That's awesome you both speak your language. I am native american and sadly newer generation dont practice the native american culture. I personally am lucky. I grew up on the Navajo reservation . I can fluently speak , read & write Navajo. I am super fortunate. The Navajo language is a descriptive type of language. Theres some words that cant translate to English. I totally get it. violet edgewater you’re lucky. I only speak English and I wish I could have grown up knowing Cree. I’m only now just learning to speak French which is the other part of my heritage. I identify more with the cree part of myself than the French, but I’m so desperate to know more of myself that I’m clinging to what I’ve got. It’s hard to find resources online for those types of things. I’m in an area of Canada where it’s mostly Ojibwa communities. All Cree communities are up north. I’m glad you could keep in touch with that kind of thing. A lot of our languages are getting lost to the majority. It’s really unfortunate.
