Played in a black crowes trib band and that's how I play in open G. Just tune down 1 string since you rarely use the low D/high D and now you can do all the solo stuff. I think of it as a hybrid open G tuning. The high D will be needed sometimes if your using the slide .
Oh man, haha. That's a big mental issue with me. You see, I DO make mistakes. However, instead of editing them out, I stop and start again until i get it right. It's idiotic I know, and creates far too much time put into one tutorial sometimes. It's a mental block that I need to get over.
Should have started off with the the hitting of the opening strings, much easier and the way I play it but just leave it in standard tuning, and only hit the 2, 3, and 4th strings, no one will notice the missing other strings with all that distortion on.
