Project summary:
“Creation of the world's first online marketplace for environmental improvements and biodiversity enhancement based NFTs (non fungible tokens).
The first Eco NFT was achieved by a collaboration between Bloci Ltd (a Wrexham based blockchain technology company) and Hendwr farm (a farm near Corwen, North Wales). This first Eco NFT was to make environmental and biodiversity improvements to peatland on the farm and recoding the work on a blockchain to create the NFTs.
The company Bloci Ltd was specifically established to develop and bring to market Blockchain based products.”
About the Blockchain Challenge Funds:
Blockchain Connected hosted two Blockchain Challenge Funds, both funded by Welsh Government. These initiatives enabled chosen projects to turn concepts into reality, bridging the gap between innovators and organizations ready to embrace blockchain solutions.
Our primary objective: provide real-life case studies demonstrating how blockchain can conquer cross-sector challenges, from optimising supply chains to enabling true circular economies, achieving net-zero goals, and enhancing digital identity and record-keeping.
These challenges affect organizations of all sizes, from local businesses to global conglomerates. The Challenge Funds have proved that there is considerable interest in adopting blockchain in Wales - spanning farmers, educational institutions, utilities, healthcare providers, and beyond.
The Blockchain Proof-of-Concept Challenge Fund and Blockchain Demonstrator Challenge Fund, presented by Blockchain Connected, are a testament to the power of collaboration.
