Make sure you read reviews and not just buy based off a youtubers video. RIddled with bugs, missing features, not ready to be released... Careful on this one
What I loved playing and replaying this mission was the scence of desperation I felt trying to handle the defense, brilliant by the game designers. This game makes you want to try again and get better. I really hope you continue with this game.
I love how you can see they tried to get the number of people in a specific unit correct. A lot of games you’ll have a squad with 6 guys but in reality a squad is roughly 12 guys and a platoon in roughly 40 guys. I think this is also based on the story we were soldiers.
Heavy IFV like bradley i think only 8 soldier per squad and 2 always stays on the bradley that gives you only 6 riflemen on the ground. But if it is country that use human wave doctrine like china one squad is one truck meaning 20-25 riflemen per squad lol
I don't know what the infantry platoon and squad consisted of exactly during Vietnam. But right now the US Army rifle squad consists of 9 Soldiers. not 12
I like the logistical and management part of the game. Would like to see that in a WWII game, where we are able to set up and HQ; upgrade units, unlock support and manage ammo etc.
@@animelovers000 Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is perfect for those that want a lot of managing things without the old school base building style from CNC games.
This game literally teaches you command skills. Like learning your troops don't always do what you want.. And having to deal with the consequences! Very well thought out game.
One of the first missions in this game is the historical Vietnam battle la Drang. A platoon chased after a couple of VA soldiers and were isolated and surrounded for a large portion of the battle. This is the battle that the movie We Were Soldiers starring Mel Gibson portrayed in 2002. Interestingly enough, while LTC Moore was able to hold off the VA regiment here in this battle the ensuing battle the next day involving the 2nd Battalion was a loss for the US Army.
God that mission WAS BRUTAL!! They just kept coming, and dying, and coming, and dying and after I dropped all the Napalm and HE in SE Asia.. they kept coming, and dying. Definitely have a new appreciation for what those men went thru that week, unbelievable. PS - You could have purchased air strikes all throughout that mission - Yellow just means more expensive, missions impossible without them.
Really enjoying this game as it offers something so different, as you said in the video things like managing the wounded and challenging missions. Cool video also thanks.
Reminds me of Ground Control 2 just the camera views. Being abble to zoom right up to your tank or your guy. Ground Control 2 was one of the best RTS/ STORY ever.
You need to manually add the rest of the troops to the unit for a full platoon plus you can add a gunship aircraft as well as making every platoon bigger
I miss RTS games like this, i just bought the whole package after seeing 30 seconds of gameplay! I used to play my fair share of C&C Generals and Zero Hour back in the day, i wish they continued with that franchise. Most RTS games these days are kinda weird.. Edit: Bro i bought Wargame: Red Dragon, the entire pack. I just found out this is the game "Leave no one behind". 😂
I legit just bought this game days ago because not from you unfortunately Raptor but from a friend of mine and my god this game has real good potential
Is the first mission inspired by the movie "we were soldiers" ?? seems like it with the deserter getting captured and telling about the regiment of vc...cool
Actually this is quite accurate... 1965 lz x Ray did capture a deserter who mentioned a battalion size force waiting to kill americans , and they were going to let em walk right in on them so america couldnt use air support , 2 close 2 friedly
Cool gameplay and strategy, doesn't seem difficult enough though. It could use a dozen or so more zerg rushes, for balance. 1k more kills or so and you had it. Thanks Raptor. Seriously, the odds were not slated in your favor. Don't see how to defend against the waves upon waves.
You had a lot of those points, over 25k almost at some point. I might be mistaken by from the ui, but it seemed as if you could have used them for some type of extra support?
So is this based off the "We Were Soldiers" movie? Based on the real events that happened. I've seen a video detailing that actual battle and it was damn brutal man....
U need to watch the movie 'We were soldiers'. Its a movie about the first battle of the Vietnam War: La Drang Valley. This game is based on it as well and watching you play it is like watching the movie again
Have you watched the film we were soldiers actual true story Vietnam war what you played there actually happened amount of artillery and air support that you put down they were shouting broken Arrow That was a callsign for every plane artillery helicopters in that area to help them out , and there was a squad that ran into the jungle after the enemy and got cut off from the rest of the platoon and there was only three I think survived from that missing squad. One of my best war films ever we were soldiers.
The game would probably benefit (and be more realistic) if the player could call "Broken Arrow" and have every orbiting aircraft in Vietnam drop ordinance automatically on a location giving the player time to call in artillery on other locations needing assistance. Similar to what happened at Ia Drang during the heat of the battle.
FINALLY someone who knows its Ia Drang as in EYE Drang. The amount of comments where people are say La Drang as if it's freakin French or something 🤣🤣🤣
When you hit space bar it slows time and you have enough time to call in support. Also 2nd upgrade in arty tech tree let's you click and it auto types grid
NATO employed the 5.56 mm and 7.62mm ammunition while PACT countries used 7.62 rounds. it wasn't until the 1980's that the 5.56 became the standard for NATO. another interesting thing was when it first came out the M-16 rifle jammed a lot if sand or dirt got into it where as the AK-47 which was standard fare for most PACT countries was a pretty forgiving weapon.
it's kinf of chubby and plump... I like Mi-24 Hind more: it's also plump but has sort of a insect looking silhouette and the weapon systems look sort of menacing.

Also no save feature.
Damn thing only works on first mission..after that nothing
Just develop like COH, why recreate the wheel

This mission is 100% the Battle of Ia Drang (We Were Soldiers). The date at the beginning of the mission lines up, as does the tactical scenario.
I don't know what the infantry platoon and squad consisted of exactly during Vietnam. But right now the US Army rifle squad consists of 9 Soldiers. not 12
@@thekingsguard8874 I was talking about back then.
I think whoever made this had a little inspiration from we were soldiers once
Defending the Knoll? Lost Platoon? The dry creek bed? Nahhhh LOL
Or, the actual events of La Drang.... Considering the game is called Leave no man behind: La Drang.....
@@mike2455 down to finding a deserter to the aa cannon on the mountain top so a runaway squad LOL
That creek bed is vital…. VITAL!
@@cineris2389 the hell is "La Drang"? Do you mean Ia Drang? Pronounce Eye Drang?

This guy must be in his 20th not to know this battle was for we were Soldiers. Good move cool game mission
Nice try bud. The us absolutely destroyed north Vietnam during the war. Us military never actually lost a battle in Vietnam guy
About 5:50 Into the video I started to feel like the mission was Mel Gibson’s we were soldiers. 😂

This games sucks as the NVA has unlimited resources, i must have killed 500,000 and they just keep coming. I want a refund.
A1 Sky Raider. The A10 predecessor. Lingers long time, lots of bombs, and cannons.

Wanted to see you complete this mission so badly, hope in next video we do better, 1 bad ass game 👍
That was perhaps the most precise and satisfactory airstrike I have EVER seen.
I’d love to see this as a full series!
to answer your question raptor, the plane at the beginning is the Douglas A-1 Skyraider
You can put your units on the knoll in cover. It helps a lot

The voiceovers also need a lot of work. They sound bored.

This scenario totally reminds me of the movie "We were heroes". Great movie by the way. The game looks promising.
I think this is the Battle of Ia Drang. It seems to take place on the same dates.
Is the first mission inspired by the movie "we were soldiers" ?? seems like it with the deserter getting captured and telling about the regiment of vc...cool
Yeah it most definitely is. Finding a VC, him telling them there's a whole regiment in the mountains, the dry river bed etc.
