  • If you ever get the chance to get out and walk some streets of your neighborhood, I highly recommend that you do just that. The history and architecture you come across is usually amazing and unexpected!
This walk is a little section of Oak Hill in Youngstown, Ohio. You'll see what I mean about amazing!

I'm way too young to remember it, but I was looking at historic aerial photos, and it's crazy how there used to be a house on every single lot in the South Side. I can't even imagine what that wouldve looked like - now there's maybe 3-4 houses per block in this area! I wish I could go back in time and see it.

St. Pat’s, baptized there, great memories of that church, we lived on Essex. I remember a big paint store on Essex, and I think a glass store. Now, the late Sister Jerome’s school’s address is where my grandfather’s house was. My aunt and uncles went to St. Pat’s.

I lived on Southern Blvd between Maywood Dr and Lowell from 1975 to 1980 and a few years ago, I met a couple in Dallas where I live now at a concert at a local venue. After finding out they were from Ohio, I told them where I lived in the 70s and they said " Oh you lived near the KC hall and the public sidewalk"! This is what we called a path between a house and the KC Hall that led from Southern Blvd to Halena Ave. I thought me and my friends gave it the name of "the public sidewalk" back in 76 but here is a couple in the 2000's. I hope that you can maybe dig up some history on that KC hall building and the surrounding area. Anyway Thank you for your videos and taking me back to what I think is the best place I ever lived :) Thanks Jim

The mention of the Cassablanca was on one of the Facebook pages I follow. I what's curious to know where it once stood. The interior of the church was surreal from the sharp contrast of the surrounding neighborhood.
