Don’t listen to them, YEARS of negative representations of black people in the media has and does cause some level of self hatred. It’s not necessarily your parents or your own fault. I’m just glad music videos like these exist now to promote positivity and self love with our people ✨
@terry dactyl that's really not the case most of the time. Also why would you comment this shit, when someone felt/feels bad about his skincolor and the intolerance of so many people that maybe made him feel bad about who he is??
"The way I topped the charts would have thought I was Dave, I am young, black, beautiful and brave" - Stormzy 🔥🔥 RIP Chadwick Boseman, you'll forever be in our hearts ❤️
Liverpool Fan your reaching! Being pro black doesn’t mean you’re anti white. This song is just uplifting black people and you found a way to twist it and add malice, very sad 😔
Why? The UK hasn't historically had significant problems with racism against black people (in the UK itself). While recognising and eliminating racial inequality, we don't need to import US attitudes to race when the history and environment is completely different.
Being white and feeling inspired even though this song isnt aimed at me, this is a beautiful message for all of the black youth, equality for all. One love, one world.
@E A There's always a time and place for that conversation, but right now this person is just expressing their gratitude towards the song. Let's keep this appreciative and uplifting yeah? :)
@E A i wouldnt be able to trade skins, because i know the pain, this song made me tear up, being proud of something bigger and better, why isnt that enough?
Believe me if i had the power to change, i would, but shrugging it off is refueling the fire, we need to hit it head on, and trust me i'll be fighting on your side...much love x
@Brit Girl it's trying to unify a community, one that's not always been the best at lifting each other up, God forbid it's not yours.. and It's unifying in saying black people and figures can be heroes to. As white people we have enough heroes and representation to look to for inspiration.
@Brit Girl no 1 said u can't sing abt white kings and queen coz their are some real kings and queens which have done so much good for da world stormzy is tryna have the black community to come together for a good cause,he wasnt trying 2 excluded white ppl
If I was a black person watching this I'd feel damn inspired to follow my dreams and make the world a little bit better. As Mandela said 'It always seems impossible until it's done.'
I'm a white woman and I don't know what it's like to be black but even I get inspired af through this. I hope it is healing for black folks! For that one day we'll all live in peace and equality.
This song reminds me of my brave strong mother who sadly passed away. She was a young black beatfiful inspirational woman who is my hero thank you stromzy for creating a song witch reminds me so much of her.
Black lives matter, trained Marxists (Karl Marx was fully in favour of the enslavement of the black people's.) Blm who want to end whiteness. A more racist statement I cannot think of. Oh and as for America, for every black person murdered by a white person there is eleven white people murdered by a black person. Bureau for the department of justice statistics and on the FBI website.
@ usually ill just ignore stuff like this but this time let me tell you. Inspired to work harder to get a first in my degree. Inspired to be the best at the future job I'll have as a top engineer. Inspired to be an example for my little cousins. Inspired to be an example of what black people can be. And most importantly, inspired to be a good person so my future children can live in a world where, as MLK famously said, they are judged not by the colour of their skin, but the content of their character. You saying riot and murder is such a gross generalisation its like me saying all white people think Hitler was the greatest person ever to live because a small group of white radicals hold those beliefs.
Yes #Stormzy. These lyrics are beautiful and this is like a blackety black black black anthem Respect King. Liverpool Fan Educate yourself before you spread your ignorance please. The definition of Racism = prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
Just because someone loves themselves and NO LONGER AFRAID TO EXPRESS IT! it does not mean the individual is racist. It simply means they’re comfortable in their skin and no longer have to pretend!
It’s about black people not about everyone else. 😐 We’ve always been excluded. You lot always want to be included when we do something positive but when we say black lives matter it’s all lives matter. Let us just have something for us Yh? Without the, “I’m white and I xyz...” we get it 🙄 This song helps black people because we need it.
JM : If a white guy said what you said it would be classified as racist. BTW I'm a dark skinned brother. Tune bangs, my 2p : making stormzy out to be a superhero is abit of a stretch
@H - it's hypocrisy what I don't like. If a white British man commented on a "happy" white music video and said "I'm happy that I'm white". Brown people will have a field day.
I just want to dedicate this to Chadwick Boseman, a superhero on and off camera. Someone who pushed through all the curveballs life threw at him with dignity, grace and kindness. I did not know you personally but I miss you dearly, like a lot of other young kids who you helped find pride in their blackness no matter where they were. Rest in peace and power now King 🖤
“Our parents were legends they had to migrate” This hit me as a young Hispanic man from America. Makes me think of the ancestors I have that came here voluntarily or against their own free will. Forever Proud of my history. #BLM
No offence I'm getting tired of everyone screaming out black lives matter in the western world. Meanwhile Africa is facing some of the hottest weather they've ever had, droughts are killing tribes, child slavery in the Congo hasn't slowed down nor has anyone intervened. Poverty is still the biggest challenge along with something as simple as clean drinking water. Children still can't get an education. The list goes on and on, but these problems are nothing new. They are the same problems they've faced for decades. So when you say black lives matter, must not be talking about all black lives you just mean your own.
Young, gifted and black. This week alone two of my young black family members were stopped for parking outside their homes in nice cars and the usual hateful assumptions made. These black young boys - hard working jobs in the City were tired of it! I have sent this onto them as it is so inspirational thank you for giving young black people hope for a better day - keep going it’s so needed in these times 🙏🏾
Nope never, Bob Dylan first anyways, his lyrics are fine but Dylan’s are immaculate the line ‘the ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face’ is probably one of the greatest pieces of poetry ever

Nobody: Stormzy: References Tracey Beaker theme tune and pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman at the end😭😭😭🔥🙌🏾🖤 why did my heart do a backflip! #Stormzy well done black King
Can we also note that the Tracey Becker theme song is also called ‘Someday’ made by Keisha White, a black British singer songwriter. Stormzy stays representing black Brits 🙌🏾🙌🏾
I literally came back from a nightshift on the wards, showered and saw this notification before hitting my bed... And I couldn't resist! I had to watch/listen...I am HUGE Stormzy fan... God called him for this... He really uses his platform and doesn't hide away from speaking out those important and sometimes unpopular messages, then to top it off, he makes it sound so good-it becomes music... Yes 🙌🏾.... Love this, very relevant and and very important message... Let's keep building, supporting, educating and encouraging one another.... And I love the Chadwick touch at the end 🙏🏾... Well done Stormzy... Keep up the good work... May God bless you... I am sure your mum must be so proud! She did an amazing job👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I respect this song. It’s not for the popularity, it’s for the respect for black people and everyone else, so that makes this song special for everyone, and I respect that. Rest In Peace Chadwick Boseman. You truly are a superhero in our hearts! #blacklivesmatter

This is beautifully unique and uplifting. The positivity towards black people, and particularly black women (notice the feminine depictions) in this moved me. Thank you Stormzy

Being white and feeling inspired even though this song isnt aimed at me, this is a beautiful message for all of the black youth, equality for all. One love, one world.

@E A You don't have to be the one to "punish", you can be better.
@E A do you speak in only metaphors?
@E A i wouldnt be able to trade skins, because i know the pain, this song made me tear up, being proud of something bigger and better, why isnt that enough?

This is why I respect this man more than most other rappers, no rapping about money, nude girls, or drugs, but instead rapping about unity
@Brit Girl it's trying to unify a community, one that's not always been the best at lifting each other up, God forbid it's not yours.. and It's unifying in saying black people and figures can be heroes to. As white people we have enough heroes and representation to look to for inspiration.

Inspired to be an example for my little cousins. Inspired to be an example of what black people can be. #STORMZY - #SUPERHEROES
Don't die on me
I said
Young #blackking, don't die on me
You're my brother, you're my keeper
I need you to keep an eye on me
And no more fighting on the streets
Walking 'round with all this pride on me
Shit, shit's tough for us already
Know that you can still rely on me
Please, just stay alive for me
And my #youngblackqueens, don't quit now (yeah)
You're the only ones that got us
I could never let my sis down
You been too strong, for too long
Yet, still you never sit down, wow
That's the power of your loving
And it's worthy of a king's crown
And still you never let your kings down
Even though most times, we don't deserve it
The picture isn't pretty, but it's perfect
Tedious pressures, so then I curve it
#Serena or #Venus, the way I serve it
I'm #MalloryBlackman, the way I sell books
I jump on the stage, and then the world looks
All that banging' on my door, had my girl shook
Now sorry officer, I only sell hooks
Leave me alone
Every little L I took, I hold it close to home
Live and you learn, they'll always hate me for my tone
For the shade of my skin
And not the courage of my bones
Now, I'm misunderstood
Now, I'm feeling like #NinaSimone
The way I toured the world
Would have thought that I was Sims
See her on stage, I know that women can be kings
I know that's fucked, they're overlooking what you bring
I know shit's all good, but it's just the little things
#Blackqueen you're immaculate
It's coming at the world
They ain't ready for your magic yet
And that was never your fault
Man, I guess they couldn't hack it yet
World domination, and you ain't even
Taken off your jacket yet
So effortlessly fabulous
And my young #blackkings I hope it pays off
Go and show 'em what you're made of
Trying to scare us with some things
That we are no longer afraid of
Men are superheroes, let me see you take off
I pray you never take your cape off
Even though most times, we don't fly straight
If I trust you bro, I promise we gon' die great
Our burdens are heavy, but we ain't light weights
Our parents were legends, they had to migrate
So that's a reason not to sit around and chat shit
I'm from the place where #MichaelDapaah made a smash hit
Where you can be a rapper, if rap you sick
They're screaming, "What a flippin' time to be a #blackBrit!"
We so alive, whole world gone out their minds
But no we ride, tried to push us all to the side
We know our rights
Now we get the whole of the pie, then go inside
When you see that #Merky flag in the sky
Just know it's I
The way I topped the charts
Would've thought that I was Dave
I am young, black, beautiful and brave
Know that it's fucked, they're overlooking what we gave
I know shits all good, so we pray for better days
Pray they better than before (better than before)
Young black king, you are everything and more (you are everything and more)
I know one song's not enough to settle scores (not enough to settle scores)
But from the bottom of my heart
Man, I hope you're getting yours (getting yours)
Man, I hope you're getting yours (getting yours)
Young #blackqueen, get your shine on
All I see is innovators, and a bag of icons
You can go and ask the whole world
Where they got they style from?
That's you, that's us, God's time
And he never gets the time wrong
I guess we just some ticking time bombs
We soon blow (boom)
I can make my world come true
All my dreams will see me through
And if that won't get me down
My dreams will turn things all around
With a smile upon my face
I can see a better place
Doesn't matter what may come my way
Believe me now, I will win some day

@@MaryShelleysNib Thank you for understanding my point. I am a huge Stormzy fan and love his lyrical flow.
I’m not a Black person myself but this is so positive and wholesome and I hope this helps people and unites us all whatever background or race

@H - No it's great to feel good about your race no matter what race you are. I wouldn't mind if anyone showed their happiness in being white or brown

that line hit me very hard
No offence I'm getting tired of everyone screaming out black lives matter in the western world. Meanwhile Africa is facing some of the hottest weather they've ever had, droughts are killing tribes, child slavery in the Congo hasn't slowed down nor has anyone intervened. Poverty is still the biggest challenge along with something as simple as clean drinking water. Children still can't get an education. The list goes on and on, but these problems are nothing new. They are the same problems they've faced for decades. So when you say black lives matter, must not be talking about all black lives you just mean your own.
