would close the game which i forgot like 2 times each session i played.
Oh man the 1.6 So many good memories.. The screechers, the cheaters, the actually good players playing in what you could consider a kiddie pool smacking everyone around, the feeling of actually killing the said guy with some luck, the parents haunting you for not doing homework... No game will ever come close to same feeling of excitement of getting hyped up with your classmates and rushing back home to play some 1.6 and then bragging around how you got em the next day This just makes me sad thinking that ill never experience that same magic again.. Probably the best CS by far due to how "raw" it is, never liked Source even if it was a bit more polished Lets not forget the poor CSCZ that was put into such a weird spot, the only CS game with actual campaign quickly overshadowed by Source in popularity I cant even stomach any CS past Source, CSGO is just a pig with a lipstick same as CS2

cs2 casual lacks those often charming but mostly unfair maps from 1.6
Func_vehicle...
Plus in CS 2 casual people play like it's competitive, sweating and tryharding
(3:27) I also loved maps that act like actual place , felt a lot more alive. Too bad servers with actual players don't use them that much.

After so many years it's still as fun as usual
Thank you mister broleg
I am spending christmas alone so this is certainly a nice gift
CS1 On Xbox is great. Need to get back into it
Playing versus bots as kid is real
christmas is great, what an amazing day to be alive
I need to not miss the next classic cs event. I wanted to play some clean cs matches, with no darn mods.
Condition Zero my beloved
Man I got a new phone today and this is the first video I see, I hope you make more awesome videos
Floppy Disk Mod feels different in CS 1.6
A nice gift before an equally nice stream that will happen today
Guess we all have been good people this year
At this point add functional hitreg to the things that cs 1.6 have that CS2 doesn't
The best way to end off the year (Oleg playing Counter Strike)
Baby wake up Br0leg uploaded a new video
whoa rizzmass upload???
Survivor also a favorite map from Br0leg Hell yeah sir.
I play cs:cz and I never knew cs 1.6 was even better back then.
I love 1.6, I just wish there were more normal vanilla servers to play on :(
omaigad is this conter strikke
You should try sven coop Br0leg
Even on phone i still play Cs1.6 (Cs1.6 client)
Do more CS videos with tautmars, I still re-watch it almost every month
3:08 i also had those exact maps as favorites
Amaaazing video bro
i used to play cs 1.6 on the browser when i was a kid and i remember the hotkey for closing the browser was ctrl+w which meant that i couldnt crouchmove forward as it would close the game which i forgot like 2 times each session i played.
9:20 the phalanx
I loved CSGO back when the workshop wasn't a gigantic pain in the ass to use. A lot of really cool maps and gamemodes were dusted once CS 2 erased it.
Oh man the 1.6
So many good memories..
The screechers, the cheaters, the actually good players playing in what you could consider a kiddie pool smacking everyone around, the feeling of actually killing the said guy with some luck, the parents haunting you for not doing homework...
No game will ever come close to same feeling of excitement of getting hyped up with your classmates and rushing back home to play some 1.6 and then bragging around how you got em the next day
This just makes me sad thinking that ill never experience that same magic again..
Probably the best CS by far due to how "raw" it is, never liked Source even if it was a bit more polished
Lets not forget the poor CSCZ that was put into such a weird spot, the only CS game with actual campaign quickly overshadowed by Source in popularity
I cant even stomach any CS past Source, CSGO is just a pig with a lipstick same as CS2
CS 1.6 is peak gaming even to this day. It's just that good!
still can't tell which is A and B site on train.
Seeing Hans with the shield gave hardcore Rainbow Six vibes.
I've never been good at CS, yet I must have Argetinean blood to love 1.6.
Apaga cono
You should check out mods for Half Life like firearms and that dod like vietnam mod
It’s a Christmas miracle!
Why did you play cs1.6 with condition zero player models
1.6, peak nostalgia of source games.
It's not even source
@ please stop being a Redditor en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoldSrc
@@079s.c.p8 you have a wrong idea on internet slangs and labels
You showed me a wikipedia *link* like a redditor then called me a redditor ?
Bro i'm a ☝🤓 not a redditor
Only now, I realize the only reason I don't like CS 1.6 as much as CSS is because there's no ragdolls.
Quite literally just that.
