Maturity is apparently letting people walk all over you, being soft and not knowing how to handle being offended and coping. It used to mean standing up for yourself, speaking confidently and clearly and dealing with your problems like a grown up.
I actually think being afraid to say certain words is a sign of immaturity rather than maturity. It takes maturity to understand that “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”. I 100% agree with what you said “you didn’t mature you just became a pussy” lol
I started watching iDubbbz when I was around 15 (2016) and it does kinda suck when iDubbbz now paints his "old fans" in such a poor light when the vast majority of us just enjoyed his content because it was fun and entertaining. Even now at 22 I'm still able to enjoy that same old content the same, and his videos never influenced me to be racist/homophobic in the slightest. In fact usually I just found the slur stuff to be kinda cheap/lazy jokes, but I didn't particularly get offended at it either and I simply watched because I enjoyed the rest of the content so much. It seems like a lot of youtubers eventually just get pressured and shamed into believing they were doing something they weren't really doing at all, in this case iDubbbz believing he was genuinely creating malicious content.
@Dr Quack after the Quantum Fiasco he got a little bit of an ego and ofc the content kinda downgraded like the latest videos it is extremely noticeable.
I have friends who say things like the R slur and wish the enemy team or their own teammates too oof themselves all the time. But when it comes things to like the N word or the F slur for someone reason they have double standards when people say that. In their eyes is “ edgy “ and not “mature”.Im scratching my head over here thinking like what? thats fine and the other one isn’t. I don’t say this stuff but at the same time I don’t care that much for it. W vid ❤

I don’t think saying nigger or nigga or fag or retard or tranny automatically makes you racist or ableist or transphobic. Im white and say all that stuff but im not any of those things and I make sure not to say it around people it might upset because I just don’t want to upset anyone. Im for freedom of speech and I don’t think that’s edgy.
It doesn't matter what iDubbbz believes. What matters are what the people around him believe. Look at the content creators that are currently on his side and that are defending him. They are all potential "victims" of an content cop video, if he where to make another one. The "hip kids" don't like his older content, so he has to condem his past self and fans as devils and himself as enlightened to the harm that he has caused. He will never be able to talk about anything but his past "mistakes". One slip-up and his new "friends" will eat him alive.
i personally think it is pretty obvious why he navigated after success, once you see the massive influence you have, and the audience you are attracting from doing the things he was doing, any healthy person would want to distance themselves from that. It is easy to say, people do what they want, and no one is going to stop them from XYZ, but idubbbz was massive when i was in high school, and i saw many people, even myself use that type of language in such a causal manner, simply because you seen it on youtube, and it was garnering so much praise and attention. idc if alot of folk are hating on idubbbz, takes some serious balls to ditch what make you successful, to be able start a better and less destructive path
TH-cam and a lot of the personalities on here are too corporate and try too hard to be safe. If people want to act like it's mature to know not to use certain words nonchalantly then they should be mature enough to understand that when used for comedy they're not being used with malicious intent.
He's coming out with this now for cancel insurance, so that someone can't clip all his past videos where he says offensive things to ruin his career. I think he's realizing now at this stage in his life that he has a lot to lose, so he's doing it out of caution because unfortunately that's the kind of society we live in today.
