We Make Fruit Punch Flavored Tie Dye Hard Candy! (First Time!)

  • Dylan here with another video for you! No Craig doesn't have a cold, but he was fairly busy, so I took a crack at filming and editing this new candy for the first time. Terry was hungry for some Fruit Punch Tie Dye Hard Candy, so we took a note out of Greg's notebook (Lofty Pursuits) and made our own version of the beautiful hard candy creation! Now yes it was our first attempt at making it, maybe a few color challenges to overcome, but all in all we think this new candy is one that will stick around for a long time!

    I think max had the right idea. Have each colour as a cylinder and arrange them like numbers on a clock/spokes on a wheel, so each colour will have an outside facing area, then as you form it you can spin it, twist it and squash it about to move the colours around.

    • @elsyfer
      @elsyfer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Yes, I think the flattening and curling is not good - the color in the middle might not see the light of day. Rolling them as you say sounds like it makes more sense. The first way works if they make it like Greg does, but they're not making it like Greg does, they're making flat candies. Edit: Oh, sounds like second batch they figured it out! Edit2: Nooooooooooo!

      @jakubj9448 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      I think that flattening color layers is good idea, but you should not fold them exactly on themselves. Instead always put the next one about 2 inches to the left from the previous layer (like stairs) and then roll it from the right to the left. That way there will be about the same of each color on the outside of the cylinder.

    Max had the right idea with the color cylinders and spokes, as well as his color theory... TECHNICALLY, if you have 3 colors and actually split them by 1/4, the 3 colors get halves, the other 3 colors get 1/4 of each of the other colors. Much more even.

  • @markdoherty3718
    @markdoherty3718 4 ปีที่แล้ว +166

    Hey guys! I'm a really new fan from the Philippines and I'm very likely going to go to New York this winter! And guess what's almost definitely going into the itinerary? That's right, visiting you guys. I'm so stoked about it. You guys inspired me to start making my own candy (since ordering yours definitely would not make the trip but I really wish I could!) and it's helped me get out of the worst of my depression after losing my job.
    Full disclosure, my mom is terminally ill and her treatments make nausea and dizziness a common thing for her. By way of you guys, I learnt how to make hard candy and what ho! It helped ease her nausea so much that she can actually leave her room more than once a week now! Definitely wouldn't have known that if I hadn't clicked on your videos and I'm so grateful for it.

    The primary colours you should use are actually yellow, magenta and cyan. The purple gets muddied out a bit when you use just red and blue. Using cyan, magenta and yellow will make the colours pop a lot more and match better and you won't get that "peas and carrots" effect. Definitely the spokes wheel idea will give you the best display of colours, since you use the clamp and you don't just chop the candy like other places do to show the inside :)

    Gorgeous Candy! The only issue I see was losing a lot of the primary colors. Diving them in thirds and then combining them made the secondary colors twice the mass. Maybe slightly smaller sectioning next time?
    Either way I want to order it. 🤤

    • @lethiapage4767
      @lethiapage4767 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The way to get same amount of each color is split the batch into thirds for red blue yellow. Then divide each primary color in half...so you have 6 halves. Set aside one each as primary. For the other 3 halves split again and pair off each piece with the other two colors for green orange purple. Now you have 6 colors in same sized amounts

    Love that y’all work together as a team.
    I’m no candy expert, but, I was wondering, what if once you have the colors stacked then halving it long ways and then stacking it again that way you have double the colors going through before you pull it out on the canvas?
    Thank y’all for the videos!! I throughly enjoy watching. They really do lift my spirits. I am chronically ill and y’all bring some sunshine in my life on bad days. Thank you!
